id be perfectly fine with telling you what the elders wont of the skinwalkers, i carry the blood and history in my family long enough back i also inherited a lot of legends and stories that while being legend and story are all based in something factual. a skinwalker is the answer to what 90 percent of what i hear sighted that is unknown, or sighted before someone disappeared that was unexplained.

my choice is a two-way tie. Siren Head and Cartoon Cat. Siren Head is a humanoid creature that stands at 40 feet tall and has a pair of siren speakers for a head hence it's name. it can camouflage and use it's sirens as a way to attract human prey, it does this by mimicking human voices, radio broadcasts and even animal. Cartoon Cat is stated to be the most dangerous of all of Trevor Henderson's monsters. he has the appearance of a anthropomorphic cat from a cartoon of the 1930s (doubt Micky Mouse will survive a fight with him) due to him being a rubber hose type, he can stretch his arms to grab any human that encounters him. the only way to basically kill him is with Dip from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. it might not kill permanently but enough to escape with your life.
We need a part two of this list because there are so many spooky folklore creatures and cryptids out there.

Cipitio is a legendary character from Salvadoran folklore revolving around the Siguanaba and Cadejo legends. He is generally portrayed as an 8 to 10 year old boy with a large conical hat and a pot belly.

As a Salvi, I can confirm this is correct. He is also the son of La Siguanaba, cursed with immortality by the rain god Tlaloc. He loves plátanos and when he flees, he twists his feet backwards so that he tricks his pursuers in going the other direction.

Does anyone else remember the gem that is Lost Tapes by Animal Planet? As I kid I found it terrifying, as a college student I find it fun and campy if not a little cheesy.

I loved that show. Especially when they started making it episodic, with those three episodes that featured the same characters. I think it was the zombie, strigoi, and Quetzalcoatl episodes. Too bad they axed it not long after that. It was fun.

Did not expect that our very own mananangal will be on the top spot Other Filipino folk creature/s we have: Tianak: a undead baby Tikbalang: a man with a horse's head and tail, though i'm not sure about the tail Kapre: a gaint that smokes a tabaco/cigar Dwende: elves, they can either be good or bad I believe there are other folk creatures but I didn't know their name and the description

Aswang: their like zombies but still alive, they only eat flesh / organs then in day break they switch back to a normal human Tiktik, it's the other term used for mananangal, not sure with the other province here in Phillipines if that is the same discription.

I live in the south of Brazil and in my state (Paraná) there were many attacks by the chupacabra in the 90s, when I was a child I was very afraid of him, even though I live in the downtown capital lol
Thank you for featuring the Philippines' Urban creature which is the Manananggal. Love from the Philippines 🥰🥳
Here in New Jersey, USA, we have the legend of the Jersey Devil. 😈Mother Leeds discovers she's pregnant with her 13th child. "Let it be the devil", she says. The child is normal at birth, but soon turns into a horrible creature and flies up the chimney and terrorizes the countryside.
@arjyachatterjee6874

Jesey Devil was the first creature which I came to know as cryptid. Then, I come to know about chupacabra and other creatures like loch ness monster, yeti, bigfoot, colossal squid, sun lion, man - eating tree of Madagascar, ahool etc. But the most terrifying of all was none other than chupacabra. But there are some cryptids like colecanth fish, komodro dragon, okapi etc. whose existence are proved. So cryptozoology is not entirely a useless study or research in terms of systematic biology.
@arjyachatterjee6874

I must also consider Bunyip who is actually my first cryptid but on that time, I didn't know that that kind of monsters or creatures are called cryptids from the Bengali adventure novel of "Chander Pahar or Mountain of the Moon". The monster was depicted in Africa as the creature idea of the author (Bibhutibhushan Bandhopadhyay) while according to myths, it is the legend of Australia (I really don't know whether bunyip exists in Africa but according to websites, it is only showing Australia). The kappa tortoises of Japan can also be first cryptids from watching cartoons like Doraemon, Ninja Hattori etc. but like bunyip, I don't know that they are known as cryptids (I don't know whether kappa are only legendary creatures or cryptids but I think both of them have minor differences, legendary creatures mean those creatures of legend or myths whose evidence of existence is not found concretely whereas cryptids are also entities of folklore but there are unconfirmed evidences of such creatures like photographs, video tapes, footprints etc.) I don't know whether this definition is accurate but I think if some evidences of legendary creatures like griffin, unicorn, nagas are discovered, they will turn into cryptids.
Nice to see Lost Tapes clips being used here, I miss that show List Idea: top 10 mythical creatures from each country
The aswang was a creature of the week in Grimm.

"Send it awaaay!!" Leprechaun: But it's not within my powers man. 😆😆😆that was funny. Asking a tiny leprechaun to fight a Dulahan is like asking a rat to fight a cat. The old man is screwed.

Consider the legendary Lizard Man of Bishopville, Lee County, South Carolina. It has been around since the late 1980s. This creature is described variously as 7 feet tall, has green scaly lizard skin, glowing and piercing red eyes and sometimes with a tail. Last sighting of this creature was on my Uncle's security camera at his house recently when I visited Bishopville, South Carolina.

in my first sleep paralysis incident i saw a tall dark figure standing in the corner of my room. it floated to my bedside and leaned right over me so we were face to face. i couldn't see any facial features. just complete nothingness. my gf at the time said i was making noises and looked like i was trying to move but couldn't. i woke up gasping for air and straight into a panic attack. that tall dark figure is a recurring nightmare with my sleep paralysis. along with some beast biting into my neck. sleep paralysis used to freak me out at first but now it's more like " ahhhh shit, here we go again" lol
The Jiangshi, and Dulahan have been portrayed in Shaman King and Durarara respectively. Would like to see more of this list myself.
The Strigoi are my favorite among vampire myths and legends. I've heard of the Jiangshi from a book I bought from my middle school book fair several years ago and I still have to this day
I didn't expect the #1 🤣
We don't have a lot of creepy monsters in Danish folklore. Mostly we have ghosts. We do have the hel horse though. I guess that's as creepy as it gets here.
Nothing beats the monster from pans labyrinth the eyeball monster still scares me to this day 😅

Love this content. Make one for europeans and Asians strictly. ❤❤❤
I have to imagine netflix is pretty tight fisted about its content getting into these sort of videos. The most recent season of unsolved mysteries on there includes an episode with mention of a s k i n w a l k e r encounter. Paranormal Rangers is the title.
Aswang and Tiyanak, the Aswang is almost like a skin walker able to shapeshift to anything it wants, feeds on mostly people but sometimes live stock, it's sound is also weird, when it sounds like it's closeby, it's actually far, but when it sounds like it's far. well.. 2nd, the Tiyanak, almost like a changeling, a monster baby that preys on empathy, it cries at night in a forest or secluded places hoping to find its next meal.
The most scariest monster on the Philippines was TikTik, it's name is based on its animal sound they say "Tik tik tik tik." in a tiny voice, they prey on pregnant woman or toddler, they have awful smell like a rotten fish or corpse. If you heard it's sound so quite it means it's nearby, when you hear them loud it means they're faraway. And they had this hairy features and long tongue. I'm not speaking of it as folklore or legend, i experienced it, back on 2009 my aunt was pregnant and we have family gathering and suddenly we smell something awful or rotten then we heard a sound saying, "tik-tik." it's quite, then a huge bounce on our neighbors roof we heard it again then my cousin saw something staring at certain room, it's my aunt's room. Then all of us arm ourselves with garlic and salt we can't fight it with blades or something, because it's bloods poisonous and cursed. Then we heard it again but it's to loud it means it goes away. It's true man, I'm not lying i still remember the sound and the smell
Fact: the Mara inspired the Walrider from Outlast!
I'm happy that Manananggal is in the list. It's unique here in the Philippines and even up to this day many people believes they exist.
U forgot one monster..mankind
I watched an old Chinese movie when I was a kid about the jiangshi and it terrified me

One of the creepiest the Nordic mythology has must be The Draugr.
Surprised La Llorana didn’t make the list
In the netherlands we have the Witte wieven. well i think this part of the book i bought explains it better In Dutch mythology and legends, the Witte Wieven (also known as Wittewijven) are spirits of "wise women" (or else elven beings). The mythology dates back at least to the pre-Christian era (7th century) and was known in the present-day regions of the Netherlands, Belgium and parts of France. In some places they were known as Juffers or Joffers ("ladies"), or as Dames Blanches (White Ladies) in French.
There's something about a singular monster that's so much more terrifying than multiple...
Represent 🇵🇭
5:13 we also have a version of that legend in Greece, called Μόρα or Mora.
Pulgasari just looks like Godzilla mix with Tauren
Wendigo...that's the only 1 I can name off-hand.
Not sure if these count but The Nuckelavee and Wendigo creep me out.
If you people have never seen what a Jiangshi is, then watch that one episode of kung fu, panda legends of awesomeness, where it shows a Possessed Master Shifu become one! And Po to in defense of fighting Jiangshi master Shifu
woah, i didn't expect manananggal would be the no. 1 lol. but yeah, there's a certain province here in the philippines that's said to be their and so many witches' (mangkukulam) home (they are often associated together). ofc it can always be just tales and myths, but it's worth pointing the fact that most (if not all) bus drivers there sternly warn their passengers to never buy food from just anybody and only eat on stores where they would stop. my dad's friends learned the hard way when they didn't listen and spent a month in the hospital. they didn't even know what hit them but it was only after buying from a street vendor near the terminal. everytime my dad goes there for business for many years, the same warning was always repeated. townsfolk said the witches/manananggal do that to lure fresh victims.

To make sure that the eatery is not owned by an aswang, check the ingredients that they are using. If they are not using garlic, onion, vinegar, citrus fruits and salt and the food there tastes bland, it is most likely owned by an aswang.
Hsien Ko from Darkstalkers taught me what jiangshi hopping ghost was
Just bust open a creature compendium from most fantasy TTRPGs and you will find a bunch of these (or their modern incarnations). And yes many of the entries in those books are just modern creations, but the Monster Manual's rakshasa, chimera, doppelganger, and wight are far scarier than any chupacabra, and still based in folklore.

No.1 Philippines 😁
I swear to God man, hell be coming to earth in form of monsters
I never thought that manananggal would be in first I was shock and it truly deserve it
Most of these are creepy, I know. Personally, though, nothing beats the nuckleavee. A part-man horse demon from Ireland that brings death and decay with every step and breath, often identified by its complete lack of skin. Yeah, this thing is an Irish boogeyman with *no skin*. Think about that before bedtime.
My favorite is the nuckelavee
The Tokoloshi is Sputh-Africa's urban legend
The Chinese one, that’s where Capcom got Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers

La Llorona. Please.
The eeriest creature in my culture, Navajo, is the Skinwalker. Not eerie but Bigfoot is also a small part of our culture. Not traditionally but there have been sightings of Bigfoot on Navajo lands. Edit: Just saw Skinwalkers made the top 10. FYI those masked dancers at 9:58-10:07 are not Skinwalkers. They are recreated dances personifying sacred Navajo deities. Also, those are photos taken by the late photographer Edward Curtis. Who is still controversial to this day about the subject of Native American representation.
In my opinion, the Dullahan is much more scary than the American Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hallow. Jorgumo are known to be evil, then how were they able to make the spider girl from the manga Monster Musume named Rachnera be good? Should've added Dearg Due, the Irish Vampire to this list.

Rach-nee is an arachne, not a jirogumo. Although, I do know one story where the jirogumo seems to fall in love with a woodcutter that took a nap next to her waterfall.

Would count dracula use strigoi as his generals?
I live in a city where Navajo nation resides... even saying the word Skinwalker is a bad Idea since it is like saying candyman 5 times in a mirror... albeit their appearance isnt instantaneous they will find you! if you hear tapping at the door dont even acknowledge it let alone answer the door if you dont want to meet a gruesome end. so yeah... it isnt simply taboo... it's a practice that must be learned.
