@@alb0403 Thanos is the first to be characterized, the first on screen character with the most lines, even the first image of him in the movie is him standing over Thor, enveloped in a "calming" blue light. Infinity War is Thanos' movie. He's the "protaganist".

@@catisreckless4647 tbf, the ending for the Mist movie was completely changed from the novella. In the novella there is no twist ending, after reaching the car they just keep driving till they decide to take refuge for the night, where David (the main character) hears a voice on a radio that just says "Hartfort" and the group drives off into the mist towards Hartford, and that's where the book ends. Granted if you're talking for the rest of the movie which IIRC was fairly accurate to the novella I can't say anything for that.

I wouldnt really call the "snap" from Infinity War a plot twist...more like a shocking moment to be honest.

Anyone that didn't know what was about to happen, doesn't read any of the comics and gets their information solely off the movies as the truth. Some don't even realize new comics are being made to this day and thought the comic book industry died out forever ago.

I remember The Arrival. I loved its twist. It also shows how different their minds were. She wasn’t the only one studying the language. They were studying the language together, yet she was the only one who started to see time non-linear way. Also, the whole “dead daughter” thing was awesome, because we thought it was a flashback, but in reality it was a flashforward the whole time.

"Prisoners" had a pretty good twist

The Mist is such an underrated movie. It sets up so many movie cliches(The good guy everyman saves the day, the hero and the heroine somehow end up together, the kid always lives) and then just stomps them out.

Can I make a small suggestion? When making a list that includes spoilers, can you please list the movie before the spoiler? It makes a little more sense and allows us to skip forward once the movie is mentioned rather than hearing the spoiler to the movie without a chance to really consider it. Much appreciated!

Dude, for real, I came here for a list if movies to check out with good plot twists, only to have every movie I haven't yet seen immediately spoiled. But hey man ✨"views"✨ 🤦🏼‍♀️

The Uninvited (2009) has one of the BEST cinematic/satisfying plot twists I’ve ever seen. *Other great thriller movies* with great plot twists are Final Destination 5, Searching (2018), Devil (2010), Orphan (2009), the Saw films, and several Black Mirror episodes are outstanding.

Come on! “Contratiempo” (aka “The Invisible Guest”) deserves to be on this list. The greatest plot twist ever. I won’t give any spoilers to those of you who haven’t seen it but trust me.. IT IS EPIC!

You hit plenty of good ones, but the film that immediately sprung to my mind was 'Million Dollar Baby'. The twist came out of nowhere, creating a completely different story arc. I wouldn't necessarily say it's the best cinematic twist of the 21st century, but it certainly is one that has stayed with me since I first viewed it.

*MY FAVORITES:* Esther is an adult ("Orphan") The Armitage family's secret ("Get Out") The characters are personalities ("Identity") Mr. Glass is a super villain ("Unbreakable") Adelaide is the original Red ("Us") The family members are already dead ("The Others") Sarah is still in the cave ("The Descent")

one of the best not talked about movies i have ever seen .. it literally blew my mind, such an awesome movie!

#1 you might want to watch again since you misunderstood the sacrifice. He doesn't cut out his tongue because he is horrified for sleeping with his daughter. He cuts out his tongue to make amends for telling the siblings' secret. This is in exchange for his daughter never knowing the truth of who he is. It's a lot deeper than you thought and makes the movie better.

I would pick a not well known movie called "Skeleton Key" for it's ending twist.

See, when she didn’t talk about her daughter in the present I figured those scenes had to be the future and it hadn’t happened yet. I thought we were SUPPOSED to understand that, so I was just waiting for a different twist throughout the movie. I didn’t realize THAT was the twist everyone was talking about. It does kinda take the wind out of the sails of the movie.

Get Out story was taken from The Skeleton Key

Korean film Forgotten(2017) had a such a Great plot twist. That was just not a Worldwide hit like Parasite and Oldboy but it was still one of the most streamed korean movie of all time.

@@giovannifilsnicolas6920 there was a boy screaming in the plane and was kicked out before take off then later on, while the plane was in the air, the passenger(one of the 2 survivors) who had visions of who was gonna die asked why the boy left the plane. The flight attendant said " don't worry, he was saying the plane is going to burn in mid air so everyone should leave and that's just crazy". Keep in mind that this is the same thing that happened to him at the baseball game when he saw who was gonna die and stopped it but everyone slowly died one after the other(him and his gf were the only 2 left). Anyway...the other boy got the vision and he didn't so he found out when it was too late and him and his gf died.

@@giovannifilsnicolas6920 We only find out at the end (unless we pay super close attention to small details that reveal the date the movie is set in) that Final Destination 5 is actually a prequel to the first movie. The only two 'survivors' of the fifth movie are on an airplane in the final scene, in what would've been a 'riding off into the sunset' trope. They cut together unused footage of the first film into it seamlessly, making it seem as if the two were on that infamous flight that kickstarted the Final Destination franchise in the first place. Even though I wanted the couple to live, the twist blew me out of the water enough that I was satisfied.

I love how Watch Mojo constantly contradicts itself. This list talks about how Shutter Island has the best movie plot twist of all time, then have another countdown stating that Shutter Island's big twist wasn't that great and was in plain sight all along.

Whether you love or hate the end of The Mist, it’s a reminder to never give up, no matter how bleak and hopeless a situation seems .

Here's a crazy idea - maybe for a spoilers episode, instead of introducing each segment with "*spoiler* - *name of movie*" you could try the opposite order, giving people the opportunity to hit pause. And yes, I know I clicked at my own risk, but it seems like a no brainier for a script writer/editor.

I knew once I saw Shutter Island they would show the "live as a monster, die as a good man" scene. They always do.

Memento was so freaking good and I'm so happy it's on this list!

Maybe not a plot twist per se, but I really didn’t expect “Inglorious Basterds” to go the way it did at the end. I was just expecting another war style film with a Tarantino spin on it, not a complete re-write of how the war was ended.

I'm pretty sure Tarantino did not intend THIS, but what I recall most vividly was the bar scene, where we all learn that in Germany, a thumb counts as a finger. So, counting to 3 is thumb, index, middle finger, not index, middle, ring finger.

The problem with that film is the first half is trying to be like a Tarrantino film and failing. Second half is spectacular, but the first half almost ruins it.

I still think my favorite twist of the century was the ending of Terminator 3. How the T-850's goal was never to stop Skynet or prevent Judgement Day, the rise of the machines was entirely inevitable. The mission all along was just to get John and Kate together and make sure they survive to form the Resistance. The reveal of them both being not at some central nerve center of Skynet, but a presidential nuclear bunker, is brilliant.

I recommend "the Invisible guest"

#1: That IS quite the twist. Omg, what is this movie? I screamed for 3 min straight!!!

Gone Girl was awesome, made me read the book. The Prestige is a masterpiece. And the Avengers wasn’t a twist if we already knew what Thanos wanted to do with the infinity stones.

First horror movie I watched at age 10 was Orphan...terrified me 😂😂😂

The twist of Sinister should have been included even as an honorable mention.

The Mist was a fine horror movie, nothing to write home about, but man that ending was absolutely devastating.

The Book of Eli hit differently though. I remember watching it as a kid and when that plot twist hit I sat in the dark for about a half an hour just thinking the whole movie over for clues and subtleties

Shutter Island messed with me, I'm left wondering if my entire life has been a lie. Maybe I'm adopted

No..... It's just a dumb plottwist. There's no indication that Hans is a bad guy. Like not a single clue. It makes all his actions during the film make no sense. It's just there for the sake of having a plottwist

What freaked me out about "The Others" was when the curtains were suddenly gone. The real owners of the house were getting sick of the ghosts closing them, because one of her kids was allergic to Light. On the first watch, we think it's the ghosts who removed the curtains.

The Others is one of the best one time watch movies ever. Once you know the twist the movie isn't that fun to watch but on the first watch it is pretty nuts.

I’m surprised Upgrade isn’t on this list, such an underrated movie and the ending was crazy

For me Parasite is #1! I couldn´t believe the twist of it when I watched the movie for the first time in my life. It was fantastic written and twisted the whole movie to an complete unexpected story.

Predestination: the movie has the main hero, main villain, main hero's mother, and main hero's father be the same exact person all at once.

Since we kind of wanted a proper fight (or is that just me?), I wouldn't put it on any 'best' list. I got genuinely mad, feeling it was a cop out. Then again, I was never a fan of the series (what kind of vampire story isn't even remotely horror?!), so my views on it might be biased. I liked The Host, though. Of course that's the one the author drops...

The Plot Twist in Parasite gave me evtrem chills, especially the ,,ghost" scene

The prestige made my jaw drop and even though I've seen it many times I still love the twist and I gasp every bloody time

Nice list :D No doubt Memento, Shutter Island, Saw and The Others deserve being here... Also, I would add "Secret Window", "Hide and seek" and "The uninvited" in it.

I'm surprised Robert DeNiro's *Hide and Seek* wasn't even mentioned.

@@humbertojimmy she was just ok with hanging out with her dad watching him kill cats and knowing he killed her mom and she didn’t want to get help from anyone, she even pushed away Elizabeth and that girl she had a play date with. She was just ok with chilling in the house with her crazy dad alone? And he made a 10 pound 7 year old move a body? Yeah ok, that’s realistic. When they revealed the twist I just kind of sat there like 🤨😒. It just didn’t have the impact they wanted it to IMO. But you are entitled to your opinion. I like movies others don’t.

The guy spent the whole movie in a panic thinking how could he protect his daughter from a stranger (very wwell acted, by the way) and in the end HE was the stranger all along. It was brilliant. But ok, some like it, others don't.

@@heisenberg5331 I'd seen The Sixth Sense already. I didn't know what it was called then, but I knew the "Dead All Along" trope was in play.

The ending of Atonement wrecked me. I read the book and the ending was all played out in her mind. I didn’t think they could translate it screen but they pulled it off flawlessly and heartbreakingly
