    Ik, i never understood why he fizzled out. I loved his movies before they got kinda lame in the early 2010s. Live free or die hard, drag me to hell, jeepers creepers, waiting, dodge ball, ect. He was such a good actor but just nvr took off like I believe he shouldve. Not sure if it was his movie choices bc, like I said, his movies since the early 2010s were just not that great but Im sure thats more of his management team. I havnt heard anything about him being hard to work with or being a jerk in general tho? His movie Barbarian was so good! I loved the movie in general tho. I hope he gets more roles like that. I think the horror genre is better suited for him.

    "Jacob's Ladder" was the first movie that I could not wrap my head around. That was 9 years before "The Sixth Sense" and plot twists hadn't become a real trope yet, at least not in my movie viewings. It really boggled my mind at the time.

    I think Sinster is has one of the best and it's kind of a double twist. Spoilers if you haven't seen it The first being that moving out of the house is what triggers the death. The second is that all the deaths were caused by the missing kids.

    Good twist in ‘the boy’ but then they made a sequel where the doll was possessed so it totally shat all over the twist. I never thought howard being right was a twist at all in 10 cloverfield lane, because of the first film. But it was a slight twist he killed his daughter?

  • @artur6912

    @artur6912

    The twist in 10 cloverfield lane is that originally there wasn't supposed to be any twist, and it was supposed to be an original horror movie. The connection to cloverfield and aliens being real was a last minute shoehorn addition mandated by the studio.

    Actually WatchMojo, it was never confirmed that the events of American Psycho were imagined by Patrick Bateman. That’s but one of several theories to that ambiguous ending. And the ‘It’s all in Patrick’s head’ theory has a few fuzzy holes in certain scenes. Personally I believe that Patrick did kill Paul Allen and many others, but after watching I saw that almost everyone in Patrick’s workplace confuse each other constantly and get everyone’s name wrong. And because all the guys in movie’s 90’s work place looked basically identical, Patrick gets away with it because he’s rich and unremarkable amongst his peers. You can hear about it on the movie’s Kill Count by Dead Meat.

That was the plot twist to me. I guess bc John Goodman is such a loveable teddy bear kinda guy it was a surprise at first. After watching it a second time I realized the red flags he was giving off. I'm reasonably certain that American Psycho's 'commentary on yuppie culture' was because most of the events of the movie (barring that ATM scene) actually DID happen. It's just that everyone was willing to do whatever it took -- from something as small as lying about seeing Paul Allen recently to something as enormous as discreetly getting rid of a corpse so you could show an apartment -- to maintain the status quo. THAT is the commentary: that people would rather live in concerted denial to keep things smooth and comfortable, not that 'it was all in his head the whole time'.

    That's how I took it, too. People's identities were so muddled, even to each other, that Patrick got away with the crimes. The lawyer didn't think it was Patrick that left the message, or that it was a joke. He didn't have lunch with Paul Allen the other day, probably just someone with the same haircut.

    One of my favourite twists in in the Thai horror incantation In the end saying or even thinking the chant shown throughout the movie is you accepting the burden of handing your name to the demonic force and the whole reason main protagonist Li Ronan asks the viewers to keep it in mind is because it meant they would accept the curse and dilute it enough so that her daughter would be safe from the demons attacks

    Patrick Bateman may not have killed all of the people that die in the film but he definitely tortures at least one women (prostitute) and kills the dog/homeless man. Paul Allen for me is also up in the air as to if he is really dead. To concluded it is all in his head is a leap to far for me.

    Most twists in horror movies pull the rug out from under us in a negative way -- finding out the evil villain isn't really dead, etc. But there's a little-known horror film called The Darkroom, with Lucy Lawless and Reed Diamond, that has a twist at the end that is quite moving. In a good way, that is.
