You need to understand that most movies nowadays are not made for intelligently smart people who know what a logically and rationally GOOD movie is all about. They cut from the production expenses and professional screenplay writing by hiring someone who just happens to know the right people or someone to whom one of the production team members owns "a favor". The world is full of low-intelligent sheeps who can't handle logic, reasoning or any other aspect of a GOOD movie. Instead, anything that has "good action", illogical scenes, wow-explosions or cheap jump scares goes, because it doesn't require any thinking. Then they can get back to their dull life and new pointless movies keep on coming.

I am SO glad Oculus is getting some much deserved credit!!! I’ve loved that movie for years and no one else has seen or it or enjoyed it like I thought it deserved. I’m also delighted to learn the same director made another fave, The Haunting of Hill House. Brilliant
Speaking of South Korean, 'I Saw The Devil' 2010 also deserves on this list. It's more thriller than horror But it still considered horror in IMDB. This movie was extremely crazy.
So happy green room was out on this list. That movie is criminally underrated and is one of the most intense movies released last decade

The Autopsy of Jane Doe by far one of my favorites for recent horror. I haven't fallen in love with a horror movie like I did with that movie!
M. Night Shyamalan's 'Split' turned 5 last January.
excellent picks.
Not a bad list, but some movies were grossly under-appreciated: Train to Busan is honestly one of the best zombie films of late- it is nearly exhausting to watch (in a good way) and deserved to be higher. Glad to see The Wailing and Raw both get nods. They both should be higher as well. A Ghost Story should undoubtedly be on this list as are the glaring omissions of the following: I Saw the Devil, The Lighthouse, and The Eyes of My Mother. All four of these films are far more atmospheric, suspenseful, better acted, better written, and directed than most of the films you guys had in this list. And, as others had mentioned, Don't Breathe deserves better recognition too. Good list, but it certainly has some holes and misfired on some of the rankings.
Most of this list I agree with. Hereditary freaked me out the first time I watched it and horror movies don't usually get to me. I absolutely loved Doctor Sleep. It should have been in the top 20.
#20: Oculus (2013) #19: Don't Breathe (2016) #18: Halloween (2018) #17: Evil Dead (2013) #16: Green Room (2015) #15: The Cabin in the Woods (2011) #14: Raw (2016) #13: Train to Busan (2016) #12: Sinister (2012) #11: The Wailing (2016) #10: The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) #9: Insidious (2010) #8: It (2017) #7: It Follows (2014) #6: The Witch (2015) #5: A Quiet Place (2018) #4: The Babadook (2014) #3: Get Out (2017) #2: The Conjuring (2013) #1: Hereditary (2018) Honorable Mentions: - Let Me In (2010) - Split (2016) - The Golem (2018) - V/H/S/2 (2013) - Doctor Sleep (2019)
I had to watch Hereditary twice just to understand the whole concept of the movie! And it didn't disappoint me the second time I watched it.
Out of all of these I've seen Get Out, Insidious (and it's sequels which I didn't know about) and IT I still need to see IT chapter 2 though. I might take a look at Conjuring but I have seen Annabelle and Annabelle creation and still need to see Annabelle comes home. I've also seen Us as well. All those are great movies and I'm kind of glad they were placed where they were especially get out number three? yeah that's what I'm talking about. As much as I love Evil Dead II, there's a reason the first act of that movie is a remake of the original Evil Dead. It's also worth noting that Evil Dead (2013) isn't a remake of Raimi's film, it's a continuation of that world as indicated by Ash turning up in the post-credit scene.
Coming out of the dumpster fire that was the 2000s for horror movies I'm truly happy horror has matured out of that era, the genre was on the verge of collapsing imo, so many shitty, heartless, corporate filled horror movies, as my fav genre I'm extremely happy horror is getting the respect it deserves

i agree with your number one. I believe due to the themes of anxiety portrayed in the film, it reached such a vast audience of people because of the rise of anxiety and depression throughout the public, its pretty much common now a days, and so i think a lot of people could deeply relate to the emotions of stress, hatred, anger, self hate, and that truly pulls you into that moment. Seriously though, i love that film but its the ONLY film i still find difficult to watch, but its always worth it. I have a very similar feeling towards the film Joker, both were incredible.
sinister and hereditary were the only 2 movies that legitimately creeped me out

Raw is pretty good movie
The Possession definitely should be on this list 😭
Yes Oculus was awesome it gave me nightmares for weeks!! Not since the original Candy man have I've been more afraid of mirrors!!
The Visit 2015 people rip on but I enjoyed it :) I think it deserved a honorable mention :p

Yeah I was worried that it was gonna be one of those typical CGI jumpscare movies. It's actually a solid film.

Definitely didnt see the twists coming
Wow Amazing
Pretty good list. However, I thought Sinister was really bad. Yes, the videos were creepy and unsettling, but there wasn't much else I enjoyed. I also don't get the level of praise A quiet place got. I thought it was a good film, but not revolutionnary. Personally, I would've put Doctor Sleep in the top 20 because that movie was amazing! I read the book and Mike Flanagan's adaptation was excellent. Also, Rebecca Ferguson killed it as Rose the hat. Overall great film.
