As far as I am concerned, when Mark, Derek, and Julianne hit the show, the quality of the dances sky-rocketed. These three were responsible for attracting millions of viewers. Mark, Derek, and Julianne needed to be tied for the #1 spot on this list.

Anyone else knew that Derek Hough would be at #1? I mean sure all the professional dancers are great and amazing, but he has won many trophies on that show.

It's true, and he's definitely my favorite, BUT you have to admit that the show always pairs him with someone stellar. There is some favoritism in the partner pairings for sure.

I’m sorry, but how is Mark only 11?!? He’s easily in the top 5 and one of the most creative, alongside Derek.

Mark is too low. He’s the second most successful professional after Derek on dwts. Y’all did him dirty.

Mark Ballas should have been much higher and they didn't even mention his Emmy nominations. He's my favorite!

@@kikay134 Maks was given mostly middle aged non dancers to work with, where Mark and Derek were given young athletic and in some cases trained dancers to work with. The fact that Maks could get to second place with Kirsty Ally is a testament to his skills as a chorography and dancer.

@@LostintheTwilightZone Maks has been given several ringers as well (Mel B., Heather Morris, Erin Andrews) and his choreography still hasn't been noteworthy (his jazz choreo with Heather was just so meh that I cringed.) Mark has had a few non-dancers as well (Kim Kardashian, Shannon Doherty, Bristol Palin, Candice Cameron Bure) but he still made the most of it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But still, as a pro he's had one of the most finals appearances, as well as Emmy noms. I've been watching DWTS for years and the only iconic dances I can remember from Maks were that paso with Mel B and his freestyle with Erin. From Mark, it's tons - that gorilla dance with Bristol, the Super Mario finale with Sadie, his jives with Chelsea Kane and Paige, the waltz with Lindsay Stirling, freestyle with Shawn Johnson, and many more.

Mark is the Gene Kelley of this generation. Gene Kelley was often more of an athletic, free spirited dancer than the likes of other greats of his time like Fred Astaire. As is Mark among his peers

I always felt bad for Keo his first few years. They paired him up with some truly awful partners and he tried his best.

Two season ago there were 4 couples who had to do "Jazz" routines during the season, the first 3 did NOT do Jazz routines. They did a muck up of other styles and called it Jazz and they all got really good scores. Sorry but if you do not actually do the style you are assigned you should get marked down, no matter how good the routine was otherwise. The last couple to get a Jazz routine were Keo and his partner. Keo did an actual "Jazz" routine that was absolutely incredible. He and his partner got good scores, but should have been higher.

I thought Keo was a great dancer but he was not a great instructor in the beginning. I didn't watch later so I don't know if he improved or he got better dancers. The biggest difference, I think, between the best pros and those lower on the list is the ability to instruct and choreograph to the celebs strengths. Keo wasn't that in the beginning.

Mark and Lindsay should be way higher, they are by far the most creative choreographers, I agree Derek is still #1 but Mark should’ve been at least a top 5, and Lindsay at least a top 10

I like Cheryl but her choreography skills have been lacking for some years now. She's not the genius she used to be on that matter. And Jenna is amazing as a dancer but sometimes struggles to make choreography to enhance her partners abilities instead of hers. Witney is right behind Lindsay in my book.

At first I wasn’t crazy about Jenna to be honest, but in the last few seasons I’ve realized how fantastic of a choreographer she is, especially with partners like Jojo and Nev. She’s great at playing to her partners strengths and she has created some of the most unique and brilliant routines I’ve seen. Also Daniella, one of the newest pros, is one of my favorites now. Her work with Iman this season has been outstanding. The Contemporary routine they performed for Horror night is no joke one of the best dances I’ve ever seen on the show. Her choreography has been unmatched. If she ever gets a partner who is a naturally gifted dancer, she will be unstoppable

You should watch this season cause she's now paired with Jason Mraz and he's a natural!

It's almost surprising that Julianne Hough only danced on 5 seasons. It felt like she was there a lot longer. And I mean..she was, as a judge, but besides that!

It's awesome to see some of the old pros on this list like Karina, Tony, Kym, etc.. Since they haven't been on the show in so long.

How could they not mention Sharna's INCREDIBLE season with James? :(

Putting mark ballas at 11 is absolutely laughable. We all know him and Derek are the two best of all time

I definitely believe that Mark Ballas should have been rated higher. He’s my favorite dancer and he does the best choreography in my opinion. The show hasn’t been near as good since he left.

Maks is by far my favorite dancer. I noticed years ago, he was perpetually placed in UNDERDOG positions and was under appreciated.

Mark Ballas 11!??? Y’all did him dirty.

I actually think Lindsey is better than Witney. She does a better job at elevating her dancers no matter what skill set they started with, and tailoring her choreography.

I have so many favourites but l think mark ballas should definietly be higher on this list. He is the most creative pro, in my opinion his coreos were even better than derek's. I think pasha pashkov will be on a dwts best's list because he is an absolutely amazing pro who knows his partner's strengths. He is also a blackpool champ. But this year he was really unlucky, l hope next year he gets somone young with a lot of potential.

I don’t think him being a black pool champ has to do with this video though. This video is just who’s the better choreographers out the pros, who’s basically done the best with the celebrity contestants on the show, and who’s more popular. If it was truly on who’s the best dancer out the pros, Pasha would be top 6 but Derek would not as he is not top 10, he’s not even better than Mark in their primes.

Ballas should have been higher but half of the time was not impressed or was bored by his routines. I would have put him around 5th.

I don't think they'll do that again because it wasn't very well received the first time. The general consensus was that all those people had already won and someone else should get a chance. What they could do though is maybe have a "Second-Chance All Stars" where instead of having a cast of former winners they could have a cast of runners-up that only made it to second place but now have one more shot at the 🏆😀

I totally agree... Mark is crazy talented and totally original. I remember the jungle bird dance.

Happy to see Lindsay on here!! Great personality, energy and skill. She’s often underrated being compared to Witney since sytycd.

Derek is the greatest choreographer, he always makes his partners looked good because he knows how to present their best assets and hide their weaknesses. Mark is the most creative, although sometimes he went overboard with theming, it's hard to deny the artistic genius in his choreography. Karina is by far the best dancer to ever grace DWTS. Sure as a teacher and choreographer she's not the very best, but boy can she move. My top 10 greatest DWTS pros ever, all things considered, would be: 1. Derek Hough (fav. partner: Nicole Scherzinger) 2. Mark Ballas (with Katherine Jenkins) 3. Karina Smirnoff (with Mario Lopez) 4. Kym Johnson (with Joey Fat One) 5. Lindsey Arnold (I really enjoyed her one-two punch with Alek Skarlatos and then Wanya of Boyz II Men the most) 6. Cheryl Burke (with Gilles Marini) 7. Emma Slater (with Bill Engvall) 8. I LOVE the way EMILY ABRAYTON correctly pronounces foreign last names. We non English speakers truly appreciate when people try their best to pronounce and respect one's names. They dong follow the easy way of just turn words into English similar sounds

Allison is by far one of my favorite pros I miss her and her choreography so much

Derek’s greatest winning season was with Kellie Pickler. It was a genuine win from start to finish with fabulous competition and very little judge bias.

Lindsay, Sharna, Peta, and Whitney are so amazing. They choreograph for their partner and really showcase their strengths instead of dancing around them- that’s my #1 pet peeve. I also think allison REALLY popped off with her choreo when she was w riker too tho, SHES definitely up there.

I have to agree: While I'm thrilled that Derek Hough is #1 on the list (I mean c'mon, he is the GOAT on the dance floor!), Mark Ballas should've been right behind him at #2.... Also Allison Holker was a great dancer on the show!

I'm amazed that Julianne wasn't mentioned along with brother Derek in either of their listings.

I knew Derek was going to going to be the 1st. All my faves were mentioned!!!

I love Artem!!!! All the dancers are amazing but Artem has always been my favorite

I felt the same way. Think a lot of Fans of the show did. Plus they had one of the lowest overall scores that season.

Mark #11 wtf? At least top 10.. he’s exceptional.

Derek Hough, no contest. Among the girls, I’ve always really loved Lindsey Arnold and Sharna Burgess.

There are bad dancers but there is also such a thing as a bad instructor. I can't say what his partners were like since I haven't seen all of them but I've seen some of the dancers higher on the list with weak dancers who were made stronger because their instructor was fantastic.

For me Artistry and musicality will definitely shine more if steps are missed! Even if you just make up a step that's on beat when you make a mistake! It will help people that have more 1,3 timing than 2,4... I REALLY hope to be a pro on here one day! actually i personally know someone who was on dancing with the stars way back when being Patty Contenta!!! she comes to the Studio i attend often! I don't think the professionals should be rated based on scores with partners. Some of the pros got partners who couldn't put one foot in front of the other. Then there is the fact that the fans vote and send home good dancers. Because there is a popularity portion to this contest. I just like seeing The pros. I love so many of them.

I think you should stop doing dwts lists or get someone who’s more knowledgeable about the show to do them: 1-Mark should’ve definitely made top 5. I mean you said it yourself he holds the record for 2nd place and has 2 wins 2- How is Kym higher than Cheryl? Cheryl is basically dwts hall of fame with the most number of seasons. 3- The segment about Sharna did her no justice at all. I can’t believe you didn’t mention her season with Noah, or James. 4- No mention that Peta&Sharna are also bffs, Val is Jenna’s husband, or Artem and Nicki are now engaged and have a baby together?🤔 Bottom line, if you wish to do another dwts list, please do more research first ☺️
