For all you kids asking boot camp questions, show up and be ready to follow instructions to the T.. boot camp is simple, the fleet is where things get difficult... boot camp is where you have everything done for you, your told when your getting up, and even have someone get you up, chow is already cooked and ready for you to come eat, school is pre planned and even your free time is already planned out for you...you don't have to do much of anything except learn how to follow directions without being told twice... boot camp isn't scary...all your doing is learning the basics of walking and talking like a sailor... when you get from boot camp and A school then you have a general idea of what you are supposed to be doing and how to act when you show up at your command...just pay attention and follow directions and youll be invisible..don't listen to what I said and you'll stick out and RDC's will motivate you to follow instructions...have a great time and great lakes..

Hi Austen. Question for you....my son is 22 and struggling to decide what he wants to do with his future. He is working in a factory currently and knows he does not want to do that for the rest of his life. I've watched several of your videos and you said to decide what you want to do as a job before you talk to a recruiter. Where can he find descriptions of naval jobs so he can decide before a recruiter decides for him or pushes him in the direction they want him to go? He has not gone to talk to them yet but he seems to be leaning toward the Navy. He has been taking practice ASVAB questions to prepare. Your videos are very informative and I appreciate any info you can give me.

6'3 230..big boi. Thanks for your informative videos, really helped with what to expect. I'm getting all my transcripts and stuff together to join soon, it's been a process. Studying the asvab (learning hs all over again) like crazy. I'm 30, 6'6 225, so I can imagine I'll be in the back. My bro just reenlisted; He was on the Carter Hall as a QM and now a Riverine. Been telling me for a while to join and I'm motivated af now. Thanks again for making these vids, helps a lot amigo

@@AustenAlexander so went through with the asvab and background, everything checked out except my past tickets. Didn't know the navy considered all driving infractions starting at 15. So going to reapply, my bro has a better recruiter. Hope all is well sir!

i got here from watching stolen valor videos and here is my 2 cents on basic training from an army perspective. he is 100% correct about the "do what you are told part". i do slightly disagree on the showing initiative part though. my second way to "survive" basic training would be to "blend". i would say the top 85% of our class was treated about the same, volunteering only got you more work. the bottom 15% were definitely singled out and pushed harder than the rest of us. I would also add a number 3. and that is to understand your drill sergeants. understand that their goal is to graduate as many people as possible, and work as little as possible. lol, "work as little as possible". we had all 3 of our platoons drill sergeants working 14 hours a day for the first 3 weeks, 6 days a week.
