[Top 2%] Conquering Mexico City's Challenge on First Attempt: Tunnels and Turnarounds

Ойындар

This challenge gives out an illogical amount of roundabouts and only road upgrades. Can we score high, or will we fail to plan properly?

I have never played this game before or watched any of its content, but I got recommended one of your videos a few weeks ago, and I have quickly become obsessed with it! I love your videos, they are very calming and well-done. Keep it up!

That's great to hear! There's too much unhappiness and drama in the world - I hope all of my content can give you that sense of calm for years to come. :)

Same, I just found out about this game this week through my yt recommended. Now I’m hooked and bought the game myself. I just hit my high score of 3600 in Rio de Janeiro! Watching tips and tricks really helps me out.

the game is great. its so simple at a surface level but very complicated when you dive into it. very calming, zen game. I play it while I listen to podcasts & stuff so my hands have things to do while I'm listening

Great run man, especially considering that you similarly took minimal advantage of the challenge rules as I did my first run on the Shanghai challenge (winding road something something). Roundabouts can be a game changer at the beginning as you can use them to save roads, as you were, but they also make perfect spacers to keep breathing room between building spawns and reserve space for future roads. It's true that efficiency takes a hit on roundabout vs straight road but you can replace a roundabout with a road when travel time becomes an issue. Also, the more roundabouts you throw up early on, the more space you have to fit one into a place it's actually needed when the map is filling out. Also the tunnels can be more fully utilized -- every outer road can be a tunnel and you could theoretically have layers of tunnels tiles deep for roads that don't need to cross. Roundabouts at tunnel exits can double up the benefit allowing tunnel roads to cross and then go back into the mountain if need be. Additionally, tunnels leave more room for house spawns. That does soak up more roads which is a bitch without motorways but copious roundabouts do help with road count. All that said, even using those tricks I doubt I'll beat your score but I'll give it a shot. Glad to see you revisiting Mini Motorways! I put it away for a while too and am coming back to it although the familiar frustration of one effup ruining a great run is not fun to re-live.

I finally bought this game last week and I must have absorbed some of your wisdom - my first attempt at Tokyo Challenge: "Tree's A Crowd" got a Top 2% (2567 pts)! So that's the challenge I wanna see you do; looking forward to watching you knock it out of the park 😁

Terrific run as usual. Your efforts in this one to avoid overloading roundabouts gave me some food for thought.

I just scored 6022 on the Tokyo weekly challenge. It was insane. Every business was just screaming and on the verge of collapse but it kept going and going and all I could do was swap a house or two here and there to load balance.

11:27 arent the turquoise houses in the bottom right connected to the turquoise circle? They don’t seem to be driving

didn't you do deep dives on the speeds of different things? how does the round about actually compare? I couldn't find the second deep dive on that, would love to see it though :)

kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y3WosJlpo6bbgaw.html Here you go! :) The roundabout doesn't have any sort of speed increase, and it actually increases travel time because you have to ride the circumference of the circle instead of going across the diameter. It's really useful for feeding groups of populations together, though, so long as you set it up well and don't overwhelm it.

Is this challenge different from the Rio de Janeiro one? Your tunnels were consuming roads... The Rio de Janeiro one also had unlimited tunnels but they didn't consume road tiles, only the entrance and exit. Weird.
