Like my old man like to say: "The more I know people, the more I love animals..." I get people who turn their backs to society and although I don't see myself doing the same in any near future, I do admire those who took the step...

awesome comment. I wish i could do that, just turn my back, go into the middle of nowhere, and my survival is up to me.... but you cant.. you have to buy land, pay taxes on it every year, and without any income, you cant pay the tax and they steal your land... they have the system rigged, because they are the system

I envy my cat,I'm married and I'm a slave. I find the older I get the more I don't mind loneliness. My cat works for no one and is content to be another heart beat in the room.
This proves that one can totally survive without celebrity, politics, the hive mentality, money and social media..

But they still need all the tools society creates so they can live alone, not contribute to society, and hypocritically call themselves independent. You think they could live like that 1,000 years ago? Where would they get their solar panels and genetically engineered seeds that produce 10x as much as they did back then? Where would they buy their cows and goats? It takes around 250,000 animals to keep a species from genetically inbreeding and all dying of a single disease or event as has happened multiple times throughout history with multiple domesticated animals. These people need us, we dont need them. They are not independent.

@Adam Dalton so do I. If I like society I strive to be there, aren't I? If I love reading books, I buy some, right? But as we can see some of these hermits had very bad experience in their lifes, they either lost someone important or they were traumatized by war or so. We should be careful to judge, maybe some could've been healed by a therapy but never had the chance to do so.

Sure it does. Been alone most of my life. Still alone. I just avoid most. I live in small cabin with 3 dogs for companionship. The only difference between me those guy's i like convenience electricity. Keeping my belly full. I dont care for visitors. Ive had few friends in my life . Two or three tops. One is still alive he is a childhood friend. We live two hours apart he's in bad health . He does visit couple times a year. Im deaf for the most part. We text my main source of communication. I should have went in to complete isolation when i was young. To old now . How do you sum up society. My version is haveing human contact on a daily basis naw i cant deal with the craziness. No one minds thier own business that's just the tip of the iceberg. The rest is easy.

My grandpa lived in the mountains in Northern California, 50 miles from the closest town for around 50-60 years. He would mine gold, kill his own animals, Cut His own firewood and make his own moonshine. One day he fell off a cliff & He laid there and died from his injuries with no one to help Him. He was discovered by one of my uncles who would check up on him every 3 - 6 months. He was a real cowboy (from what I hear) He made his living moving cattle and living out under the moonlight when he was younger.

I've spent a great bit of my life as a hermit. Feeling most at "home" in Nature. Loneliness, at first, nearly ended me. Once I learned to fight fire with fire I then became completely comfortable in seeking solitude. I've been more of a "nomadic" hermit as I took up long distance hiking on the National Scenic Trails in the USA. I feel much more spiritually connected in the solitudes of Nature ❤ ✌ 👣- Blessings

Avoiding loneliness is actually pretty easy. Once I heard a Buddhist Monk say that he was never alone because he was always there. That is to say, he had his own company to enjoy. This, he explained, is why he never gets lonely on months long retreats. Once I adopted this wisdom in my own life, it changed me. I've never been lonely since.

Agaifa is not mentally ill. She reads voraciously though at limited times, as you can imagine, since she is self-sufficient except for visits from the Russian University students who help her with maintenance. Her readings are from the old Russian language. She can recite liturgical texts for hours. Not exactly deficient in mind or otherwise. BTW She is VERY social and visitors are amazed at her perpetual happiness which she attributes to her ability to commune with God without the distractions of "modern" life.

If memory serves, Fred lived in Wolverhampton where I grew up. I never saw him but I did see his tent. It was set up in the centre of a large ring road island. He was very well known , something of a celebrity as people were protective of him and he was supplied with food and clothing regularly. I recall there being an article in the local paper when he died. He was mourned and sadly missed as he was a quiet and totally harmless man who just preferred his simple, solitary life.
I am these people. I am a hermit. I have autism and adaptation to society is stressful and exhaustive. I'll be over here safe from viruses and drama.
I ve been watch top 5 for a least 3 years. Always good stuff.
I saw the videos of No. 9, the Russian lady whose family fled the country. The Taiga is her only known home. But the rest of the story is shameful - the nosy geologists stirred up trouble between her and another hermit who she was having to care for or he would die. That’s all I’ll say - you can find the videos on KZread.

My grammar and spelling is really bad so hope you can read and understand what i have to say. I live off grid with my husband. In the winters here for 4 months we may only see 4 people. 5 years ago when we first came to live here we would not see anyone for the whole winter. Summer out here we would see people about once a month. Now more and more people are moving out here to have what we had peace and quiet and no neighbors. Our closest neighbor now is still 20 minutes away on a four wheel drive road. I do love it out here. People have made a real mess of things in the towns and city's. We are more then a hour from any small town and 2 1/2 hours or more from a big town. Every month we can see more and more people are moving to the country they get closer and closer to our little world. I can see why these people in the video became Hermits. All of these hermits had one thing in common, they miss their families. My husband also misses his sons and family he still feels the needs to go to our small little town, where he knows most of the people, for me if i never see another person or any of my children I'd be quite fine. My husband likes to go to town and visit people. I try my hardest to never ever go to town and yes i don't like to visit anyone either. My husband will travel 5 hour to Denver and visit his son's and one of my kids for a week while I'm home alone i just love it. Yes deep down I am a hermit and if i pass before my husband he would go back and live in the city near our families, but for me if he passes before me. I will live out the rest of my life by myself out here in the sticks.

The cold doesn't brother me anymore i don't have to get out in it unless i go play on the snowmobile i did ski but lift tickets are so out of sight. When it snows now i put wood in the fireplace look out across the valley no houses no people and no marks in the sparkling snow as far as you can see the mountain we see every day change from day to day with the snowfall. I enjoy setting in front of the fireplace working on sewing projects or quilting. No TV the last time i watch a TV was 5 years ago nice and quite. Yes as we get older our bodies do tell us to slow down and stay warm. There are so many trails out here for hiking and 4 wheeling, spring is here so I'm looking forward to exploring more of these 20 thousand acres. I ues to ride dirt bikes but i found as i get older i enjoy moving a little slower to see all the wonderful trails, an after my last spel on the dirt bike i decided i was getting to old for falling. I have to tell you the best thing is when you leave in the morning and come back in the afternoon not seeing one person all day just you and the wilderness. Then their are the trips where you find an old foundation that was old homestead at one time knowing it has to be over 100 years old. Thinking about the people that lived here had to travel by horses to get to town. Yes telling you about this place makes me smile i do live in a wonderful place.
I have been discovered. That’s my house on Ellirey island I have my hunting club hang out. I used to rent the small house to Bjork.
It’s very hard to live isolated and off the grid without people poking their nose into things. Signage only peeks curiosity. The best one however is; “Warning! Electric Fence!” And back it up with reality. I highly recommend the 30 mile type. Delivers a message!

What better choice for someone who doesn't want to be hurt by others and doesn't want to hurt others themselves than to just isolate themselves and hope no one finds them causing as little impact as possible on anyone until the end.
I could live in that first island.

That’s true my dad and my brother are in the hunting team I know you don’t believe me but it’s true
Female : " I have no contact with technology..." Same Female:" I use a solar panel to store electricity, so I can power my non-technological devices"
It's easy to understand leaving society in the rearview mirror. I have thought about doing it myself.
I have been told I am the most isolated person in the world! But by WHOM as I am alone??🥺.

Hermits are crazy, with some minor exceptions. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, SO WHAT, AS LONG AS THEY'RE HAPPY, SO BE IT!!!
Number :3 Davo from restoration island 😀 he lives on an island just 30 mins drive outside my community LHR & 60 secs from chilli beach! U could actually walk out to resto island when low tides, lovely place to live with beautiful people & alot to do😍 ahh miss home.

Off grid well before their time but for fucked up reasons.
If u do a video on other crazy events caught on camera you can include the earthquake in Albania in 26th of November 2019 and u will find footage of cameras on the streets showing buildings either collapsing or either shaking.Mostly cameras in a city called Durres
Now this would be a way to live in quarantine. 😷💘
0:39 "Till this day no one knows who lives there". That's just not true. I am from Iceland and it's no secret that this is not a private home but rather a lodge for puffin hunters. #FaithInThisChannelLost

NADS to you, amigo
Knew this was crap pretty quick. Second lady you said "lives wit no electricity and no contact with technology" at the same time you are showing her hut in background with solar panels and batteries.

Yep, came to comments to see who noticed that as well.
Someone who wasn't quite featured in number nine; used to be a neighbor to the apartment where I presently live.
I'll expect an interview when they do a top 20
I too am a misanthrope. I want to go live a hermit life.
I have wanted a cabin in the woods away from humans for a long time... I am praying that I get it in a few weeks

The same here. Did you found it?
The one from Alaska I knew from his story on PBS I would like to see his cabin some day
They hate society with a passion. 🤣🤣🤣 That makes a whole lot of sense. 🤔 I'm stuck!!! 😫
The first one of the island house is a lodge owned and built by a hunting club. they use it when hunting puffins
Why would you make the assumption that they must hate society?
