This is good, but be sure to have a spiritual Father!! Just as St. Anthony of Egypt, the first monk in Christendom did. He went and spoke with the hermits living on the outskirts of Alexandria for direction. Please be careful, this can be very dangerous for a monk without direction. Seeking out a spiritual Father is very important.

Soul AND body are sanctified together in our ancient Orthodox Faith. I would not recommend the Philokalia to non-Orthodox who live outside the Grace-filled Mysteries (esp. Holy Eucharist). We all must beware of Gnostic ("evil body") influences in Evragios. The source of evil, as the Lord tells us is "the heart". By the way, not all monks are "elders"; some are just "elderly". We pray for the gift of "discernment of spirits" - from the Holy Spirit which we ask for humbly from Christ our God.

Romanian is a mix of latin, slavic, and a few turkish words as well. The monk is talking with a slight moldavian regional accent. FYI

at least 8 of the 10 commandements are essential for me too. :) But one wise man said once. "Without religion good people are doing good things and evil people are doing evil things, but through religion even good people are able of evil things." Whatever, in the case of good people i have no problem if they are religious... i am olny afraid of the others.

They speak Romanian with Moldavian accent, maybe this is why it sounds familiar to you. Also 'da', our shared word for yes.
