@@Sfcfan120 nah it's always sad when a national agenda results in a local MP losing their seat. Dennis was never part of the cabinet or anything like that. He was the father of the house as well. His service to Bolsover is incredibly impressive but unfortunately Labour had an unelectable leader.

Dennis “the beast of Bolsover” Skinner. Probably one of the few honest MPs in the house.

Dennis Skinner also used to be a highlight for the State Opening of Parliament, because after Black Rod commands the Members of the Commons to attend the House of Lords to hear the Queen's Speech, Dennis used to say a topical heckle... one of his finest was "Royal Mail for Sale" (referring to the decision by the then Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor George Osbourne to sell off the Royal Mail to Consignia).

I'm surprised this doesn't show any incidents of MPs picking up the ceremonial mace. (The mace represents the authority of the Monarch, and the house cannot sit without it. On occasion, MPs have attempted to remove it to protest against something being discussed in parliament, effectively saying this government is not fit to govern).

I am not a Labour man but I genuinely believe Dennis Skinner to be one of the very very few honest politicians and someone who stuck by his principles.

My friend I were talking about how it looked as one of the senators (I'm from the US) were asleep and we thought "good" and wished more of them did it so they couldn't pass anymore stupid laws. But the sleeping as the form of saying your boring or full of caca also works.

Thinking about what you said, there hasn't been a good fight in congress, or parliment for that matter, for a long time. Yeah, there was a tie grabbing incident in 1985 in the during session in the House, but pretty tame. Crap, I'd have more respect for if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) slap Ted Yoho (R-Fla) for calling her a f****** b**** (not in session) and challenge him to a duel than give an hour long speech (in session). Just think, they might make a play for the loser in 200 years just like Hamilton.
