How could you have forgotten the Washington Capitals' NHL debut in the 1974-75 season? They went 8-67-5 for 21 points out of a possible 160. They allowed 448 goals, and lost by 10 or more goals in four games. They lost 39 games on the road. Somehow, the Ottawa Senators topped that in their first season. I don't think that record is going to get broken anytime soon.

Or when Tampa Bay ended its 26-game losing streak: "Three or four plane crashes, and we're in the playoffs."
The Cleveland Browns were 4-44 between 2015 and 2017. 2015: 3-13 2016: 1-15 2017: 0-16 The lone win in 2016 was on Christmas Eve, the 15th game of the season, a last second FG. From week 6 of 2015 through week 2 of 2018, they went 2-42-1 Thats disastrous
You cannot talk about the worst sports teams of all time without talking about the Cleveland Browns. That franchise has gone through a lot disappointments and bad luck such as The Drive, The Fumble, Bottlegate, Red Right 88, etc. This is a team that went 1-15 in 2016 and 0-16 the following year.

The 15/16 76ers should be here. They started 1-30 and finished 10-72. Broke the record for longest losing streak at 28 games which carried over from the year before. Also include the 2007-08 Derby County side who only picked up 1 win, scored 20 goals and concended 89 goals with their goal difference being -69 and finished with 11 points.
For some reason I immediately thought of Harry Neale during his coaching tenure early in the Vancouver Canucks existence; "Last season we couldn't win on the road. This season we can't win at home. My failure as a coach is I can't think of anywhere else to play."

“What do you think of your team's execution, coach?" McKay: "I'm in favor of it"
The Braves beat the New York Giants in 1935, not the Yankees. There were no interleague regular season games back then.
1971 wasn't Buffalo's second season as a franchise. They were one of the original AFL teams in 1960, and won that league's championship in 1964 and 1965. They merged with the NFL beginning in 1970.

Oh, you mean the Matt Millen Error Oops, Era
In football, especially the Big 5 European Leagues, there is only well-known club who had the worst season overall, Derby County. In the 2007-08 Premier League season, they only finished with the worst tally points (11), only won once against Newcastle United at home, had most defeats (29), and the worst goal differences (-69). Not to mention, they had the earliest relegation from Premier League, which happened on March, while most clubs had been relegated in April and May.
Surprised the 2017 Cleveland Browns weren't mentioned. Also, the Buccaneers were terrible their first couple seasons because their new owner at the time, Hugh Culverhouse, wasn't willing to pay players, coaches, or anyone other than himself the big bucks.
John McKay (the Buccaneer's first head coach) was known for his sense of humor - which he needed those first couple of seasons. When asked by a reporter what he thought of his team's execution, John famously said, "I'm in favor of it."
OJ was cutting through those defenses for over 2000 yards playing with the Buffalo Plumbers.

I'm not a big sports guy but, I once had a dream that the Lions won the Superbowl 7-0 and nobody believed it! Nobody in the stadium, in the sports bars, or even Detroit cheered or anything. Just country wide stares of awe and disbelief!
I'm sure this won't be the last of these lists. For example, you have the 1972-72 76ers, the 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats and the Grizzlies for the entirety of their time in Vancouver. Baseball has the 1988 Orioles, the 1961 Phillies, the 2003 Tigers, the 1962 Mets and my personal favorite - the 1993 Mets. Hockey gives us the 1992-93 Senators, the 2006-07 Flyers, the 1999-2000 Atlanta Thrashers. The NFL has had its share of horrible squads, as well (like Cleveland's winless squad from 2017, for example) or Rich Kotite's 1996, Archie Manning's Aints and Ryan Leaf's Chargers...
