Top 10 worst neighborhoods in St. Louis, MO.

Top 10 worst neighborhoods in St. Louis, MO. Some are kinda scary.
Thanks for checking out the channel.
I was just in St. Louis for a couple of days last month and it hasn’t changed in the year or so since I was there. I did have perfect weather, so that was nice.
Today's video is on the great city of St. Louis, MO.
Like all cities St. Louis has some St. Louis has some neighborhoods that should be avoided. Like all bad neighborhoods, most of the residents are decent people, they just have that 10% that ruin it for everyone. Nobody wants to buy a house and have a mortgage in these areas which makes it worse. Car's are hard to insure and the list goes on. I hope you enjoy the channel and learn something from it. Be nice to each other.

Yep, it’s a greet area. Hilariously, “Briggs” video showed images of St.Louis just north of Cervantes Convention Center on the opposite side of downtown from Soulard. smh. It’s anyone’s guess how many of the other images were incorrectly depicting the areas being discussed.

I live in the city and nope its dangerous cars get broke in monthly and theres always sirens going. Mardi Gras has got out of control w fights and women getting raped. Idk why people are in denial about the city and living in it. Ive lived here my whole life and If more people were honest about the crime and what goes on it wouldnt happen because more people would look out for it and NOT be victims. Like lock your damn cars dont leave stuff in them, dont walk alone at night etc. Duh. A safe neighborhood is a place where no crimes ever happen period and people here think its NORMAL to have break ins and burglary and its not lol. If u have been attempted car jacked on wash ave or had your purse stolen or had your car or home broke in youre rare and lucky because Ive had all that happen and i've lived here 40 years.

Ms. Leibs I was born and raised in St. Louis until the age of 20. Everything he's saying in this video is 100% true and trustworthy. It was so bad I avoided going outside as a kid and avoided the drug dealers a couple of houses up the street from us. Our neighbor murdered his wife ( I remember he used to be mean and tell kids to stay off his grass) execution style and his 2 little girl's came home to news crews and had to be informed by SAPD in front if the whole Castle Point neighborhood. A kid I went to school with was shot and killed over a bad drug deal, he was a kid just a kid very young I remember my neighborhood crying, and screaming after we found out. It was a nightmare living there but I have a few good memories. I remember the birth of HIP HOP and it came to our city....no one knew what it was. And I remember the cars of that era. Good intel in this video. 👍

I grew up in St. Louis, numbers don't tell the whole story, crime is not crime in some areas crime is high because that where people go to steal cars and items in cars and houses. In other areas gang violence is very high and therefore the crimes are more violent. My advice if you are going to visit St. Louis is stay as west as possible, south is better than north, stay the hell out of North St. Louis, anything north of downtown is very violent. If you happen to cross the river and see an exit saying East St. Louis I don't care if you got a flat tire on the bridge and you are shooting sparks everywhere do not get off on that exit, you can always call a tow truck and buy another wheel down the road a ways. Downtown is so-so, Forest park where the zoo and science center are located is not too bad during the day, most of St. Louis County outside of the parts near north St. Louis are not bad either, the farther south the lower the crime. If you must go into North St. Louis keep in mind that Missouri recognizes most states concealed carry permits, bring extra magazines just in case.

All the stats on Northside is true. All the stats on Soulard and Benton Park are just not even close to true, those areas are mostly middle class. The crime rate may be considered high but its petty crime, and Soulard has a lot of bars so its likely to do with the bars for there statistics. Benton Park West is a bit troubling though, shootings, drug related offenses, car jackings and property damage are common there.

I have to disagree about the Soulard and Benton Park neighborhoods as being the worst in the City of St. Louis. In fact these are happening places real-estate wise. I drove through this area yesterday. There are apartment complexes and even new single homes being constructed. It's true you might not want your children to go to school in this district, but I would have only a slight hesitation in moving there myself. In fact I looked at a property there that was at a bargain price. Part of the problem is that there are a lot of bars in these neighborhoods. In fact, it's almost like a party district. Crime rates are going to be higher than other places. This area is rich in historic architecture. You can buy a fully-renovated five-bedroom home from the late 1800s for what a small tract house would cost in Los Angeles. Install a security system on your home and you won't have to worry. There is no comparison between Soulard and Wells-Goodfellow or some of the other neighborhoods mentioned.

I lived in Soulard (soo' lard) for about 5 years, and thought it was great, other than having to park on the street. One thing that may be skewing the crime statistics is the size of the Mardi Gras celebration held every year - the largest outside of New Orleans if I remember correctly. The influx of drunken partiers that week really strains the city's facilities, and is likely when good portion of the annual crime is committed. I had no problems at all while I lived there. I'm in a suburb now, but miss having restaurants in walking distance, as well as the occasional parade going down my street. One of the houses in Soulard I considered buying had a (sealed) CAVE entrance from the basement - how cool is that? Soulard has flavor!

This time last year I was spun out in St. Louis. Idk what neighborhood, it was an eco-village house, but there were shootings every night. Like all-out gunfights. Couldn't go out at night, just sat around a fire listening to people die screaming. The worst blocks in KC are nothing compared to STL. There's some really amazing parks though!

I’m from a small town in Illinois, so I watched this to know what to avoid when I go to St. Louis for the two best hospitals and the two best children’s hospitals. Every day I am thankful I live this close to Barnes and to Cardinal Glennon. A couple of these you mentioned are very near the hospitals and I’ve never had a problem. Also, I went to Soulard for the night life a lot when I was younger. It is pronounced with the emphasis on the Sou, not the lard. I’m actually thankful for St. Louis.

First off Briggs, I recently found your channel a couple months back and have been really enjoying your videos. I'm a St Louis metro native and wanted to say St Louis is an odd city with skewed stats (but you did nail pretty much all of the bad neighborhoods). I am a bit surprised by Soulard as it has become a pretty expensive and more desirable place to live over the last 4-5 years. What makes St Louis weird though is the whole city/county separation. St Louis City is separate from St Louis County. This causes an odd socio-economic situation and for quite a while now anyone who can afford to leave the city moves to the county. This means once you get out of the city proper you get into some very nice neighborhoods really quick. This also explains why the city has been loosing population at a rapid rate while the metro has actually been growing (though growing really really slowly). Keep making the great videos.

While some of your neighborhoods were spot on, I feel like you kind of took a bad approach to this topic. I've worked in saint louis for 4 years now. My job requires me to go into homes. These neighborhoods can be dangerous, but you need to keep in mind that when you rag on these neighborhoods, your ragging on people's homes. Ive met so many good people that love in these spots. They don't want their neighborhoods to be like this. They get it and don't need sarcastic jokes about their traumatizing conditions. I've had people stand guard with me in the alleyway when I was working. I've had some incredibly thought provoking conversations with residents of the Peabody projects. These are human beings. Do I get anxious working in these neighborhoods? You bet. But I get too caught up in the statistics sometimes and need to realize these are human beings that live here and most want to be left alone just like I do.

Soulard and Benton Park just happen to host major city functions. There are a concentrated bars near the two stadiums that thousands frequent making it a prime theft area if you are a thief. Mardi Gras is hosted in Soulard where people from all over come to party and mill around the neighborhoods. Benton Park sits adjacent to Soulard so cars fill those streets as well since their are no garages. This once again makes for easy targets for certain periods of the year. I have family that have lived in this area for over thirty years. Once upon a time these areas were as you describe. They are very gentrified now and have become a desirable area to live. Check out the real estate prices for this area. People know that living in the city can be riskier but you live smarter. Overall Benton Park and Soulard are highly sought out for the thirty somethings. Great older homes with character, walkable for eating and drinking, close to all major highways and it continues to bring in more restaurants and business. I have to disagree with your assessment from your one vantage point. City schools may have there issues but there are many charter, private and public schools that are flourishing. Soulard Lift for Life is a prime example. They just expanded adding a grade school to their high school. I have lived in Benton Park and own a rental that has always been in demand. An insiders perspective could be taken more seriously.

I think this guy went off of crimes that took place and majority of those crimes most likely took place during Mardi Gras and other events down there but thats also when people from all over come here so those big events attract people from other states who will pray on people and commit crimes. The police make more arrests during those events than any other time so thats exactly what hes basing that off. So I do agree that during Mardi Gras it is super dangerous down there because its super easy to get away w robbing someone or commiting crimes because so many people are drunk or away from their homes so I def get it.
