@@TorqueSlayer Not really, the AI for the final fight is programmed to dodge direct shots. The only way to land a hit is to anticipate a direction the enemy will fly in and cross your fingers that she will move in that direction to make the shot hit her. It is luck based so all that needed to happen was a lucky shot to the left, right, top, or bottom. He was extremely unlucky since none of the shots panned out.

Protip: If you're trying for a world record... one should take all steps necessary to avoid unnecessary distractions, such as you know... voiced donation announcers? Why you would try for a world record and leave something like that on is beyond me.

It's no different than playing physical sports, or racing, etc. The speedrunning community is about being the most skilled person at any given game, and the easiest way to measure skill, is by the sheer perfection required to come up with a world record or any kind of good time in any given game. It takes dedication, skill, and perfection with a dash of luck. That said, you won't find _me_ speedrunning anything, but I can kinda get what they're going for?

The thing with comparing timesaves is that it's completely relative to what game it is.

I was literally sitting on the couch directly next to David Clemens when he had that choked 1:00 run on Frigate Secret Agent. This will easily go down as the worst choke in Goldeneye history, and such a missed opportunity lol.

My heart broke when i heard of Benjamins passing, i rewatch his old videos sometimes just to hear his voice again.

Alexia is pretty erratic in that phase. I think he should've devoted a bit more time to that final shot. The projectile is also quite slow: fire directly at her and she'll bob in a different direction before it hits her. I could see it being a tough shot with time constraints weighing down on you. You have to lead her a bit and fire where she's about to be and something like that warrants some extra practice imo, just so you don't leave any last-second actions to chance. Just my outlook.

Between Alexia's unpredictable movements, the slow speed of the Linear Launcher shot, and the pressure he was under, it's an easy enough choke to make. Though yeah, if he'd panicked a little less and lined up his shots better he might've actually hit her.

The "Congrats on the 1:39" Donation exactly at the moment Cheese05 misses a bowser throw is just so perfect.

What he didn’t realize is that that particular attack Ganondorf performs can hit the top of Link’s head BEFORE hitting his shield, damaging him even when he’s holding the shield out. Speed runners have lost runs due to this because most of them are unaware that Link’s head is closer to the sword than his shield is

Idk why, but watching these speedrun chokes compilations whenever I'm feeling down after having killed an almost perfect run (ahead of wr pace) of the game I'm speedrunning, sort of cheers me up in a weird way. as great a runner as Cheese is he also displays some really annoying runner traits - he's always arguing with the people commenting on his stream (who help him be a professional streamer), going out of his way to block people all the time, and actually seeming to get emotionally affected by what some idiot trolls say. I've seen many streams derailed by him giving in to the trolls. He usually just talks about the stupidity of people watching him to add fuel to the fire.

I'm 48, and I remember putting so many quarters in machines playing Pac-man, Donkey Kong, and Galaga. This is pretty fun watching the younger generations really exploring the games. We didn't have very many glitches to take advantage of way back in the day. :(

When you practice weird glitches so intensely that you loose the ability to do the casual parts.

this was so painful to watch but at least the video ended on a beautiful note

If the guy running WWHD was ahead by over an hour, why wouldn't he just keep playing after he died?

You cannot die during a speedrun unless is for strat purpose

Because the trick they used at the time, was totally RNG dependant, and the odds of getting it are less than 5% iirc

Lots of love for Abney on Mario Kart 64. A few months ago I went to a tour stop for a DJ called G Jones and he had Abney speedrun Mario Kart 64 during set change between the opener and his headline slot! It was really an amazing concert experience for that fact

It's not a choke if the game gives you bad RNG aka Resident Evil Code Veronica .

It seems to me that you can actually counter that RNG- its just a matter of hitting the enemy. Its not like the game makes it impossible or anything.

I know, I never played that game, but, unlike what most comments here say, it does seem like a pretty hard shoot- the fact that its at the end of a speedrun just makes it even harder due to the preassure. All in all, I dont fully blame the speedrunner. And I am also terrible at hitting airbone targets in games so I can relate lol.
