Well the dialogue in that scene made sense because Zuko didn't know how to respond to anything like that, AND he and Sokka we're just getting used to each other because Zuko only recently joined Team Avatar.

@@axelnilsson5124 It does matter because in the show the siege of Ba Sing Se was Iroh's greatest failure. He couldn't penetrate the inner wall after 600 freaking days of hard combat! But in the movie, the whole thing is watered down. The siege only lasted 100 days and Zhao isn't as condescending about it. It's a huge part of Iroh's backstory in the show but in the movie, it's just a waste of time.

@@karacomley2001 well judging from the movie’s earthbenders it’s not really surprising how it only took 100 days and the amount of days doesn’t really matter because he lost his son during the siege which was a plot point in the series

In the series, Aang was so ashamed of running away from the southern air temple. In the movie, he just said “I ran away from home *smiles*”

I’m ashamed to say I always skipped watching Avatar: The Last Airbender on Nickelodeon when i was a kid because of this movie i’m glad i gave it a shot when it got put on Netflix because Avatar: The Last Airbender is a masterpiece and now knowing the original source and knowing how good the show is and how much potential the movie had i just get pissed at what great a movie it could’ve been

I saw the movie in the theatre prior to seeing the actual show it was based on. I watched the show shortly after & from there the only thing I really like about the movie is the soundtrack and the end when Aang goes into the Avatar state. I loved the actual show so much I bought the series on blu-ray and look forward to the rpg in the works.

Ozai is meant to be the embodiment of evil. The Ozai in the movie appeared totally normal. No dramatic lighting or music. It was totally dry and inspired no fear

"Top 10 Worst Changes in The Last Airbender Movie" 1. EVERYTHING THATS DIFFERENT

Avatar: the Last Airbender has been my favorite show when I was a kid. Saw it again in 2018 and I was amazed on just how much more incredible it truly is on a variety of levels. According to a friend of mine who's going into filmmaking, he had to see this movie mandatorily to decipher everything that's wrong with it (appearrently it's considered an example of what NOT to make from a movie).

Another huge blunder: in the animated series Zuko has a pretty nasty burn scar on his face, however it's barely noticeable in the film.

I couldn't really see Zuko's Scar, even though it's a big part of his character. Seriously, I could barely see it. It's like this version of Fire Lord Ozai just slapped him in the face.

One of (if not THE) greatest shows ever adopted to live action. Sounds great! The fact this was so horribly messed up is Shyamalan's greatest plot twist ever. Such high hopes for this film but with the show's popularity I feel a more talented team will assemble to deliver us the true live action adaptation that us fans want.

The bending in the movie looks like that one fire bender trying to bend during the eclipse

General Rendar I appreciate your opinion, I basically said the same thing when I wrote that he cast “3 white actors for the lead roles”. I absolutely agree that “they put them in the wrong place”, they put them in the wrong movie. The General consensus is that the whitewashing of the lead roles is one the the main reasons the movie is universally hated. Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember seeing any white characters in the show, or even hearing any names apart from Jet that could be interpreted as a “white” name. Aang, Appa, Sokka, Katara, Gyatso, Momo, Bumi, Zuko, Iroh, Mai, Azula, Ty Lee, Suki, Yue, Zhao, Ozai, Long Feng, Roku, Kyoshi, Kya, Lu Ten, Hakoda, Pakku, Jeong Jeong

@@ok-lo9pl when you look at aang's name in chinese characters (as shown in one scene in the atla series), it's 安昂, and that is pronounced the way it was pronounced in the film, so it's correct. Westerners tend to pronounce aang or ang as similar to "e-ng" but technically it should be "ah-ng". (hopefully that explains, it is quite difficult to explain pronunciations using text haha.)

After Artemis Fowl, that is three movies in which the original content was loved by fans but the movie adaptation was terrible. This proves that we shouldn't ignore the existence of the movies, and that we should admit publicly they are terrible, especially if we don't want it to happen again. They really put on a whole performance to have a pebble float across the screen

To me the worst problem was trying to push the first season into one movie. Not only they took important plot points for the future, they also thought we are idiots because they just told us everything instead of showing us. Like Zhao learning about the moon spirit and burning part of the library was perfectly explained in the show but in the movie he just tells the firelord or him figuring out Zuko was the Blue Spirit.

Dang, even the kids hated it, that says something.

They actually managed to make bending look highly impractical, that should be an achievement in on itself. Watching them literally stop and 'dance' anytime someone needed to bend was jarring.

honestly, I wouldn't mind if a movie is 5 hours long as long as it's true to the original.

First season: Ozai is always a shadow, representing how Zuko feels distanced from him and the Fire Nation. Second season: As Zuko begins to change as a person, we see more of Ozai's face, representing that Zuko is beginning to accept the situation. Third season: Zuko has made his decision about who he is, and we see Ozai's full face. Movie: Here have a guy who looks absolutely NOTHING like Ozai.

There’s also this change where it went from animated to live action

the things worth of praise in this movie are the costume design, set design and art direction - the photography and framing looks nice too. I can't tell precisely, it has been awhile since i've watched the movie

Iroh tells him near the end of 'The Avatar and The Firelord' after Zuko reads about Roku and Sozin's relationship and assumes he meant Sozin when Iroh sent the message telling him to read up on his great-grandfather.
