Omg thank you for this comment I just watched this terrible movie again and katara doesent have her loop things iroh doesn’t even look close like he should uwaes dad never died and zuko doesent even have a scar and this movie was not even close to our favorite aang we all know and love I really hope they make the new avatar show have a good casting and that they take their time and don’t rush it like this movie did and since it’s going to be made by the people who made the actual show it should be well thought and be a good show I can’t wait for it to come out

To be fair to the movie, I don't think those are actual benders, just some guys with a little training. The man at the beginning said that the nonbenders were left alone, if imprisoned.

I was introduced to the series by watching this film, since I never knew the series before, I was totally in love with this film, it was so magical! Then I found out there was a series and immediately started bingewatching it... Now I get what yall mean :')

People bash it little more than it really deserves but undeniably they didn't make it true to the original, they fucked up how firebending works, special effects of bending in fights are just sad, Appa looks weird, humor is not done right and writting is off as well as acting, there are some beautiful sceneries and waterbending looked good but everything else was a joke.

can we just not ignore the fact the kids in the actual show are like 12-16 years old and sokka literally looks 36 in this movie

Merci! Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Momo's species is actually a lemu, not whatever they called his species in the movie. When the earthbenders were captured, they were imprisoned on a metal ship, not in an encampment surrounded by the very element they bend and Katara was the only one captured in the episode that particular scene in the movie revolves around. In the show, it's only the earthbenders who are captured while all other benders get to roam free. Katara made it look like she could bend earth by using an air vent and Aang's airbending, but in the movie she was captured just for being a waterbender. Ugh, I think I lost a few brain cells while watching The Last Airbender despite the fact that I was only half paying attention.

“It’s cute they thought they were gonna make 3 of these” was a harder blow than any hit in that movie

God this movie makes me appreciate the animated show so much more

This movie was essentially just a live action version of the Ember Island play. For the record. This isn’t an insult to the play. The play was “terrible” on purpose, while this was not. That’s what made the play so good. This movie was trying to be something new and serious, which is what made it a terrible recreation.

Zuko in this movie barely has a scar where in the show his right eye was badly burned.

When the final sin total came in before the mega bonus points, I must say I was surprised how low it was and how pleasantly surprised I was to see how much you corrected that mistake LOL honestly one of the most clever sin totals you guys ever put together! They dont create fire, they can only use it. Only the god tier firebanders can create fire out of their chi. Edit: The rest usually draw it from the sun. Thus on solar eclipses they cant bend. Where uncle was there was no sun light if im correct.

Yes, but as i said, thats zuko and Iroh. Normal soldiers have to have fire around to be able to use their fireblending skills. And in the first season, only Iroh is able to CREATE fire out of nowhere. By the way, back then Zuko also needed fire around him, he couldnt create it yet. This is the whole point of ending the war the asteroid day, since all soldiers could create fire for free, your army power is increased by a lot, and therefore you can make a huge punch. For example, in the battle seen in this movie, the battle of the north pole, the ships has to send giant fireballs into the city so soldiers can blend fire. Thats why all run away from Iroh, because being able to create fire was something only Iroh and his brother could do at that time. Its also why they turned all fires off before the battle

You are right, i watch the second episode again. Seems like i was confused by the fact that normally, fireblenders have fire camps around them, and i though, oh, smart, since they need it, turns out they dont need it. Then i dont understand the fireballs, maybe im confusing the film and the series, since i watched it a long time ago. Thanks guys for correcting me, and my sincere apologies Edit: well, turns out i wasnt that wrong, just confused. It seems like they draw normal fire bending from the sun, that's the reason why they cant bend on solar eclipses.

Valid criticisms aside, Aang did find out about the air temple's destruction in a similar way and the tribes do wear their own different coloured attire in the cartoon :)

If anything this movie is a master of memes. Between the 6 guys dancing to move a small rock and the penis hair it has enough to go around.

every bender is kinda messed up due to terrible coreography. all of the bending need a lot amount of moves to pull something small (im looking at you 6 earth benders who tried to float a rock into fire army) making them inefficient to use for a fight. fire benders need a source making them too weak and it become question htf they able to dominate the war, and with those unnecessary moves, pretty sure bow sword or any other weapons is much better than bending ability. even bare hand is much better.

Which always kinda annoyed me, like all the other elements need they’re element near them, and then hands go flame flame in the fire nation. It’s MAYBE the one thing I kinda liked out of the movie, like finding a $20 bill after you come out of a plane crash. Edit: after a few people explained it in a few different ways I realize that them producing fire nearly everywhere makes sense, and would like to retract my earlier statement.

Yeather _ not really, fire is a form of energy so i imagine that being the most powerful nation they learned to control the energy in their bodies and make fire from it. It’s gotta be why bending fire is so much more difficult than anything else, and learning new way to bend fire. Just a thought tho so the movie is no way justifiable

Supposedly it was because that'd make fire bending too OP, the only element that can be used anywhere and anytime. However... air is everywhere, earth is almost everywhere, and waterbenders can do a lot with a little water that they bring with them, and part of the story takes place at the polar regions. This makes firebending useless (put out a torch and it's all over.)

@@yeather_6562 Actually, the fire benders from the cartoon DO have a source for their element: their own body heat. In the Book of Fire, we see a Fire Nation prison with a special cold room for misbehaving fire bender prisoners; the theory being that it's so cold that any attempt at fire bending will either fail or lead to instantaneous hypothermic shock. Much earlier, in the last few episodes of the Book of Water, we have Iroh reminding Zuko to use his "breath of fire" during the attack on the North Pole. Zuko uses it to not freeze to death while diving in literal polar sea water.

I am a strong believer that not every animated show or movie needs to be made into a live-action. This movie proves my point.

The “air karate” is in the show it’s just that every move is accompanied by the respective element and each element had its own martial art to it so it doesn’t look janky af. That earth bender scene for example 😂 atrocious. That many earth benders bending simultaneously would cause quakes not just a small rock

I mean there's necessarily wrong with that it was created by 2 white people and the voice actors for Sokka, Katara, and Aang were white ,if the movie had a good plot and the actors were really good, it wouldn't have mattered as much if they were white but the plot was bad ,the acting was bad ,everything about the movie was bad !!!!!

SoapyTurtles It's this short probably because the movie is so bad that CinemaSins didn't want his viewers to suffer from more exposure to the movie monstrosity than what's necessary. So he made it up with the Combos! Had he not done that, the video would probably be (Intro time + Movie time + Outro time + Misc time) long.
