Honorable mentions: 1. Dennis Miller's short-lived 2000 career as a Monday Night Football commentator. 2. Matt Rowan. In 2021, during the playing of the national anthem at an Oklahoma high school basketball game, he was caught on a hot mic using the n-word after one of the teams kneeled while the anthem was playing.

I'm surprised Grant Napear didn't make the list. He was the TV play-by-play guy for the Sacramento Kings since the '80s and was fired in 2020 for tweeting "All Lives Matter" in response to a tweet from DeMarcus Cousins on the Black Lives Matter movement. Definitely a controversial and divisive moment here in Sacramento since he was the literal voice of the team for decades.

I lived in Maine when the Shaw and company scandal broke. The female athletes involved were playing for a different school (Easton) than the game the announcers were covering when the incident happened, and in small town Maine it didn't sit well that they said this. The school the athletes played for is a small school with barely enough players to make a team, more than half were urged to compete so the team could be fielded, including the athletes involved. It was extremely appalling that remarks like this, and controversy erupted the minute the remarks were said. Other coaches and folks affiliated with the school Mr. Shaw used to be an athletic director for (Presque Isle if I remember right) said he's always been like this but never was caught until now.

While Rush Limbaugh's comments about Donovan McNabb were vile and racist I wouldn't put him on the list solely for the reason that I don't consider him to have ever been a legitimate sports announcer. He never should have been given a platform on ESPN in the first place. He was nothing more a hateful and divisive radio host. Yes, he was wildly popular among the right wing crowd and made billions off his brand, so hats off for that success I suppose. But, in the end all he did was spew hateful rhetoric day in and day out, he never made any legitimate contribution to society and it's sickening that he was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Someone getting fired for calling an athlete out of shape might be the dumbest S!@#$% I've ever heard in my life. The Jimmy the Greek thing was debatable.....I was a kid and I remember that vividly! They had 2 other insists of him saying that about white players. It was racist times back then and they made an example of him. Maybe he was getting too famous..Who knows

His apology was interrupted by a home run...... as there is a drive hit into a deep left field by Castellanos and that will be a home run. So that will make it a 4-0 ballgame. I don't know if I am going to be putting on this headset again. I don't know if it's going to be for the Reds. I don't know if it's going to be for my bosses at Fox. I want to apologize for the people who sign my paychecks, for the Reds, for Fox Sports Ohio, for the people that I work with, and for anybody that I offended here tonight. I can not begin to tell you how truly sorry I am. It is not who I am and it never has been and I would like to think that I can have some people that can back that up. I am very, very sorry and I beg for your forgiveness. Jim Day will be taking you the rest of the way home.

@@Jafiveon No, I say that because, in the end, his life had a profound impact on society. He pioneered talk radio, which subsequently gave rise to numerous careers and paved the way for the evolution of podcasts (consider this: podcasts are essentially a contemporary form of talk radio). Without his influence, the conservative landscape might not be as extensive, and he played a significant role in the early stages of the MAGA movement. Rush didn't care what people thought of him. For example, among those who listened to Rush, there is an iconic story about him. There was a time when he went to a golf event on his private jet but forgot his favorite driver. So what did he do? He had that driver sent to him on his second private jet (with the driver being the only passenger). He always emphasized that if you earned your money and wealth, use it the way you want to use it and never apologize for it.
