Agreed. The ride is more important than the destination! Enjoy it and stop to smell the flowers along the way. I don't want to rush to some end game, I want to take months getting to know the lore and the nuances. Yes I will die and yes I will come away some days scratching my head, but that's OK. That is how it is meant to be.

I have been surprised at how much I am enjoying this game. I didn’t have any expectation for it and it has blown me away. The only thing I would like changed is spawn rate of certain enemies. It took me a couple hours to finish getting deer antlers from a specific area due to the amount of people there and low spawn rate

For quests like that, unless its the main quest you should look at the xp reward and think to yourself. "Is the reward for this quest worth the time im spending to finish it"

They should implement a way for the zones to get faster spawn times depending on how many players are in the zone Because having 2 deer spawning every 8 minutes when there is litterally 15-20 players running around and going for them is super annoying There should also be a way to guarantee Quest item drops when you contribute to the kill as when killing the deer you also need to skin it now and doing both at the same time is almost impossible I had to kill 9 deer to be able to skin 3 🙃

top 1 things i wish i knew before i started playing NW : ignore the sheep quest, and after you fool yourself once never take it again.

I like the fast travel limitations early on. It makes you explore and strategize. This game is a lot deeper than I initial though. Looks so good

There's no "rule" for what to pick in MMO's. Just tried them out (you can free respect at any time until lvl 20 at least) and pick what you enjoy the most. Rapier seems to be decent since a few of the skills can negate incoming attacks, which makes it possible to even kill higher-level mobs than you. The great axe also feels pretty good. I've read that the 1-handed axe on the berserker side is good as well.

I like the look of this game...but is anyone else annoyed by the running animation? It's like your character is running on a treadmill, feet moving faster than your character is moving forward. Does that make sense?

Tbf ALOT of animation needs polish, combat in general can be very floaty and could use better tells for counters / blocks etc. But I'm fairly confident the devs are giving it their all and will get there, its come a long way since the Alpha and generally feedback is taken and implement into patches

Dude, solid video! Learned some things. I love this game so far and I can't wait to dive in hard when it's fully released. This is a definite breath of fresh air for the MMORPG genre.

RE: Azoth - the information you give here is somewhat lacking. Sure, you get larger amounts of Azoth for doing the main/side quests, but this is a finate amount. The most lucrative way to gain Azoth is by killing mobs, and specfically the undead. You can als gain Azoth through the tool perk Azoth Extraction

The Azoth Etraction perk is greatly under utilized or appreciated in my opinion. Simply having a really good tool (preferably one you use often like a Axe or Skinning knife) with the Azoth Extraction perk means you can easily and quickly replenish your Azoth stockpile by simply taking a few minutes and chopping some trees. During beta, I had both a Lumber Axe and a Skinning Knife which both had the extraction perk, and regardless of how much I fast travelled, I never ran out of Azoth. Granted, I was leveling professions so I was out gathering wood, iron, and rawhide nearly constantly. But even if I was just out questing, when I was finished questing, I would make sure to take a few minutes to completely fill my bags with some local resource (wood, ores, or rawhide) once I was done with the quests before I recalled to my inn. This meant that not only did I usually have so much raw resources that I sometimes found myself either selling the excess ones for gold or just refining them up to the next tier just to reduce storage weight, but it also meant that I usually always had max Azoth in stock and could then fast travel (or craft with the Azoth) regardless of how much it was going to cost. As you get up to higher tier and higher quality tools, they start (possibly) having more/better perks. My pickaxe by the end of the beta was a blue-quality Starmetal Pickaxe with the Azoth Extraction, Increases rare drop (so more gems), and increased resource (more resources per ore vein) perks... it was a beast for making iron/silver ore runs.

@@DeadlyRainbowz243 you get 10-20 azoth as an uncommon drop from nearly every mob and you can even get a vial of suspended azoth as a rare drop wich contains 30-100 azoth as far as i noticed. And if you wear a "drop rate of rare items from mobs" enchanted set you can get 2 vials per 20 min if your lucky and an hour at max.

Absolutely loving hatchet with life staff. Sacred ground plus berserker

I’m genuinely enjoying the beta. The resource gathering feels rewarding. The crafting system is good and in depth. The raids are paced just long enough to not feel like a chore. My negatives are the caps on resources like Azoth and faction coins. And they need to have a few more teleport shrines across the land.

Cap on faction coins goes up quite abit as you gain levels in your faction , went from 3 k. To 10k , not sure on higher levels yet 😁👍 loving the game so far

I was also gaining azoth in the first dungeon. Additionally, you can craft gathering tools that have a chance to give you 1 azoth when harvesting (like, 35% chance to gain 1), it adds up over time with all the gathering you can do!

or you can just do a few random crafts and get a green random upgrade with a possible azoth... if all else fails farm for materials with the crap tools and craft untill you get a random with azoth harvester on it

So I didnt realize this till like level 21 but when you go to faction rewards you will see "rune of holding" and this can be crafted with the course leather handbag and gives a good bump to you carry weight 50lbs extra at level 15

you can also add Azoth to the crafting of the satchel to get perks to give you even more carry capacity or a reduction of weight of certain types of items. For the first tier of satchel that you can craft however, I would recommend NOT using any azoth as I think that may make the "green" version become bound to the player (can no longer get into the beta to verify this anymore since beta is ended). If you "settle" for the common tier version, it does not become soulbound after it is used, meaning you can recoup some money by selling the satchel once you eventually upgrade your satchels to higher tier ones later in the progression.

As for the weapon combo, life staff and ice gauntlet (builder) are good together for solo leveling and PvE, as builder tree gives you ice block from WoW paired with evocation, so you get invul+mana really quick mana regen, and before casting ice block on yourself you can also put ice pylon and regen circle from life staff under yourself for healing as well as mana regen.

It’s a good thing, but I hate that I love every weapon in the game. My gold will dry up just from attribute swapping

I would like to add one extension: You will get Aether from excavations as well. Rather a lot, both from mobs and bosses. I have always been on my cap, while continuously fast travelling and crafting.

Thanks for the info! Answers a lot of my questions even at level 28. Spear/musket is my favorite combo so far. Loving the game, but, the few times I decided to pvp I really hated it. I’m afraid that the true end game of new world will be too pvp centric which won’t be for me ;(

Skillup was once talking about how devs can introduce variation into the 30 second gameplay (adding areas, weapons, skills, etc), and the last thing he was was "PvP naturally varies up the 30 second loop), so like you said, the devs have to do very little to keep PvP "fresh"

I hate the chat. There needs to be a real chat window that we can adjust like virtually every other game has.

Started as tank, with heal offspec, then changed to musket/rapier. Liked both but would recommend pairing 2 weaps which have same main/second stat bonus. Team up and go PvP to level faster with faction missions too. Azoth can be farmed from particular enemies (like skeletons) and also there are profession buffs for your tools which offer a change to drop on every harvested resource.

Such a awesome and ingenious method for crafting and identifying mats!

Bought the game yesterday, no research I just wanted to play a new game. Seems the older I get , the more complicated MMOs get. Ive never been so overwhelmed, alot of moving parts here. Appreciate the video!

Id recommend go im your key binds and bind you weapon swap easy to switch just using one button like a mouse button but go into your visuals as well so you can see both weapon ability bars. You can use the same button to cancel your roll animation so you dont stop after the roll finishes so you can move or get away faster

I can't wait to give this a go. Every time I watch videos about it it makes me want to play it more and more. With any new MMO it makes me so sad that the state of gaming these days is all about people asking "What's the best ...?" "What's the quickest way to level?" etc . Enjoy the game that you paid for or are paying for if it's a subscription model. Enjoy discovering things, enjoy levelling up and playing the game, enjoy finding out which weapon you like the most. Sad times we live in.

Speedrunning and rushing to max lvl/gear to pvp better was always the goal in pvp-heavy games. I've played a game like this over 15 years ago and it was already there. There are pve-oriented games in which it's better to take it easy and not care. NW has territory influence, wars, fort attacks, or simply small/big scale pvp to not make other factions get influence on your terrain. If people were running around and killing mobs/picking up flowers for fun exclusively, it would make no sense, because once other faction takes over, your life becomes worse, cause taxes and no bonuses, so you want to keep that terrain for you, and that's very fun. I mean there are many pve players, but it's not the main point with this one. It's made for pvp focus. I think what NW does right is the balance between PvE and PvP, you can do both, just don't flag yourself all the time.

Raiper / Bow has been doing work for me. Kills elites fast and regular mobs die in just one raiper combo.

I was Hatchet/Musket the last time I played, This time I have tried out the weapons again and I know that Musket is a must for me, but pairing it with Rapier, Hatchet and Spear feels equally good. Atm I have a Rapier and I like how fast it is.

Loving the rapier/musk combo. It feels limited in regards to aoe but I really don't care, it's so fun to play with this combo and the damage output feels insanely good.

I played rapier bow until lvl 30 and it worked great but now im playing Firestaff+Ice gauntlet (currently 50) and its so fun to play

i only played 2 days on the beta(just to get the feel of it) and the best advice is spend the time to find things your self. don't lvel up to quick. I already know i am going to find my self in the level teens range after the first month after official release.

List of questions I had no one knew. Where can I rank my faction up? Click side quests. The video said main but thats incorrect. Follow the instructions and be at least lv. 20. It took me forever to get this done and literally no one could answer my question.

I just saw a level 45 paladin build for a faction war earlier today. He was using sword & shield / lifestaff combo and put about 100+ focus and 190+ constitution. Tanky AF but dealt little damage. He took a total of almost 500k damage and only died twice.

Another REALLY Good way to get Azoth is gathering. You can get Certian Perks on your Tools that give a 1/3 chance of gathering 1 Azoth when gathering something with that tool. That might not seem like a lot, but it adds up VERY Quickly.

Oh wow... had no idea about the damage colors. That's very useful.

The town projects were on a 5min refresh rate. and the cooldown refreshes all not accepted missions. ontop, you can easily do it solo and you don't have to have support from anyone else.

You can find hemp if your harvesting level is 25 as its shown on the video and you can spot it on the compass thing above your screen. So ill say keep grinding on the early level because it will be useful once you get to higher level plants that need specific level to harvest it

The UI in this game is just so nice. But it really needs a damn minimap

too many games like this people play with their eyes glued to the minimap, you never learn your surroundings and often miss out on just appreciating how beautiful the world looks, its a design choice that makes you occasionally go the wrong way, in the hopes you'll discover something cool, which i've happened to do alot unintentionally. It's designed to be immersive.

I also have to admit i like not haveing a mini map since you dont have to stop to use the big map so i am totally fien i just check for unpassable terrain etc every now and then but mostly i use the skyrim style compass at the top it is extremely immersive. And i am one of those eyes glued to minimap so i can say you appreciate the surroundings way more and you learn wher to go by memory way faster.

I had a question about buffs and passives stacking to your other weapon bar. IE Berserk from hatched is a buff, does it stay active when i swap weapons? IE passive Counter Attack from sword, does it buff your other weapon attacks too? Hope you can enlighten me a bit. Had no real success in Reddit.

No sir, the berserker ends the moment you switch weapons, don’t know about the passive but Id say it doesn’t work either

Just a heads up. If you aim for the head on something like a bow you will get a crit/orange damage.

Rapier and Ice gauntlet, I place the turret the AoE cold and then I change to rapier very effective for my playstyle although I am looking for other combs, I try to balance Dexterity and Intelligence mostly !!

I also have been doing rapier/ice gauntlet. Did my first raid/expedition last night with it and I was doing a lot of dps using the gauntlet for its abilities and then switching for the rapier for added dps,bleeds, and abilities. Only problem is that you get fucked on when it comes to being hit and trying to defend yourself lol

I just hope the game devs find a way to make the balance of the factions keep in check, a lot of guide suggest us to go to a most dominant factions in the server that like a recipe to a short lived and toxic server. Maybe they can keep a feature that lure new players and motivate existing ones to keep the spirit to fight and win the war (some kind of better bonuses for newcomers or extra quest to gain a slight opportunity for lesser factions to comeback), because we want this game to be keep challenging for the players so somekind of mechanism that give the factions equal opportunity to win the war may help the game live longer.

imo the shield being locked behind the sword is dumb as f*ck. The shield should be usable with any 1-handed weapon.

@@dan3458 so you dont understand the system. Its not 3 skills, its 3 per weapon. You need to weapon switch, to combo. Theres a reason why Dark Souls is considered the best combat game in the world, and it only has a light and heavy attack. Its not about spamming left click, its about realizing that each weapon has a different attack for left click and using them properly. Good luck in PvP if you're just gonna spam and not use the moveset properly.

id like to know if i have a fire staff can i max out both skill tree or should i craft another one or just get another character?

Greataxe is pretty much meta now.. Once u know animation cancelling an greataxe deals tremendous amounts of damage in no time at all has insane gap closers and if u rock light armor with it... Nobody escapes

I’m really enjoying spear/musket. Some trap skills on musket for control.

I love to see in the comments that almost no two people are running the same weapons combo....that shows a good amount of balance/fun level for all the items. I haven't played yet (I'll be in the open beta on the 9th), but I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far.

Question. Anyone notice a trade off between using bows/guns that require ammunition vs mana based weapons that dont? I'm really enjoying using a bow and craft arrows is pretty easy. However, I'm still curious if anyone who has tried both has seen any pros/cons?

I enjoyed Sword/Board with Life Staff. Makes a Pally build which was really fun.

Lifestaff and spear is what i have used full focus, love it for soloing

bow raiper i do the counter get some m1s in dodge behind the person then use the spinning move and dodge backwards to get distance then start hammering them with my bow

I never knew you could press E to get a player back up after being knocked down/on deaths door. Amount of people who don't know this either is huge. Something that should be taught early on in a quest.

Rapier/Musket is the gonna be the sleeper combo I think. Dex/Int combo. Imagine one-shotting mobs as a musketeer, so much fun lol

This is the combo I used for solo leveling in beta. Rapier/Musket with first 50 points put into Constitution and then points into Dexterity after that. The reason I went with 50 into Constitution first is that who cares if the mobs hit you when your HP pool is ridiculously huge for your level (plus you also get a bonus to resource gathering at 50, so it lets you level crafting and hence get better project board quests faster). You don't even need to block or dodge, so it is basically a glass cannon build that isn't made of glass anymore. Big, fast damage output with a oversized health pool. In addition, if you don't need to dodge or block to stay alive with the bigger HP pool, then you don't need to wear light/medium armor and can instead go with almost full Heavy armor (with just gloves or boots being medium) and really mitigate a lot of the incoming damage. Add in a few damage mitigation gems and you can literally go toe to toe with just about any non-elite mob and just outlast them.

Just started with the Hatchet and it feels really god, better than Rapier to me.. Think i will pair it with a musket just because i love the sound. (it also has really good dmg)

atm musket in pve is poop but god tier in pvp yes i know its beta and most likely will change. if u wanted full on glass cannon melee. hatchet + rapier

@@vobic13 I tried the rapier and thought it was meh. also kind of wanted to do a 1 melee 1 range type combo. but then i started looking at something like Hatchet and 2h axe and thought it could be really nice in PVE

@@AerikCook Rapier is more then just meh, once you get bleeds rolling then have every hit make your CDs come up faster to then add more bleeds LOL its a jet engine truck on a drag strip

I was using spear and musket as an luring thing. Found it quite convenient. (PvE only)

rapier + musket (dex/int) was fun to play.. while staff would be lot cheaper.. as ammo takes quite lot of resources.

I think the biggest problem is to get some materials where many players are or that are rare to get like Fae Iron.

Can I equip two weapons of the same type and thus access more of the active skills at a time for said weapon?

There's a lot to like about the game, but also a lot to be desired, however even the downsides can be overlooked, this game has a lot of potential; - The combat is great! But I wish there was more weapon variety; claymore, halberd, crossbow, pistol, dagger, whip, flail, mace, dual wield options, storm magic, poison magic, throwables etc. and possibly even a RMB parry &/or shield RMB -> LMB bash, a kick to shield break - I think the only big issues with the combat is they need to look at the ranged/magic a bit more, and sword/shield tuning, and there needs to be a bit more abilities (or just weapons) - I really like the dodge mechanics (Heavy/Med/Light) in the game but the enemy A.I. does leave much to be desired, however the combat is very good, feels impactful, feels threatening etc - Fishing is an awesome late addition to the game, probably the best minigame fishing in any mmo to be honest - Being able to prone & crouch is interesting but lack of stealth mechanics and/or a crime / system punishment seems odd - Dungeons are interesting but I was hoping for more huge public dungeons & caves (something like Black Rock Depths in size from WoW or even Darkness Falls in Daoc) - Could use a bit more enemy variety, but overall, it's not bad at all! The world makes sense and each zone has spread out content - Lack of swimming & sprinting is really jarring for me... if they added even top surface swimming (say with stamina drain?) that would be great! - I was hoping player ships would be in the game... but c'est la vie - I think the games economy & crafters could use equipment that breaks more often to be honest (within reason) - Jumping feels a bit odd but climbing & vaulting is incredible! - The Factions are cool but could use a bit more unique content between them - The PvP wars are really interesting because you want to hold onto Settlements that have high upgrades and your stuff, house, preferable farming areas etc etc - Kind of wish there were trade wagons between settlements of the same faction for possible raiding and moving of resources etc - The crafting and gathering (and how the resources are biome specific!) is seriously awesome in this game, it's a strong core to expand upon - I am a sucker for unique animations so I would have loved more idle animations etc or even a choice between left/right hand etc we all look pretty much the same *shrug* - The graphics are seriously amazing and the animations overall are strong - The settlements could use a bit of NPC life, instruments would be cool for players to use in taverns for buffs etc - With all the running we do, torches in an off-hand (debuff cleansing?) & night time (corruption) should play a role - Mounts... it really needs just horses to be honest (lots of unique horses and ways to customize them!) have them stored in stables & act as a pet when dismounted, display trophies on em etc Overall it's a good game with a strong core, I hope they keep expanding it, and keep adding to the world instead of making content islands to break apart the world like other MMO's end up doing

hey 2 questions. end game dungeon loot - boss drop loot is need/greed/pass for all players in party OR every player in team have his own loot? are there item sets?

everyone gets their own loot, the type of loot you get has no correlation to your skills or abilities. You can get anything just like regular drops or loot.

rapier + life staff is my go to rn but mostly because i've been solo levelling

I love hatchet and fire staff, going to try ice gauntlet before it ends tomorrow

Just started the game and I'm using the bow and rapier never played in beta but these weapons seem really nice but I also heard they nerfed the hell out of bow but oh well I still like it. Also does the gear score affect gear like should I always equip better gear score items over stats or no?

1 thing i hate in this game is that its sooo addicting and it still in beta hope its already august 31 lol.

I love the crafting in this game the most- I hate only having 2 skill trees per weapon. I feel way too limited on my customization and how i want to play. Only 3 skills per weapon is also very limiting. 4/5 skills per weapon with 3 skill trees would feel 1000000x better.

On the topic of faction gear. WHat faction would be best based on them having different stats eg. Syndicate having more damage compared to marauders or covenant.

weapons, Hatchet+Lifestaff for leveling. For PvP GreatAxe+Lifestaff, or Firestaff instead of the Axe for grp pvp

@vulkan: it might be my imagination but I think sometimes when I block with [sword/shield] on a certain time then it does bonus counter damage. Is this true?

That's because you took the counter block node on the shield tree! It will give you a 10% bonus when you block an attack.

To be clear for those curious about the best weapon section. The sword and shield are not the ONLY way to tank. Its just traditional, there are a few weapons that provide rotating defensive and threat generating capabilities. For example the war hammer has lots of damage reduction and 1 aoe taunt if you put the right gem in. The sword and shield of course is the strongest when it comes to easy to play defensive tanking. The game prides itself on being able to do more than one build don't lock yourself to what others think are meta when in reality lots of options work.

yes you can try to be one but you'll never really be a tank, not without a shield, nothing else is able to tank the end game content like the sword and shield.

Rapier / Hatchet has been a blast for me

Good weapon combos: Tank: main tank (spec: cons + str) : sword/shield (main) + hatchet (off) Paladin (spec: cons + focus) : sword/shield (main) + life staff (off) Support: main heal (spec: focus): lifestaff (main) + ice gauntlet (off) Off heal (spec: focus + str): life staff + hatchet Dps: melee (spec: str): great axt (aoe) + hatchet (single target) (S tier in pvp) melee (spec: dex): rapier (aoe) + bow (single target) ( S tier in pve) ranged (spec: dex): speer + musket or hatched (A tier pvp) Fire staff and ice gauntle are not really popular right and haven't played myself either. I think hatchet is the most well rounded weapon. Rapier and great axt have strong abilitys. Life staff is more fun than you think (beacon skill is great). Sword and board is more like sword and bored. It has low dmg, but it shines in dungeons.

Im going for Bow as main for sure. Not sur what to pair it with. currently undecided between rapier, hatchet or musket xD

I'd personally recommend the rapier out of the 3 you have listed. I used bow + hatchet in alpha, I tried rapier, haven't touched any magic or the musket so can't comment on that. But I've been running bow + spear, mainly PvP focused but its suitable for a general build as well, just switch some of the skills

I think they've done a good job with he ui doesn't seem like you'll need any addons! And my god I got abit obsessed with the beta this game honesty is so promising if they just add more into this then we honesty could be onto a big MMO Winner here!

I really really enjoyed frost gauntlet and fire staff !

If I buy skins for the game will they be taken away on release? Also will I keep my cash shop currency on release?

great axe is the meta with my friends after getting floored 1v3 while using rapiers

At launch, worrying about meta is counter productive, bc it's a guarantee that whatever is considered meta at first will be the very first thing that's nerfed. I tend to look at things that are just below meta and/or things that you think will be buffed (that's risky though)

You'll get a quest in the main story line that you have to be level 12 to complete, you'll meet up then

do all gear slots also add to weight? does the alt weapon count as weight?

Big axe and small axe boy lol, i love playing bruiser melle, and i fell like this combo is good to catch people. I wanna moar optimization options for better fps

game needs a parry system Also needs a timed block system so if I block with perfect timing I can open the enemy up. 2 handed weapons are a menace and without a parry or timed block system you just get pummeled.

did you read through the skill trees? there are parry skills. Besides that, there is dodging and shielding

I dont have a weapon combo I just use the spear I can just keep knoking them down then I put all my points in dexterity and health or whatever its called I love it because I dont like taking a bunch of damage but I want to do a bunch of damage

Great axe and Musket combo is top tier

I love using sword/shield and life staff. Kind of jack of all trades and master of none.

that's a paladin build, tank with self healing. a jack of all trades would be a bruiser build, can take abit of damage, can deal a good chunk of damage, has a bit of self sustain (not sure if lifesteal is implemented or not in the game) and/or cc to survive

basically the majority of ppl playing this game have never played a game in their life ò.ò "how do i find stuff?" -> open map "how do i join faction?" -> play the game ò.ò ... now, as i didn't play the beta or anything and just saw a gearing simulator, do the passives of the weapons stack or only the passive of the current weapon are active? also, is weight a problem for light wearer characters without any strenght? from that simulator that looked like a big problem but im not sure if i should trust it :D thanks~

I have to say the hemp and stuff does say where but its not tracked tell you harvest enough tell your about 30 cuz it took me 2 days to find it and then I couldn't even farm it cuz I didn't have the level Requirements

There's still a timer for when new ones come, if you want to stand in one spot for objectives play call of duty, you want to play an MMO that encourages exploration instead of farming? New world is your game
