Never thought I'd see anything in Oklahoma on a "Top 10" list. Also, as an Oklahoman, I would recommend going to the OKC National Memorial and Museum from the OKC bombing. He shows a picture, but doesn't mention stopping there. It is hands down one of the most moving memorials I've seen. It was designed by some of the same people who designed the 9/11 Memorial in NYC, which is also super amazing and moving.

Winslow AZ my son was literally standing on the corner. When a woman in a flat bed drove by! The truck was a Chevy, instead of a Ford but it still cool!

Being from Louisville, I picked up US 66 (by then multiplexed with I-44) in St. Louis and rode it all the way to Amarillo en route to Cannon AFB, Clovis, NM during my USAF days in the 1970's. There were still stretches of the 4-lane US 66 where I-40 had not yet been built. Pleasant memories...

Mark, Stroud, OK and the Rock Café is really great. The Rock Café is a place that one must eat at...great story! I about freaked out when I first arrived there, but you will really like the experience. It was also neat to check out the origin of the license plates on the cars in the parking lot...you'll be surprised.

If you like to do side trips, Chloride, AZ is a cool (still operational) mining town about 25 miles north of Kingman, AZ just off route 93. It's known for the painted rock murals just outside of town.

Good information here my man! My better half and I are researching Route 66 for a trip via motorcycle either in the fall of 2018 or the spring of 2019. You have given us specific locations to visit and maybe stop and play for awhile along the way. Thanks again for putting in the time to share our Americana History! Kudos!!!

There's a restored 1930s Conoco Tower gas station in Shamrock, Texas. It's east of Amarillo. If you saw the movie Cars, and remember that gas/service station in the movie. This is the real thing. Also between Shamrock and Amarillo is a virtually abandoned town called McLean.

Did the drive in 2007. Tucamcari. NM was nice. Had some famous motels and gas stations. Alot of the small towns are sad. Grants. NM had a main Street with a barber shop. loved Santa Fe. Across the river from St. Louis is East St.Louis. Illinois. Avoid that place like the plauge. Normal. illinois is a nice college town.
