He really was a bit special, wasn't he? The way he synchronised with the chord changes while playing some of the most outrageous phrases, etc. They say you never truly master the guitar but I think Jason really did.

Of course top 1 must be the magical Altitudes. So many emotions, it drives you to the deepest of your fantasy and mind. It whispers to you like a singer. The guitar in this song is the greatest thing I have ever heard. No way to describe it. It speaks to you and it melts down your heart.

+HarvesterOfSorrow01 Never really was impressed with any other shred thrash metal classical guitarist , this impresses me. The dude IS the Guitar. His finger fly. I can just picture him as a young teen , hanging out at home unplugged with his Carver just running the frets.. Mom saying " I'll buy you a guitar but you have to learn classical too , Jason" . Probably didn't happen that way , but that's how I picture this badass back , way back in the day.

The very best to ever pick up a guitar simple as that... at 15 16 17 years old he could play anything and composed masterful works before he hit 18 years of age... a prodigy I believe he'd be writing orchestral pieces if he had not taken ill...indeed he has with the use of his eyes ... I can't imagine what he could have done if he was able bodied with 30 years of guitar behind him... wow scary skills then 😳 untouchable ... his is the sadest story in music imho and the most inspiring at the same time... love you Jason Becker ..God bless you

@@punishr36 Guitar is fun and all but Becker is a whole different beast when it comes to composing music and orchestrating/arranging, especially in classical forms. His classical pieces would for sure surprise many great classical composers. And he is still doing it to this day (Triumphant Hearts, end of 2018). My personal favorite classical composition of his is 'Life and Death' m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/eImHj9WDfafPo9I.html but everything he composed on a classical side is at masterpiece level. And that's what separates him from the other players, he literally absorbed the influences of no less than 300 years of Western music that came before him.

I saw Jason and Marty in Oakland, and in San Francisco. Both shows were amazing, remember the name shrapnel records? Never hit mains stream then and I was and am so piss off he got sick. He was truly a one of a kind. Love Marty playing and Jason was so much more genuine genius, they would smile at each other like they too were in the company of the living God. God blessed us with you Jason Becker.!

I always get goosebumps when I hear him. There are few at that level. Alan Holdsworth, Shawn Lane, Uli Jon Roth; truly inspired musicans. Maybe he is the greatest at all; who knows?

You’re not wrong. To keep up with Gilbert is almost impossible. He was probably an even better sweeper.
