Marty Friedman-Jason Becker Black Cat Outro jam/Namida Tears/Blues

Ойын-сауық

This is superb guys. After first minutes of noodling they play (at 2:13) Black Cat Outro Jam/ Namida Tears and then they go into improvisation playing freely over a blues chord progression. Highlights are:
1) Jasons awesome technique
2)Martys awesome technique
3) Jasons "look" and "smile" every time Marty bends a beautiful note! Sign of recognition of the majesty in Maryts feel of melodies...
4) Intro from the song "Savage" unplugged at the beginning plus other little parts of songs.
My personal favourites are the parts when Jason rips then goes "ah..." when Marty enters the story. Like he knows he is a better guitarist than Marty but still cannot believe how the "teacher" finds these notes!!!

For me this separates the boys (simple shredders) from men (guitar Gods). In the massive intensity of music while shredding some play exercises and some play beautiful music. And that is what phrasing is all about......

u have to remember Marty was 5 years older then him, He also studied exotic music and theory a lot more, its undeniable if Jason didn't get ALS at 19 he would've became even more insane, he was 18 when he made altitudes he truly was a guitar god sent for only guitarists to know and be inspired by.

@@jyejye1077 I completely agree. Jason was more versatile and I do prefer his playing personally. He was so gifted. He was on his way to being one of the greatest that ever lived. Such a shame that we never got to see what could’ve become of his guitar playing. Awesome that he still makes music tho.

Both are amazing and unique guitarists but in this particular video, we see the CLEAR difference between jason and marty's playing. Of course jason has a lot more of technique than marty but marty has much more feel when he plays, his solos are like stories being told, and jason's solos are much more of a technique showdown, as you can see he relies on arpeggios and fast picking most of the time, while marty focus more on the storytelling of his solo. Marty comes up with exotic melodies that are simply astonishing! These two together are, of course, one of the best guitar duos in history!

Yes. I wholeheartedly agree with what you said. Marty's notes and also his tones sound like a story. If one has played electric guitar before, one should know it's not easy to pull that kind of half bends and vibrato. Having said that, they are the best combination of two guitarists like Yin and Yang. If two guitarists have the same styles, they would end up sounding similarly.

Marty Friedman is seven years older than Jason. It is very noticeable that Jason is still looking for his own language, and soon after he would record Perpetual Burn, which for me is one of the best electric guitar records in history. Both are amazing

I want to know the chord progression they jammed to at around the 2:14 mark. I also heard that was a common 'game' they would play with each other where one would play a chord progression while occasionally slipping odd chords to intentionally attempt to throw off the other player. I recall Jason stating that it was nearly impossible to throw Marty off because he would always manage to make any note harmoniously match any/every chord that was behind him, in spite of key! Not only does that express how badass Marty is, but man is that a fucking killer way to fortify your improv chops or what!?!?
