You forgot to pronounce the names of some of the characters correctly. Watching the show instead of just reading a script an intern wrote would have helped. Even Blackthorne's pronunciation of names would have been fine.

It’s actually not a joke. At least during Kamakura shogunate period they use to construct tea houses close to Buddhist temples to serve the pilgrims that had prayed and are on their return journey. The same thought goes for the church.

One of my favorite scenes isn’t here. There’s a very tense scene when Blackthorne is asked to surrender his guns and Fuji Sama breaks the standoff by asking Blackthorne to give the guns to her. When Hiroto asks her for the guns, she points the gun at him, basically telling him to fuck off. That’s some prime TV moment there. Fuji Sama was sweet but secretly a badass.

#1 is Mariko's assault on Osaka castle. And the fact we didn't even realize we were watching Crimson Skies, just makes it so much better. Sending in a lone woman to do a job an entire army couldn't, it doesn't get more epic than this.

That reveal was epic, blew my mind

In the official podcast of the TV show, Shogun is revealed that the bay in the scene of Fuji and Blackthorn scattering the ashes and dropping the cross ,is the same bay that James Clavell and his family lived, and that his ashes were scattered by his family on that very same bay after his death.

I feel Mariko's defiance in front of the Regents, attempted escape from Osaka Castle, and her seppuko scene should have all been lumped together into the number one spot.

The Best Shogun Moment was when Mariko showed up in front of Ishido, argued with him, and delivered a monologue about her bloodline and that no one could stop her from leaving the castle. That was memorable.

Torananga's genius was in manipulating perception and understanding the power of duty and loyalty over fear. He never told anyone what to do or laid out a plan. He put the pieces where they needed to be and let things happen organically so no one could question his honor. His enemies didn't understand that to be a true unopposed Shogun, it has to be given to you, not taken.

Marikos attempt to leave Osaka is one of the best scenes ever aired on tv. Especially with these moments of honor sprinkled in, as her last defender bows before her, apologizing to not have succeeded and accepting his fate. Also the honorable way how their enemies give him this last moment before they kill him. And then Mariko taking the Naginata … what an incredible scene…

Yes, this is #1, and what makes it even better is that we were watching Tokagaua's assault on Osaka castle - Crimson Skies - and didn't even realize it.

The drunken dinner between Blackthorn and Marikno’s husband as they chug saki…… The looks on Fuji’s face are amazing…..the acting as she is shocked and amused and horrified and delighted were classic and we watched it over and over again.

I sent a woman to do what an army could not. What a great play on word's. That line alone shows its class

I love every scene in this video, but the first scene to make me fall in love with the show was when Buntaro went down to one knee on the dock. The music and the bow, was amazing.

I love Lady Ochiba. She's beautiful yet horrifying. I just love the way she talks. It's just so classy.

Marikos speech in front of the leaders gave me chills. What a powerful performance!

The armored samurai who protected Mariko. The scene where he cut the enemy's finger and cut two samurai in an instant.

When Fuji raises Blackthornes guns to Omi and tells him to be on his way. Fuji was such a badass. I was hoping that she would opt to stay with Blackthorne. Also, Mariko telling Ishido to essentially shut up and quit being rude was a good one too.

This show was simply beautiful all around, true art!

Hate that my favorite moment of the series was left off. When Fuji takes the guns from Blackthorne but shoves it in Omi's face when he wouldn't let it go.

Toda Hirokatsu sacrifice is a must included, it show true loyalty and bravery, short scene but big emotion. So sad you didnt include it

#5 deserves to be higher. One of my favorites in the series.

Hiromatsu's sepuku to me was the ultimate moment.

Mariko speaking to the council should have been number 1.

I can't decide on the best. Every scene is memorable. The scene where Hiromatsu told Ishido that Toranaga had declined the position of Grand Elder and that there were only four Grand Elders The secret night that Mariko-sama greeted with John The scene where Hiromatsu commits seppuku, which was made possible by the tremendous trust between Toranaga and Hiromatsu over a long period of time. And the scene where Mariko-sama tried to escape from Osaka Castle without being intimidated by Ishidou. How cool was Mariko-sama when she fought with her naginata! Lastly, the scene when Yabushige asked about Kouten and Toranaga told him that it was already over. All these scenes are so good that I can't count them all.

I really liked the reveal that Toronagas brother had betrayed him. Also the tea house scene with mariko blackthorne and kiku

When Toranaga says he keeps the Anjin around because he makes him laugh. Epic

Yabushige attempting Seppuku rather than drowning was pretty compelling.

One scene I'm a little disappointed that it didn't make it on here was the shinobi attack. One of the best scenes of the show to me, especially since I consider myself a ninja fanatic!

One of my favorite scenes was when Mariko was negotiating with Gin for John to have an evening with Kiku. Fuji's reactions were everything. Not sure that Moeka Hoshi is getting her due for what she brought to Fuji. My eyes always went to her whenever she was in a scene.

Best moments are when Yabushige or best waifu Fuji are in it

When Fuji took over Blackthorn's guns. This scene is pure gold.

''Have a look at Osaka and tell me if you really think we are the hilt of civilization, and imagine what kind of man holds power in a land like this'' This scene also deserves it i think. It set up the tone really reeally well and changed Blackthorne's whole perspective in an instant.

The pillowing scene deserve a mention

"Please kill him." Mariko kicks butt and takes initials because she didn't have time to take names...

The show never really explored the Portuguese plot of dividing Japan and Toranaga’s reaction to it, i wonder if that further motivated him to elevate himself to Shogun so he can be the one to assure Japan’s survival.

What about the scene where Mariko verbally decimated Ishido about her stay in Osaka castle? The part where she fearlessly faced a group of armed guards while wielding a spear was a reason why I wanted to watch this show in the first place

The encounter of Lady Ochiba and Mariko is not to be missed especially when she turned her back with tears. It apparently showed she was less powerful than Mariko.

The author forgot the absolutely magnificent scene when Mariko demands the advice of the reagents to let her go from Osaka and her subsequent attempt to leave Osaka. It was also quite an intense and deep scene.

Hiromatsu's seppuku was the most tense and thrilling scene in this show.

When Blackthorn draw the map and expose global politics, i know it's a good show

I was excited when he gave the real story

the best scene to me is when Meriko is leaving the city. When she turns and tells her lead samurai. "He will not let us pass, please kill him" broooo that chilled me

I liked the two times Blackthorn saved Toranaga's life - first in Osaka, when he distracted the guards so the wouldn't discover Toranaga disguised as a woman - and when he dug Toranaga from the dirt after the earthquake an offered him the cursed swords. - I also liked the Anjin-Mariko love making after her disrupted seppuku... and the Anjin beating up his filthy Dutch shipmate and realizing that he is more Japanese than he thought.

The last episode got me in shock

There's no way Hiromatsu's seppuku not being the second. And the first one should be Mariko's "trialogue" with Ishido and Ochiba. Hiromatsu's seppuku acting (him and Toronaga) was AWESOME! Together with the later dialogue between Toronaga and Mariko... That should be second best moment of the show, losing only by Mariko's "trialogue".

Death of mariku and the end of episode 10 should be on top 3 at least.

Pretty much all of Mariko's scenes from Epi 9 could have been on this list. Her battle at the gates... can't believe that was left off. Nevertheless all of this makes sense. Now I want to watch the whole damn thing again! Not fair.

Fuji’s arc was the biggest improvement over the original series. Although when all is said and done, the original is still my favorite, they did a wonderful job making her a more fleshed out and important character.

What really caught my attention throughout the series was definitely Mariko and the Anjin's relationship embracing a strong connection with true love, despite her troubled past and loyal obligations. I could relate to Mariko sama's life and she's truly an inspirations to be strong and a fierce warrior. Honestly, Mariko doesn't deserve to commit seppuku, but Buntaro for being a total imbecile and abusing her lol

The seppuku method was incorrect though… the way Fuji threatened to do it when the camera to take her child was the way samurai women carried out seppuku (this was mentioned in the original novel)

The book is much better. Yabu is the only character that is done justice by the show. Although is actually much more conniving and evil in the book.

Am I the only one who's wondering what cross Blackthorne is holding as he's an old man lying in bed? He dropped Mariko's cross into the water along with the ashes. And it seems like the series ended rather abruptly, leaving a bunch of loose ends.

Definitely. He knew exactly what he needed to do for Crimson Sky to succeed. Toronaga is fighting back the urge to stop him but also knows he must go through with it “in defiance”. It’s all chess.

Top Spot should be the last meeting between Mariko and Ochiba where Ochiba talks of their childhood and friendship.
