I'd use the spen on the cover screen to take quick notes. It should have it.

A capacitance touch pen works. But unfortunately same as a finger

I have the case and it's alright, but coming from the Note series getting to the S Pen on this case is such a pain. Many people also complain that you can't use the S Pen on the cover screen and I agree. Particularly because the front screen is so narrow, having S Pen functionality there would really add utility.

Thanks for the review and your work & time. I bought the Fold last year in hopes the big screen would be pleasimg. It's not for me. I'm too rough and careless to use one on a day to day basis. Something to think about for whomay consider it.

So with that s pen, can you do air actions as well like take a photo with the phone like you can on the s23ultra? Or if not is there a s pen you can buy to use with the fold 5 that has that ability?

Think you can buy one with Bluetooth for Fold but not for Flop but $100 and its different in where on Fold you can write and it has bluetooth but if you want to bring with gotta shell out more money for pencase....also heard from one of the Sammy online mags that Flop4 and Fold 4 are coming with 6.0 in December but Flpp5 and Fold5 have to wait till ...don't know how true but something to consider

I use the s pen on my Fold 5 every day and haven't had an issue yet, even after a full year on the Fold 4 👍

Haha, I'm working on the big 5.1.1 update for older flips and folds right now since mine finally got the update. I'll have to wait until all the devices get One UI 6 before I film it so I can show you guys the before/after. But it is on my list for videos to make :)

I just bought fold 5 for using movies and series traveling. I use also 11 pro for the most things

I wanted this case. But i hate the hinge is exposed when the phone is open.. is there a difference with the spen on this case vs the fold 5 spen that u buy separate thats bigger??

I've been looking into the z fold 5 all last week and just placed an order for one, but updating from the last Note iteration, I am disappointed to hear the pen doesn't work on the outside screen :/ And disappointed none of the other review videos mentioned this >

Had a fold 4 for years and never had a need for a pen on my cell..we already have a keyboard that does this better than handwriting on a little screen,by kittle i mean the unfolded,yes i think its small for writing

I wish that front screen was wider and had s pen support

Spigen slim armor pro s pen case with hinge protection is better and costs less. Plus, the pen can be easily removed from the side, which is preferred if not in the actual phone.

I'm not sure why any of this requires the official Samsung s-pen case? I use the Spigen slim armour pro S-pen edition case. Not only does it have a place to hold the slim s-pen, it also has a hinge protector built in, something the official Samsung case does not. And as far as I can tell, the case does not impact the functionality of the s-pen. Some great tips in here, so thanks for them.

It doesn't but that spigen case is super bulky and ugly. The Samsung one is very minimal

I would 100% USE the Spen on the cover screen. That is one of the top reasons I returned the phone. It is much more useful on the exterior for quick note taking while out and about and I use it all the time. That’s one reason, although I could have probably gotten used to it. But the fact that it is a 2k phone , the highest end Samsung has to offer, and it’s sporting last year’s cameras. And I also had a tiny fear about the fact that the inner screen is not dust resistant and I frequent beaches so it made me a bit nervous. I’m hoping next one at least has an equally as good camera to the S ultra model of the year.

I still don't see the need for an Spen. You can simply hit the microphone and speak what you want to say without touching anything. I see very very few uses for a pen, but that's just me.

The pen is so loose. I lost mine 2 days after buying it. In the end i just lost hope. Havent seen people talked about how loose it is

Sorry to hear you lost the pen! Hopefully it turns up soon! I'm guessing you got a defective case or the pen was in sideways. The pen should snap firmly into place with the s pen button either facing directly away from the case or towards the case. If it doesn't, the case is defective and should be exchanged. I've had mine for a month now and it's impossible for me to get the pen out without using the ejection slider. I've even dropped the phone from waist height on a hard ground, and the pen still stayed in place.

Emmm... Nothing new for any Fold user. What exactly changes everything on the Galaxy Fold 5, just as the title states?

Thanks for the comment! Getting the S Pen changes everything with the Fold 5. Without it, you're missing out on a ton of functionality with the main screen. Other Fold devices have these features as well, but the features are demonstrated on the Fold 5. So the point was, if you bought a Fold 5, you'd still be missing out if you didn't also get an S Pen. 👍

I have the spen Pro and fold 4 s pens. Don't think I'll buy the fold 5 s pen as I don't like how thin it is. I prefer the fold 4 s pen. I wish you could write on the cover screen.

I own s23 ultra and z fold 5 and have had zero issues with the fold 5 and also have not wanted to use my s23 ultra at all since I've got the fold 5. Multi-tasking and media/social consumption is way more enjoyable on my fold 5. The only reason not to get a fold 5 is if you're someone who likes to pretend you're a photographer. I'm willing to bet, tho most people don't take anywhere enough pictures or make anywhere near enough edits to really make use of the difference in cameras. They just like to pretend they do like Apple clowns.

​@lockdown11b normal ppl couldn't tell the difference between the fold 5 and the s23 it drives me nuts people saying the cameras on the fold 5 are terrible. Out of the videos I have seen on KZread I could hardly tell the difference between the two.

Hating on fold 5 baffles me. It’s literally the epitome of mobile tech, currently. Maybe the form factor is not for everyone but if anything, it has too many features, lol. Lacking?😂😂😂
