While I appreciate the attempt to make fun of Biden in public again, I'm not sure what you're seeing as a direct connection between the movie and Biden though. I mean George Washington was a great "salesman" as were a lot of subsequent Presidents and Founding Fathers.

Just an fyi, one of those “wag the dog” military attacks of Clinton’s was against Bin Ladin after the Embassy bombing in Africa. Not a fan of Clinton as a person but just saying.

Where’s The Stand?

Here’s a movie plot that actually came true that’s not mentioned here. The China Syndrome, a movie about a nuclear power plant being in violation of government regulations which almost caused a nuclear disaster. It came out in theaters in March 1979, the same month that the Three Mile Island accident occurred in Pennsylvania. Fortunately there weren’t any fatalities, but it was essentially the beginning of the end for the nuclear energy industry. And if that wasn’t scary enough, there’s a scene in the movie where Michael Douglas’ character is consulting a nuclear physicist who explains what would happen if the nuclear reactor core had been exposed it would have rendered an area the size of Pennsylvania uninhabitable forever.

the cockatoos (idk if i spelled it right) probably came from the forest where the wildfires were uncontrollable in Australia... i feel bad for them not having a home...

Obviously Snakes on the Plane is the outrageous movie plots of all time and the saving grace was Samuel L. Jackson.

The guys building a floating house was not the movie plot, it was simply part of the movie. The plot was about his grief and going off to live alone. I doubt these gentlemen were going for the plot itself

There was and incident in Ireland where 2 men took a dead man to the post office to collect his pension/social security once caught the drop the body and ran

As much as I love the hell out of Shawshank Redemption and as open minded as i am it's real hard to believe that after all those years Andy wouldn't be switched to another cell and that no one would check behind the poster or catch him while he was digging but still it's one of the greatest movies of all time i remember watching it one time with my younger brother who was all like "i don't want to see this shit" but after about an hour into the movie he wouldn't shut the hell up about how much he loved the movie and my mom(i hope u resting peacefully mamá) loved the hell out of it and the ending especially made her smile

Unfortunately, scriptwriters are notorious for their lack of logic. It's not just in the movies, it's on TV too. Like, for example, in the "Batman" series from the 1960s, whenever Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson are called upon to hunt down the latest villain of the week, they slide down the Batpoles in their regular clothes -- and somehow end up in the Batcave in their "Batman" and "Robin" costumes! (I've often wondered about that a lot when I used to watch the show as a little boy) It was the same way with "Gilligan's Island," where the castaways were supposed to be sailing on the Minnow (their tiny boat) for "a three hour tour" (like it says in the show's theme song), and yet, when they're on the island, they suddenly have enough clothes for an entire month's vacation! The professor character always seems to have a complete encyclopedia that just appears out of nowhere. Why pack all these things for a three hour tour? Speaking of the professor, did anyone ever notice that he always seemed to know how to create things like cars, record players, electric lights, etc, out of items found on the island, except a way to fix the boat so he and the others could go home? Even authors of books and short stories sometimes come up with ideas that make no sense at all. People who saw "The Shawshank Redemption" might wonder where Andy put all the dirt from the tunnel he was digging all those years so he could escape from prison. Well, the same thing could be said about the Sherlock Holmes story "The Adventure Of The Red-Headed League," by Arthur Conan Doyle, in which two crooks trick a man into coming to the office of the so-called "Red-Headed League" every day to copy articles from an encyclopedia in order to get him away from his business while they dig a tunnel from the business to a vault in a bank across the street, because they intend to break into the vault and rob it. Through all those weeks of digging, where did they put all the dirt? It's said that Arthur Doyle became so obsessed with his literary detective that he would sometimes write about Holmes' latest adventures in the middle of social gatherings, where the noise of conversation would often be distracting and cause Doyle to make mistakes (like in one story where he said that Dr. Watson's war wound was in his arm, but it was in his leg in another tale), or write passages that were basically ridiculous. (in one tale, in going over some of Holmes' more recent cases, Watson, who was always the storys' narrator, makes a passing reference to "the arrest of Wilson, the notorious canary trainer"; WHAT'S NOTORIOUS ABOUT TRAINING CANARIES?)

Oh Weekend At Bernie's, loved that movie as a kid.

I remember back in the 1970s, there was a film called "Breakout" in which Charles Bronson uses a helicopter to rescue a friend of his from a Central American prison, where he had been sent to after being falsely convicted of murder. A few months after "Breakout" was released, someone tried to copy the movie's plot by forcing a helicopter pilot at knifepoint to fly him into a prison from which he planned to assist an inmate buddy of his to crash out of the place. I don't remember if he succeeded, though. The fact that the plot of a Charles Bronson movie was imitated in such a way became something of a sensational news story, and was even parodied in a comic strip (I don't recall the name of it) where a man says he has an idea about how he can help an acquaintance of his bust out of jail, and that he got the idea "from a Charles Bronson film." But, in the last panel, the man is not using a helicopter to get the other fellow out of jail. Instead, he's astride a horse who has a rope tied around him and the other end is tied to the outside bars of the jailhouse. In short, he plans to use the horse to pull the bars and the building's wall down so his pal can escape! Of course, it wasn't the same method used in "Breakout" (with a helicopter), but it did look like something out of a film with Charles Bronson, because he sometimes appeared in Western movies.

@@Kamakiri86 it did and it didn’t. The one Unstoppable is based on was I bit of a non event . Certainly not when compared to the 2013 incident. The Lac-Magantic tragedy makes “unstoppable” look like an episode of Thomas the Tank engine with a few grumbling trucks

@@99mrpogi Actually, back in the 1960s or '70s, there was a novel called "The Man," which was about a black man who becomes President of the United States. Exactly how, I'm not sure. I don't remember if he was elected, or he was a white President's Veep, and had to succeed him after he died, or if he was just appointed to the job because of unusual circumstances. There was a film version of "The Man" with James Earl Jones as the black President.

What about 'Orphan'? I recently heard about a real life incident which was exactly the film's premise.

That is true. Nobody could verify the actual age of the child and the adoptive parents said she was actually an adult. Last I heard the parents were in trouble because of it.
