Not on the high-school list! BUT, go check out my video on the top 10 Jr. Musicals, I think you'll find more of what you were expecting ;)
Well at least I guessed little mermaid right
My high school did SpongeBob. I’m still in middle school but I got to see my older sister in it, and they just looked like they were having so much fun.

@@CreativeCats-qy6yc My high school is doing SpongeBob (crossing my fingers for Karen), and the other highschool did Into the Wood.
My school is Doing Footloose At The Moment! Last year was a 70's musical (God spell) And I got an understudy part. I can't wait from experience!
The way my high school has done more of the shows on the middle school list (usually the full-length versions though) than the high school one... program's been running for 20 years and the only ones on this list they've done are Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast (meanwhile from the other list they've done Annie, Seussical, Willy Wonka, High School Musical, Frozen, Lion King...). I like a lot of the choices they've done but it sucks they don't seem to be allowed to do shows with much if any hint of "mature" content and in more recent years they've been going HARD on the Disney shows; I remember they were considering Legally Blonde for a couple years when I was there but probably weren't allowed to actually do it. :(
Can you do a video on beetlejuice jr when the script is released
I would love to know what shows would be best for college. I am a MFA directing grad looking for a musical for my CP. I am in need of something with a big name and big cast!
i was very shocked to find out addams family was number one. my school did that show this year and literally everyone i talked to said it was one of the worst musicals. there’s just no storyline and there’s only like three good songs

My personal opinion is that schools choose it because it's different. I think a lot of groups are tired of campy Disney musicals (no shade to campy Disney musicals - they definitely have their place in the world) and want to try something out of the box. I agree the storyline is really lacking in Addams though...
I love all your videos! I would love to perform any of these, even though they have been overdone

Thank you so much! "Overdone" or not, there are definitely some fun titles in here!
All these schools out here doing musicals people know exist, while mine did The Baker's Wife, a show that is so not known at least two people who i told about it thought i meant an Into The Woods spinoff

I’ve actually heard about that show. A lot of the songs are considered very good audition choices.
My school did newsies it desirves so much higher
Had a discussion with a fellow playwright. We did the "Boy Friend" back in my day but I feel that play doesn't do much for theater education. He disagreed because it was meant to be the antithesis of the Rodgers and Hammerstein style. But I feel that the glamorized period piece simply isn't relevant to today's teens. What's your opinion?

When the show is put into context, really delving into the nuisances of theatre and society at the time it was written/set in, I believe it could be a valuable piece to share with today’s students. I think a lot of the humor would be lost on them… that being said, we still teach Shakespeare and it’s something we also have to put into context and explain every single spoken word 🤷🏼♀️, so I see how an argument could be made for “The Boy Friend”. Interesting topic to explore, thanks for the comment!
I did encanto jr! I was mirabel! My cast was very small it was ages 6-12
