Star Wars definitely should’ve been on this list. The special effects developed by Lucas and ILM were pivotal to modern films. The movie also lifted spirits in the US after the end of Vietnam. The movie also brought variety to theaters where a good amount of films at the time were on anti-heroes who had a bleak view of the world, so the feel good space adventure brought variety to theaters. Star Wars also completely revolutionized the merchandise industry, especially with toys. Not to mention that Star Wars grew into a multi-billion dollar franchise and sparked the imagination of millions (if not, billions). The amount of spin-offs and fan films is insane and truly demonstrates what kind of impact this movie and franchise has left

I'd argue Star Wars did more to change cinema than the Avengers, whereas Jaws created the summer blockbuster, Star Wars kickstarted the spectacle driven film. Before A New Hope, the vast majority of top grossing films were dramas, thrillers, comedies and musicals, Star Wars shifted the focus away from grounded stories to more flamboyant, concept-driven ones.

Game of Thrones, as much as people may dislike the ending, it was highly influential and a phenomenon. Game of Thrones changed the landscape of creating cinematic television and helping the medium realise its true potential. After GOT the amount of higher budget, higher quality TV Shows that were created skyrocketed. TV became long form film-making, it also showed that adaptations worked better in TV rather than condensing them down into films, now we get many adaptations that are made into shows rather than films. This road led us down to the point where we now have shows with insane budgets that they might as well be 6, 8 or 10 hour long films due to how high quality they are. Older shows seem almost archaic by comparison now due to how they were originally structured and of course the limitations of their budgets. Shows like the Soprano's and Breaking Bad or Spartacus are exceptions since they were well directed and planned out for back then and despite the limitations, were infused with cinematic flair and they had stories they wanted to tell that you could see weren't just created week to week. Game of Thrones really did shape a landscape where TV could truly achieve it's potential and now that we're here, there's no going back, the way premium TV is now whether on streaming or on channels like HBO, FX, AMC or, hell, USA Network (shout out to Mr Robot, that show is the Evangelion of this era, phenomenal in every way and severely underrated, that is like a four season long, seamless film that absolutely was planned out from Day 1 until its finale, perfect) is just astonishing and will only be improved upon as the years go on.

Star Wars is considered to be a landmark in cinema, and it changed the way blockbusters were made. Bright visuals, flashy action, and less drama became a lot more popular when Star Wars was released. In addition, it was one of the very first science fiction block busters. Science fiction became more popular after Star Wars. It also had a big impact on movie art direction, special effects, practical effects, and sound design. Star Wars also started the “movie franchise” thing, as tie-ins with movies, shows, and comics were quite rare. Um... Ever hear of a little movie called "Psycho?" It changed the way audiences went to the movies, forever. Before Hitchcock's insitence that no one be admitted after the first 10 minutes, people would go into a movie any time they pleased, staying until next screening got them caught up. Afterwards, audiences made sure to arrive well before the movie started, in order to not have anything spoiled for them. I am really surprised it wasn't included in this list.

Wait, they DIDN'T include 1977's "Star Wars" in the list? I think they goofed. That movie was pivotal in a few different ways: 1) It crossed genres, seamlessly blending science fiction, fantasy and every day reality blending the fantastic (aliens, spaceships), with fantasy (knights, wizards, princesses) with the familiar (a ragtime band playing in a cantina). Before this movie came out, I can't think of a movie that came close to doing anything like it. 2) It demonstrated that intense special effects practically needed to be a mainstay. 3) If "Jaws" introduced the blockbuster, "Star Wars" mastered it and theater lines wrapped around the block. Staying on the Scifi mindset, I think there was another groundbreaker: "2001: A Space Odyssey" Science fiction movies had been around since the beginning of cinema, but it seems that just about all of the scifi movies before this movie could almost be considered to be aimed at younger generations. I consider "2001" to be the movie where scifi grew up.

Lucas, Spielberg and many more speak nothing but up most praises, how it changed them to what they are and most important movie ever.. C. Nolan and many others still uses effects that movie pioneered. Who knows how far back movies be today with it. Sad, It got snubbed. And yes it can be drawn out, to many boring, still doesn't change it's impact.. But that's Mojo, pick some movies that get them Thumbnails that get more views.

NYC and NJ were the home of early American film since it’s Edison in Menlo Park and his cameras and film stock that started it all. “Hollywood” only came about later on because the weather was more consistent year round and there was much more open space and land to build huge studio lots. There’s still vestiges of early NYC studios sprinkled around if you know where to look.
