@@mookelmiers1181 same miserable feeling from both endings for this Jags fan; the 98 team watched their first-half lead slip away to lose for the third time to the same damn team, and the 2017 team watched a big fourth-quarter lead slip away at the hands of Tom Brady and company. Both major Heartbreakers. Jaguars first AFC championship loss to the Patriots game ended in a similar fashion, after a Mark Brunell interception in the end zone. They also could have won that game. They could have won all three games if they had just managed the game a little better. In all three games, the Jags had the momentum at first, only to watch it slip away in the end. And God only knows how many more years its going to be before we even make the playoffs, much less the championship game. again. All we can do is pray. the 1985 AFC CS between the dolphins vs patriots deserves a spot. This was the closest Dan Marino came to playing in another super bowl, and everyone wanted to see the rematch from MNF of the bears vs dolphins. ap actually had 5 fumbles in that game....3 lost....1 of them was a certain 7 point swing. That loss wasn't on Favre it was coaching....plain and simple. We were in FG range....chilly takes a time out.....then sends 12 men out to the huddle....which puts us out of FG range....which BF has to try and get back. Sure he could have run/slid, but he's a QB, had he completed that he'd have been a "hero" for the great game he had. Instead he has 1 bad play and Vikings fans do what they do.....blame the loss on the last person to make a mistake. Coaching lost us that game. It also lost us the '98, 01, '15 & '17 playoff games.....but....it's easier for the kool-aid drinkers to have a single scape goat for each of those.

When I saw that Renfro TD which then became an incomplete pass, I was devastated. Not saying that the Oilers would have won that game. But if the game was tied, the end of the game may have been a bit different. The Oilers clawed and scratched their way to that game. It just seemed as if the wind came out of the sails of the Oilers after that play. But that controversial call paved the way for instant replay. The Steelers vs Oilers was an excellent rivalry. As a Vikings fan, I thought 2009 was worse than 1998. You'd need more than a 12 minute video to go over all the aggravating and unfortunate things about that game. It was so much more than just a missed kick in 1998, as crazy as it was for Anderson to miss given his record.

The 98 game was not just a missed kick though. Moss dropped a td in the first half, almost caught another td in OT, the Vikings fumbled before halftime which made it 20-14 instead of 20-7 at the half, and Robert Griffith dropped an INT in regulation that would have won the game. Dennis Green elected to run out the clock in regulation instead of going for the win, and John Randle got injured at the end of the game the week before and got hurt worse in the championship game. Also other defensive players got injured against Atlanta.

Packers vs. Seahawks, Burnett picks off Wilson with 5 minutes and lays down at the 40 yard line. He had a ton of running room, at least enough to put the offense in position to kick another field goal. Big mistake by him. The only time you do that is when there's 20-15 seconds left in the game or under 2 min. when the other team has no timeouts. Seattle had all 3 timeouts and a killer defense. The Packers were way too conservative down the stretch.

I was there for the Eagles-Bucs mess. Lifelong Eagles fan. The Eagles were supposed to walk over Tampa, many pointing to Tampa being 0 for forever in games with a Kickoff temp of 45 and under. Tampa blew that one up. Fans were talking Super Bowl all week before; “our year” and all that jazz. Nobody told the Bucs. 60,000+ fans party before the game. Brian Mitchell returns the kickoff deep, and Duce Staley scores. Eagles up 7-0 two minutes into the game. The crowd was so loud I thought the Vet was going to collapse like the walls of Jericho. The Eagles tried to sit on their 7-0 lead, but 58 minutes later, Tampa was going to the Super Bowl. The 60,000+ fans party became a Wake; quietest Eagles crowd ever. My wife and I drove in with two of our friends, having a grand old time. So quiet on the way home you’d think somebody died. It took 15 years to put that memory to bed.

#5 FTW. The most dramatic 4th Quarter ever for this NYG fan. I never tire of watching the highlights or the game in its entirety. But the Marshall hit on Montana was not as important as the fake punt called on the field by the Giants' Gary Reasons. Immortal in the hearts of Giants fans!

It was called because Frisco only had 10 men on the field. Heads up by Reasons to see the huge gap and to run right through it.

1998 for the Vikings then led to the 41-0 debacle to the Giants in 2000, two straight 10+ loss seasons in 2001 and 2002 and the Unmiracle in Arizona in 2003. The art of collapses in the NFL can also involve the Vikings. Just ask the Jets, who have perfected the art of collapses.

Don't forget the 2017 season when they went up against the Eagles, who lost their main QB, and while the beginning looked promising, they eventually choked. There is a reason why the Vikings wear purple.

Browns should have won at least one game... maybe another. Denver got blown out in all of those super bowls in spite of leading New York at halftime. Browns vs Washington.. or Browns vs Giants... or especially... Browns vs 49ers would have made for closer Super Bowls that what Denver did

As a Vikings fan since 1968, I "appreciate" you including 2 of our horrible memories, including your #1 ranking of what was the REAL FIRST Greatest Show on Turf, the 15-1 MISSING RING 1998 Vikings NFC Champ OT loss. Here's the problem. You've got the 2009 Vikings NFC Champ OT loss to the Saints only ranked 10th, when it really needs to be in the top 5 also. That game was won if the Vikes just run the ball and try a FG, no need to throw it. That's why it has to be ranked higher. But even more egregiously, you completely left off the EVEN WORSE 1975 NFC playoff loss to the Cowgirls on the infamous Hail Drew Pushoff Play, which turned a safe 14-10 Viking victory with seconds to go into a 17-14 L absolute nightmare. That game needs to be ranked in this list because: 1. It was probably the best of those 1969>1976 VIKINGS teams, considering that Tarkenton had an MVP season and Chuck Foreman also was an absolute stud both rushing and receiving in 1975. Set RB record for catches, 73, had 22 TDs. 2. Drew Pearson caught a key 4th down sideline pass that should have been waved off as OB. He failed to get both feet down, or any feet because Nate Wright hit him in the air and pushed him out. Terrible no call, game would have been over. 3. Everyone knows the infamous Hail Drew Pearson Pushoff Play. Terrible underthrown Staubach pass which is now considered "iconic" which is ridiculous. Nate Wright again in PERFECT position to intercept the underthrown pass, settling under it. Pearson was running too fast, about to overrun the ball, so he had to try to hold up, and PUSHED OFF WITH BOTH ARMS OUTSTRETCHED ON NATE WRIGHT. Replays from NFL Films clearly show the Pushoff. Wright did not just slip or fall down. He went down immediately after Pearson pushed Wright with both arms. Another inexcusable NO CALL on the Cowgirls, clearly OFF pass Interference. 4. The post Pushoff aftermath was an embarrassing and tragic mess, as a fan hit the ref in the head with a bottle. On top of that, it was later found that Fran Tarkenton's Dad had suffered a heart attack and died while watching the game on TV. It can't get any more brutal than that. Yes, I know, it wasn't the NFC Championship, but its a playoff loss that prevented a possible Super Bowl win finally. I rest my case.
