Another big time choke is in the AFC playoff game when the (then) Oilers were up 35-3 at halftime over the Bills and lost 41-38 in OT. Frank Reich was the qb for Buffalo

Yeah and Warren Moon was the QB for Houston, one of the top offenses in the NFL and he had 4 passing TD's at halftime. I'm a huge Bills fan and will never forget watching that game as a kid. It gave Reich the greatest comeback ever (at the time) in College and NFL history. Always felt like the Music City Miracle (when Houston team turned into Tennessee Titans) in '99 was pay-back for that game. Incredibly, that was the last Playoff game the Bills have played in (in 1999) and they now have the longest Playoff drought in the NFL since then.

Also, a little known fact: After that game, Frank Reich had the biggest comeback in college history in the Orange Bowl down 31-0 at halftime to Miami (which Marv Levy reminded Reich of at half-time when the Bills were down 35-3) and the NFL. Now that is incredible, to have the biggest comeback in college history and NFL and both in the biggest game of his career.

Every time I see Romo fumble that ball on the kick, one of the only plays that make him known as a choke artist, I wonder how differently everyone would've saw him if he got into the endzone

Yeah he really did come close to scoring. As I watched the play this time, I thought about what a tough tackle that is for Jordan Babineau who really hustled his butt off to come around and catch Romo from behind with a shoestring tackle right before Romo could reach the goal line. He should have been a hero for making that play.

13:05 that entire game was a choke. Favre two INTs. Adrian Peterson fumbled twice (luckily recovered by Viking). When Reggie Bush muffed a punt return and the Vikings take over with 5 yards to go for a TD, Favre and Peterson have a botched handoff. Berrian fumbled. Percy Harvin fumbled. 12 men on the huddle just before the Favre INT which put them out of FG range.

Giant's were leading 31-10 in the 4th with over 8 minutes left in the game and they allowed the Eagles to come all the way back with 12 seconds left and allowed DeSan Jackson a center line punt were he scored the winning touchdown. you're right. but I still wouldn't call it a choke. it was a high and contesting pass. even wide-receivers have trouble with passes like that. who ever was guarding Tyree is one who choked. how do you let someone catch a high and contesting pass with one hand and their helmet with full defensive coverage of them? that's the play that should have been in this video.

Super Bowl XLIX, Cris Collinsworth "borderline unstoppable in this part of the field", that was far from true. In 2014, Marshawn Lynch was 1 for 5 from the 1-yard line in terms of scoring touchdowns. The previous year, in the 2013 NFC Championship Game, that war the Seahawks had with the 49ers, Lynch was not only stopped from the 1-yard line, he fumbled. So, Lynch, to sum up, was anything but unstoppable from the 1. Also that year, that interception was THE ONLY pass that was intercepted the entire season when the line of scrimmage was the 1.

Seattle vs. Green Bay, Matthews coming down with an onside kick that bounced off Bostick ended with Wilson finally hitting Kearse for six (Green Bay picked off four of the other five attempts); a pass play lets Malcolm Butler pick off Wilson at the end of the Super Bowl, and a subsequent encroachment penalty on Michael Bennett gave New England room to burn the remaining seconds. New Orleans vs. Jacksonville, out-of-town scores did New Orleans in without the missed game-tying field goal. Buffalo vs. the Giants, Norwood missing wide right was the closest Buffalo came to winning the Super Bowl in four straight years of playing in it against NFC East teams.

Majority are kickers. Do me a favor.... Sit for 20-30 minutes straight. Then kick a ball 18 yards. That's the action you got and it's 1 point. Do this routine for 2 1/2 hours. Then, slam a Red Bull. SLAM IT!!! Feel you're heart racing? SLAM ANOTHER! That's simulating the pressure you'd be under as a kicker. Now get ready for the kick. It's 51 yards away and needs to be high enough and accurate enough to go thru a goal-post from that distance. Remember.... You mess this up, it could be your career too. Make it, you don't get recognition. Did you make it? Great! But the opposing coach called timeout to fuck with you. Now stand out there for another 30 seconds, then another 15 because the defense needs to "have time to prepare". Remember, don't screw this up! It's your career's death if you do. You'll be remember as "the guy that choked". That happens, the team WILL drop you. There's about 90 other kickers next season that all want to do what you're doing; and there's only 32 positions open. There's the whistle! NOW you can get ready to kick. Don't fuck this up. Better make this kick.... GO!

To be fair I've only been alive when we've been good so when we inevitably suck again I guess we'll see the true fans. I realize that it was just a regular season game and that the Cowboys eventually won that year's Super Bowl... not trying to take anything away from that. BUT! Speaking as a lifelong Eagles fan, I gotta say there's still a little bit of joy in (A) hearing "The Cowboys will win!" right before they lose, (B) seeing Aikman and Irvin celebrating but then going "wait WTF?", (C) seeing Jerrah go full triumph only to have it pulled away from him, and (D) the fact that it was Doug Pederson holding the snap. But all that aside, let's not be so hard on Mr. Lett. If I recall correctly, his 1993 team won the Bowl, and his fuckup in the previous Bowl didn't cost his team a ring either. I'll be the first to admit: when I find myself in situations of extreme pressure, I tend to bork everything up. Leon Lett is the talented but fragile antihero who -- on some level -- we all are; and we all aspire to be: those who must live down their colossal missteps, those who must mine the gems of fun and mockery from the dirt of their small history, those for whom the consequence of failure is the soft success that rises solely from the absence of failure, those who nevertheless persist as champions despite their brief and hilarious moments of abject incompetence. Humans. Take care, Leon. You are us and we are you. From one football fan to another.

8:06 - After the bad snap Giants ran a fire drill where they threw down the field to an offensive lineman (Rich Seubert, #69) who declared as an eligible receiver when checked in, which is why the announcers immediately called for Pass Interference on the 49ers as he was pulled down (you an see the guy who committed it lying on the ground because he knew he got caught). That would've been a spot foul, and the Giants would've had the ball at the 2 yard line for a 19-yard FG. However, the refs forgot Seubert declared as an eligible receiver and called Ineligible Man Downfield on Seubert. The announcers initially thought they were talking about another Giants player, which is why he said the penalties offset; that would've resulted in the Giants rekicking the 41-yarder. Instead, the penalty on the Giants ended the game and the refs blew the call. A day later the league sent an apology to the Giants, saying "sorry our BS call cost you a trip the the NFC Divisional Playoffs. DEUCES!!!"

You forgot the 2nd Miracle at the Meadowlands, when the punter should’ve kicked out of bounds, but kicked it to Deshaun Jackson. Tom Coughlin’s reaction was hilarious.

I’m glad the NFL got better at always showing the score and the time on screen. Had to rewind that first one.

I knew, before I even clicked on the vid, that my beloved Falcs would be number 1. It stings a bit to admit it but that was the biggest choke job in the history of sports.

They don't go much, so it's easier to choke in all 4 of your playoff appearances rather than being a franchise and going more often

Choking in the playoffs is a Minnesota Viking tradition! I believe each player has that specifically written in their contract...especially the NFC championship game!

The collision between Butler and the intended Seattle receiver could conceivably been called DPI; the zebra's wisely ruled [via the non-call] that both players were entitled to the ball and since Butler had taken a route directly to the ball's path that was the correct call.
