Sean Spicer's casting was just disgusting. It felt like the DWTS producers were intentionally shooting themselves in the foot and WANTING lower ratings. If that was the case, they definitely got what they wanted.

I think the issue is it’s easier to learn bathroom when you have 10plus years of dance experience. You understand the art. You understand it more than for example Iman. You think he had any dance knowledge? So even basic steps and learning how to move your feet and counting

@@mikayla5077 Actually as someone who was a contemporary dancer for 15 years before transitioning to ballroom I can tell you it is not always an advantage. In fact sometimes it can be a disadvantage. The styles are completely different. You actually have to relearn alot and overcorrect. The holds, feet, posture are all different. The partner work is also completely different. It is much easier to learn something from scratch then have to change everything you have already learned.

@@danirae3176 Thank you for this!! When I switched to ballroom, I was baffled by the fact that It was so much harder than I anticipated. My experience before was a huge disadvantage as my feet were ALWAYS doing the wrong thing since I wasnt used to that kind of stuff.

People were mad because she was already a professional dacer (and the production knew it) and then they ELIMINATED HER EVEN WITH HER DANCING BEING IMPECCABLE BECAUSE IF SHE WON IT WOULD BE UNFAIR!! I can't... She was robbed (and so was Evanna Lynch, but that's another topic)

People wants to watch a show where someone you thought was bad turns out to be good. If they know they are good, they feel there wont be any "surprise". They´re not really interested in the dancing number itself. There has been a number of people that might have been previously trained before but if the audience doesn´t know them for that, it doesn´t matter for them. It´s a weird perception thing. Like, "he´s not a dancer, he´s a singer, comedian, or actor but not dancer".

They pretty much brought up a girl who's a marvelous dancer and when the response was a negative one, they ELIMINATED her even if she was not the worse... Like... Why they even brought her in, to begin with!?!?!? Was a great "WTF moment" for me 😂

I agree. This woman just can't host at all. I remember how she hosted at America's Got Talent and she was a total mess, acting so cringe and even tried so hard to be the center of attention. I'm glad she got replaced by Terry Crews and he did way better.

i didn’t have a problem with Mackenzie Ziegler being on the show. she didn’t have expierence in ballroom/latin so i think it was fine. however, i just didn’t like the fact they never mentioned her dance expierence or dance moms while she was on the show EDIT: however i think we all can admit that Mackenzie was put on the show to boost ratings, since most people watching knew her from dance moms and therefore watched the show because they knew she would do good.

It doesn't matter if dancers have ballroom or latin backgrounds. They're still dancers and can adapt to different styles much better than non-dancers.

@@candycoatedoom it actually does matter, I’m a dancer myself and I can tell you it matters a lot. You can have a huge dance background and 0 ballroom experience, and not be great at all. Having dance background doesn’t really affect the contestant at all. Unless it was a ballroom background

It bothers me when people complain about “trained” dancers being allowed on the show. Unless I’m mistaken, the kinds of dance they are trained in are never ballroom styles. What’s more Rumer Willis has even stated that she had to unlearn everything she learned on the show when she trained for Broadway. As for Sean Spicer, I wasn’t overly impressed with him as a dancer or politician. I think there should be a rule against having politicians or people who use it to promote political agendas on the show.

You're right, they usually aren't specifically trained in ballroom styles, but being a trained dancer gives you a MASSIVE advantage over those who have no dance background. For example, most dancers, especially the ones who go on to be professionals, will start with ballet as that's what gives you the foundation for everything else, including ballroom. That's also why the gymnasts and figure skaters usually do really well. Also, one of the reasons I stopped watching the show was because they also gave those types of competitors to Derek or Mark, and it was pretty obvious from episode one who was going to win. Of course, it didn't always turn out that way - Heather Morris and Sabrina Brian being notable examples - but, for the most part, the people with a dance background usually do really well in the competition, and many of them win.

Exactly. Most of the stars who are dancers haven’t even taken a single ballroom class let alone trained in it.

Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat dolls should have at least been the top 2. Girl dances in all her videos and wins the show. But they were okay with Heather Morris getting eliminated. If Heather had been paired with Derek im sure she would have made if farther. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Blame maks my theory is that because he was injured and she danced with Allen longer as soon as maks tried to assert his authority and put himself back in as her partner the fans wouldn't have it

For those saying that figure skaters shouldn’t be included on DWTS, as a figure skater myself, skill at any level on the ice doesn’t exactly translate to the dance floor. Yes it may give you an advantage when it comes to rhythm, flexibility, and musicality, but that’s about it. And I think that Johnny Weir is proving that point pretty nicely, because he’s often referred to as one of the best of his time, and he’s been having his difficulties moving from the ice to the floor

Yes! An interesting thing that was noted during my time of training in ballet was that yes, the students who had skated (because there were in my class) had the advantage of flexibility and they could spot their turns, but on a dance floor with much more friction and leg movements, there were also drawbacks because turning on the floor requires a more precise point in your foot and complete control over your every part of your body to execute it to the right timing while remaining in balance and in proper position. Lines created with one's body while gliding on ice are not created the same way on the floor and I thought it was so fascinating because it didn't cross my mind when I watched figure skating, but there are some really neat parallels and contrasts to different dance forms!

I think if a person was a competition ballroom dancer, I might be inclined to cry foul, but really, I know some people are coming into it with more physical aptitude than others. it doesn't bother me. unless someone has two left feet and can't count to three or four (depending on the dance) and their fans still flood the show with enough votes to keep them there to the point Len feels the need to make a cutting remark about it.

So glad Carole Baskins was on this list. I was astounded that she was even on the show, (not the 1st time I have been in shock on people who were on DWTS). It was even more irritating that every single dance she performed was tiger themed. I mean come on we all get it. We know who you are, you don't have to continuously remind us every performance. I am shocked that she lasted past the 1st week. Thank you for compiling this video. I love the different topics you cover. Can't wait to see what new videos are to come. Have a great day.

Heather as like others people don't lie about the previous dance experience. But for example Nev since the beginning this season denied it, or just tell (in the first weeks) that was a kid previous dance experience. When people know that he studied ballet, art and photography some years ago(until he had issues and got off) And talk about his dance experience on the catfish documentary and they're videos of him dancing in small competitions or mini shows... Kaitlyn talk it on week 2 about her dance experience (even she had like 10 years to not practice) and people still mad about that. The same with jhonny, who had his dance experience (but as solo skater, not with a partner) and people get mad, when we had previous skaters on the shows and people don't said anything.....

Bobby's win solely came down to his final freestyle performance as you mentioned. The judges gave a perfect 30 for a routine that should've gotten a 21 at best, and then the judges had the audacity to be "shocked" when he won the mirrorball. The judges are to blame for ruining that season with consistently overscoring Bobby

Over scoring Bobby? Did you not see his scores throughout the season? They were so average the guy himself even said that 8s were his 10s he won because of his MASSIVE fan base that everyone on that season wishes they had he would've won even if his freestyle didn't get a perfect score

Quite a few professional dancers are on this show. I stopped watching dancing with the stars because it was a huge popularity contest instead of basing it on talent. The professional dancers were Zendaya, Sabrina Bryan, heather morris and more and honestly most of them don’t win which is a shame sometimes. Also their dance styles are different than ballroom so it does not mean they didn’t earn their place on the show.

God, I hated the season with Bobby Bones. I had literally never heard of him until that time, and I will never understand why he was so popular. Everything about him and that season of the show ticked me off to no end.

Andy D*ck was controversial also because he was indirectly responsible for the death of Phil Hartman (he's the one who got Phil's wife back on drugs), doesn't deny it, and has never shown any remorse for it. I had to turn my head every time he came on the screen.

I had a problem with Sean Spicer not because of politics but because he unfairly got votes. What I mean is he got on that republican news channel and told republicans to vote for him basically in order to stick it to the liberal media. He told people when and how to vote too, even those that didnt watch the show.

@@mortimerbrewster3671 I take it the people you know have never watched Glee, because that show was pretty popular during the first 3 or so seasons of its 6 season run, and everyone who's watched it would've known exactly who Heather Morris was...she was on the 50% of people that I knew exactly who they were when they announced that season's cast

Just a reminder: Bristol Palin made it all the way to the semi-finals after surviving elimination as the "bottom two" contestants against the singer-actress Brandi, who was by far a better dancer. The crowd (and even some of the show's pro dancers) audibly gasped when Brandi was eliminated that week instead of Bristol. Bristol wasn't as good a dancer as some of the celebrities voted off the show before she was, and people were clearly voting for her only because she was Sarah Palin's daughter, and not because of her dancing. I suspect that it was because of Bristol Palin's undeserved staying power that "Dancing with the Stars" started giving its dancing judges a greater say on who stayed and who was eliminated.

Heather was AMAZING

Well at least most of these performances don’t look too bad. I’ll give Sean this, he actually tried to compete for the fun of it and didn’t give up on his first week (cough cough, looking at you Scaramuchi Celebrity Big Brother 2). Had no idea Ryan Lotche was even on that show 😂. What’s the deal with Dance Moms? I heard people don’t like JoJo Siwa and other people from that show but was there like a ton of problems or something?

On Dance Moms, Kenzie trained in contemporary & jazz which she did on dwts. In general, people dislike the show for abusing children, sexualizing children and there's been accusations of racism. Jojo and her mom played Dance Moms very well with publicity for her brand.

Was I alone thinking Spicer would be number 1?

I'm surprised Ryan Lochte made this list. I never heard of him since that incident in Rio 2016.

My problem with Paula Deen went beyond the racial comments. They bothered me but the woman has a history of saying things that were controversial. She's said homophobic things in the past too and they paired her with the one gay male pro... it didn't really make any sense and since the pros have no say so in who their is I would be surprised if Louis was uncomfortable with it too.

I can't be the only one who immediately thinks "Al Capone's vault" when I see anything about Geraldo Rivera. It happens every time, withour fail. He did a great thing when he exposed the horrific conditions, neglect, and rampant abuse at Willowbrook, but after the vault fell flat in 1986 I'm not sure how he still had a career.

I don’t know…. I don’t mind trained dancers on the show. I just want to watch dancing. And see the cool outfits they come up with. Usually, I dislike dancing and find it cringe but this stuff, for the most part, is pretty cool.

It seems very selective. It’s like that with Strictly in the UK too. People pick and choose who to be annoyed with if they are trained. Even if their training has nothing to do with what they are dancing on the show

I agree that politicians shouldn't be on the show, but because in my opinion they aren't really stars now are they? When I think of a star I think Hollywood or Broadway not a politician. Heck even a singer is more a star then a politician but that again is just my opinion.

does anyone consider the social media/youtube stars going on the show as controversial? (bethany mota and alexis ren for example) cause i remember when bethany was announced, some people claimed she wasn’t a real “star” and therefore shouldn’t go on. however, i think it’s fine because in this day and age, social media is where modern celebrities come from. if you think about it, some youtubers and tik tok stars are bigger than current actors rn. (not for always the right reasons but you see what i mean)

I loved DWTS Jr. It was such a fun show.

I like Dancing with the Stars.But they have people every single season who have dance experience. I have just got used it. It doesn't seem to matter to the people who pick the contestants on the show. I remember when Bristol Palin was on DWTS. I thought the controversy surrounding her was stupid. She couldn't control who her parents are more than anyone else could.

People think that because you have experience in dance you can't fuck it up, also not all dancer have the same experience or the same skill, I mean not because you know ballet for example you'll know ballroom or all that

Same with Kaitlyn Bristowe. One of her first interviews she said how she had danced for 16 years, but was not good enough to be a professional dancer! Both her and Johnny have such an advantage.

they’ve put plenty of figure skaters before!! and statistically, johnny has done worse score wise than most of the previous figure skaters. (he’s still good though)

truly, the only ones with the advantage are the pros- they know the styles and generally how to avoid injury, which the celebs have only weeks to learn and get used to.

I'm surprised Mario Lopez wasn't on this list, because that's the first time I can recall where having a star with previous dance experience was a huge deal in the eyes of the viewers

it was a big controversy when chaz bono was on as well.

i do agree trained dancers, ice skaters, and gymnasts shouldnt be on the show. they are basically ringers.

@@cipherquest3024 jhonny always was a solo skater, never training with a partner and he had some retirement years of the competitions

i think people were also mad about kim k’s appearances on the show too. also when it came bobby... it’s not that fan alleged his bad sportsmanship... he literally said bad comments on his radio show calling evanna lynch “forgettable” which is why she would never have a chance of winning. he was just flat out rude. not only was sharna and america shocked but the other couples, judges and hosts were too. that season of dwts as well as some previous ones were so unjust they had to change the show bc people were complaining so so much

In the UK we have had a few politicians over the years. But only when they have not been in politics anymore. None of them have done well, but that is because they are not been good dancers. I don't think ours is as controversial as yours is. We just have the "Strictly Curse" when dancers get together with their celebrities.

Bobby Bones should have been #1 cause if DWTS goes he is to blame for it

I had mixed feelings about Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan being on the show thankfully in two different seasons--or I think there would have been a huge issue. Not that I think another clubbing would happen but the controversy would be overwhelming!! Then the ones that have had dancing experience should have not been allowed on. Jennifer Gray from Dirty Dancing...interesting.

Bobby should not have been on this list!!!!!!! He is amazing!!!!! I've met him twice and he is one of the nicest people I've ever met!!!!!!! He worked SO HARD when he was on the show, and he was the only person in the whole cast that I knew, and I'm SOOOOOOOO HAPPY that he won!!!!!!!! He deserves it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right? I was going to assume the first guy to be mentioned with Trump was just because he was a bad person, but then as the video went on it became clear that there was somebody with some strong bias helping write this list. Another I don't think should have made the list was Paula Deen. I mean for real, it's Paula Deen. It wasn't even really much of a controversial thing.
