Gumshoe Beaumont Gore Vidal (There is no e at the end of his name btw) was primarily known as a writer. Your homophobia is showing. And where did you hear that salacious drivel about a three way between Gore, Cavett, and J Edgar Hoover (of all people)? That sounds ridiculous, considering the fact that, I’m pretty certain, Vidal probably found Hoover to be politically repugnant.

Her ratings were in the toilet. And it wasn't due to this instance in particular, but rather, this behavior from her in general. Once she decided to use her microphone to politicize rather than entertain (a lot of dumb actors/actresses make this mistake) she began to alienate half her audience with her haughtiness. In the onset of her career, in the srandup biz, and even with a couple small movie roles that yielded, it was her cheery conversational wit that got her where she was... to be given her own talk show. But it was the bitchy arrogance that formed into which ended her success, because she didn't have enough charisma to offset it and hold her own despite her political babbling.

@Herman Greenfield I never repeated any of your bullshit; I spoke of reality. I'm not sure how old or young you are, but I watched her in real time through her whole career, and I remember quite well when she began shooting herself in the foot. If you disagree with what I say, then reference the points and tell me what you actually have to say on it. But if all you can do is snipe it vaguely from the side like that, then you've obviously got nothing.

It was wrong then. It's wrong now. The gun issue itself. Do you not see what's happening around us in other civilized countries? There rights are being stripped from them. Australia was literally locked down for 2 years. People are being fined and jailed in Europe and Canada over the words that they choose to use. Our constitutional rights are backed by the second amendment. China isn't willing to walk in and take what's there's because of the fact that over half of the country is armed and willing to kill. For all of the bad that does happen with guns in this country. The good will always outweigh that, and if you can't see that, it's working. Because you're safe and ignorant.

☢️ These youtube 'variety' channels are pretty much ALL the same. They traffic in superficiality. They also assume that their regular audience are too stupid to grasp the simplistic dynamics of these conversations. Therefore, Watch Mojo INSISTS on interrupting each & every segment to explain every minor detail. The worst of these channels are the ones that run unrelated, often irrelevant stock footage throughout the video, instead of using easily available footage that actually relates to the subject matter! ⁉️BTW: How many times do I have to click "NOT INTERESTED" before youtube's algorithm stops putting WM videos in my feed? Maybe if WM were critical of democrats, or they challenged Marxist dogma, or if they offended leftists by showing a picture of an American flag, then KZread would waste NO time in dumping their videos down the memory hole!

To be fair, look up her earlier srandup on Carson or Leno. She was quite funny on stage. And personably, she can be quick with banter, but this wasn't one of those cases. I'm guessing it was because she was distracted by having gotten caught not only recycling a joke to the SAME person on live TV, but also having the punchline blow up in her face. And if that wasn't enough, she was put on the spot where she was completely incapable of recalling the conversation. The triple-whammy obviously disoriented her on camera, and she couldn't recover it by pulling a joke out of it like she normally would. But to call this an awkward moment is a bit of an overstatement.

I remember the Tom Selleck and Rosie O’Donnell interview. Tom Selleck was blindsided by Rosie and he had every right to be upset. He was invited on to her show under false pretenses. As he said he was there to plug a new movie he was in. Then Rosie O’Donnell out of the blue went rogue and started grilling him over the NRA and gun control. And would not let up or shut up about it to be blunt. She was in the wrong. I applaud Tom so much for his patience and civility as well as composure. Anyone else would have went off on her or stormed out Tom Selleck was being classy and the bigger person

One of the most confrontational (in my opinion) moments on a talk show was Jacqueline Susan arguing with a book review critic live on the David Frost show. This aired years before audience members talked back to the panel of guests. No one knew at the time that this format would be common going forward on TV.
