Grimer and Muk are interestin'. Theyre part of a trio, together with Coughing and Wheesing, and the trash Pokémon, whatever their names are... They represent water polution, while the coughing line represents air polution and the 'trash' Pokémon represent land polution

Boring ones are just as bad as any overly designed ones. Gen 3 and 4 were perfect with designs, Sableye and Mawile especially. As cool as Ultra beasts are, I hope they tone future designs to be more... Pokemon. It's weird to put a Caterpie next to a Necrosma and call them both Pokemon.

I get what you're saying, but the whole point of Ultra Beasts from a design standpoint was that they were supposed to look strange and different, They were supposed to be designs that a normal Pokemon would never have, like Nihilego being a Glass Jellyfish, or Buzzwole being a big, Buff Mosquito. They were supposed to stand out and look different from all of the normal pokemon.

They really missed a good opportunity for Voltorb to be a 3 stage evolution Pokémon with the middle stage being a great ball and the final evolution being an ultra ball.

How to fix the electrode line: Give it a ghost type evolution. Base it off of a malfunctioning pole ball, and make it open with the red beam we see in the anime, and make it vaguely ressemble some Pokémon.

Electrode probably isn't based on great ball because you can find items and such only in the form of poké ball and Voltorb and Electrode are basically traps/mimics so they should look like those poké balls you find items in.

Voltorb and Electrode are actually very well designed Pokemon. One of the most common and staple enemies in RPGs are _Mimics_. What is a Mimic? A Mimic is a monster that resembles a treasure chest to trap and ambush adventurers that come up to it thinking it is filled with loot. What do "treasure chests" in Pokemon look like? They are *Pokeballs*. Also Voltorb and Electrode move and stat wise are perfect traps, incredibly fast to move first, being able to paralyze and as many a grieving nuzlocker will tell you *they blow up in your face, often taking your Pokemon with it*. These Pokemon might look lazy, but in reality they are some of the most well thought out Pokemon from Gen 1.

Karmonit 0 Gen 5 is awesome. but gen 4 is my personal favorite. diamond was my first pokemon game, dialga is my favorite legendary, and empoleon is my favorite pokemon ever

Basculin is one of my favorite pokemon. Mainly due to my nostalgia to it and it was my very first shiny. So I see what you mean by its boring but I can't help but to love it 😂

I love herdier’s design. The - Literally while I was typing this comment, I saw the picture of the Yorkshire terrier and kinda changed my mind. (I always thought the fur on its face looked like a star and a mustache combined, and I do enjoy that.)

The thing is, with some of these, I have emotional attachment to them, because they were on my team at some point, or still are

5:40 is now the reason I will always remember herdier, as it is the day I heard the most glorious butchering of an attempt to pronounce my home county. thank you sir.

To help the voltorb line, make electrode an great ball, add a new 3rd evolution, and make that an ultra ball, then give he third one a mega, which is a master ball

Or give Electrode a bunch of extra forms based on what Pokeball it was holding when it evolved, with the Great and Ultra forms having higher stats, and the special ball forms (Premier, Dusk, Repeat, Timer, Quick, etc.) having a change related to the respective ball, including but not limited to: stat changes, new abilities, different typings, different movepools, etc.

But that wouldn't actually make sense because Voltorb is based off an item ball not a Pokeball because it's the equivalent of a chest mimic in a standard RPG and the only colors of Item Balls are Red and now Yellow.

Love the tone while introducing the first place lolz.

I've never really liked litten's evolution line. Also, voltorb and electrode are actually based off of magnetic balls that look exactly the same. They are spheres that, like magnets, have red on one side and white on the other as reverse polarity. I couldn't find a picture of one online, but I've had one of these before, or at least used one of these before in school.

It literally is tho. But then again, the gen 1 japanese names are pretty unimaginative. Freezer, Thunder and Fire is what they call the legendary birds. That's how far it goes.

Never seen a real life crab that looks like Krabby. Granted, I don' go traipsing through the ocean on a daily basis, but real crabs is scary buggers. All spikey an' googly-like!

More of a pokeball, I think of Voltorb and Electrode as magnet-like bombs. And i like that they are used as chest traps like Foongus

Alex: if I saw grimer for the first time, and was told it had an evolution, I would probably be intrigued what they could come up with Maybe the evolution will have some sort of radiation effect... Maybe itll grow legs... Maybe it will have more *colour* Gamefreak: more colour? Will do.

Adding comments onto this list 5 and 1/2 years later. Bascluin: became a hell of a lot more interesting in Legends Arceus with the introduction of Basculegion. Voltorb/Electrode: Hisuian forms! That definitely gave these guys a bit of a refresh in my book. Grimer/Muk: Alolan forms. T'was a while ago but still spiced things up a bit, hm? aaand that's kinda it. basculin has the best case imo
