The California Raisins were for 8 years from 1986-1984? Wow I didn’t know you could go back in time like that. They did misspeak & mean 1994 I believe but that’s hard to miss!

The Land o' Lakes one is the perfect example of how cancel culture is fronted by the wrong people. 'Indigenous people thought it was positive representation but other people said it was bad so it had to go.'

A mascot that had a brief run and stirred up a lot of controversy was McDonald’s Mac Tonight. Mac had a literal moon face (his head was a crescent moon) wore sunglasses, and sat at a piano belting out a jingle to the tune of Mack the Knife. Criticism came from multiple directions. Some thought Mac was an unkind parody of Ray Charles and Dodd Darrin, Bobby’s son, objected to the song, saying it was ripping off his father’s performance of Mack the Knife. In the end, the controversy proved to be too much, and the campaign was dropped.

Theres actually a story there. A guy whose name was Kenneth Lamar Noid saw the commercials and believed that Dominos was spying on him. So he called in an order for carry out and held the store hostage for an hour, then let the employees go and finished the pizza he ordered before he turned himself in. Dominos discontinued the Noid after the incident to avoid controversy. They only recently brought it back as Kenneth has since passed away.

The California Raisins even had a Christmas Special of sorts with one of the best renditions of We Three Kings of Orient Are.

The taco Bell chihuahua was always one of my favorites, it helped that she was adorable 😂

I Hope 7UP Will bring back the old mascot’s. I remember in the summer some years ago they brought back Fido Dido (another mascot) and put him on the 7up cans for a short time. Maybe next time they bring cool spot and Fido dido together and put them on their drink package designs.

Joe Camel was the coolest, he appeared everywhere: billboards, gas station and convenience store windows, magazines, matchbooks, drinking glasses, ash trays, music tapes, clothes, etc.

I'm surprised Chef Wendell didn't show up on this list. For those who don't know, he was the mascot for Cinnamon Toast Crunch since the 50s, and yet, despite how he was still present in Cinnamon Toast Crunch boxes in the 90s and 00s, he never appeared in commercials, compared to Lucky, Sonny, and The Trix Bunny. There was even a commercial when they promoted "healthier" versions of the four cereals where the aforementioned three were shown together with a kid, but Wendell never showed up. Later on, I guess General Mills knew nobody cared for him and he got phased out

I have the California Raisins figures from a very long time ago. They were my grandmother's.

I'm familiar with Joe Camel, The California Raisins, Tropicana, Mia, Uncle Ben, a caveman, and Aunt Jemima. I've seen one caveman in Geico commercials and a lunch box of The California Raisins. The California Raisins were on one episode of "The Simpsons"! I had no idea that these mascots don't exist anymore, including the others on this list. And a talking dog? Cool! The other dog in the video reminded me of the dog with a target around his or her eye. I also had no idea that the cavemen had a show of their own. By the way, Happy Easter everyone!🐰

And so much more! They were the start of human productive endeavor after all.

Another long gone mascot. The Budweiser Bull Frogs. Another one. The Fruit Of The Loom Guys.

I remember many of these. The ones I miss are the California Raisins (I loved the characters despite not liking raisins as food) Mia, Uncle Ben, Aunt Jemima, and, most of all, the Taco Bell Chihuahua, which was at its peak of popularity when I was in my teens.

I was not offended by the Frito Bandito! I vote to bring him back!

The Taco Bell dog was not offensive to Hispanics, in fact most of us was happy with the dog. Even a Mexican comedian mentioned it in his act about having the dog representing us.

Last I seen about the taco Bell chihuahua. It was said that someone (maybe more) claimed that T.B took their idea and sued when they didn't get paid.

I miss the guy who said, “Would you please pass the jelly?" Of course, he's probably dead now.

I miss Joe Camel and Spuds McKenzie - those ads were great. I remember the California Raisins were so popular you could buy their "signature glasses" at Hardees with the purchase of your meal. Back then you could also buy commemorative plastic "glasses" at McDonald's, BK, and Arby's for whatever stupid promo they were pushing at the time. My family had a cabinet full of them as did many others I knew.

The mascot I want to come back is Aunt Jemima. Which, in fact, has nothing to do with racism!

I want uncle Ben and aunt Jemima to come back. Also Mia for land of lakes, Cleveland Indians and the Washington redskins too. Damn cancel culture gone and ruined everything.

Name the "The Rednecks". How about the "Pale Pastries"? Better yet, "The Corny Caucasians"? Would that help you feel better? Cranky Crackers? The Incestors? Kissin' Kousins? I'm surprised you didn't bring up Erin Esurance, the the cartoon spy girl mascot for the Esurance insurance company in the mid-2000s. The biggest reason Esurance no longer used her was due to the pornographic fan art that was found on the internet. In fact, it got so bad that if someone were to look up Esurance online, the first thing people would see would be the pornographic fan art.

I'mma just be blunt, A LOT of changes to mascots are just...well they are just purely idiotic. Now the ones done due to financial reasons or just wanting to shake things up are fine, but changing them because of like 1% people not liking it is just purely idiotic and should NEVER be a reason for change

The truth is not many at all are offended by any of it. It's a very small group of ppl on Twitter at the time. Noone has thin skin as they make it out to be. Speedy Gonzalez was and still is a part of my childhood. Always will be. Yosemite Sam and all of them.
