Gloves of the forge Rare, attunement A pair of gloves that gives the wearer Fire resistance. Critical hits on a 19 or 20 but only for bludgeoning weapons. Proficiency with Smith tools. How's that for a butcher's bib equivalent
Ring of free action is also a great item to give BBEGs. It confuses the party greatly when their "old reliable" spell to slow and/or immobilize enemies fails them. 😈

I had an encounter with an evil sorcerer who was experimenting on how to become a dragon. The actual fight was against a SUPER squishy sorc who when “defeated” transcended into a zombified blue dragon with rings on his casting hand. Ring of free action, ring of spell storing, and a ring of invisibility. That was a very fun encounter for both DM and players alike lol. TLDR: Using a BBEG with ring of free action is in fact extremely entertaining.
Dang, I was sleeping on some of these items and I call myself a barbarian. One of my favorite 5e series, cheers.
About the Bludgeoning and Piercing versions of the Buther's Bib, I would go with the Forger's Apron for bludgeoning which is perpetually warm to the touch and the Miner's Apron for piercing which is always covered in stone dust.
I'm playing a fighter in a campaign that has gone on for three years now. We started at level one and are now level 19. We are planning on taking it to epic! Our party just found a belt of stone giant strength. Everyone assumed I would take it, but I handed it off to our cleric. I already had a strength of 20 and the belt would have increased my to hit and damage by only one. Meanwhile our cleric was wearing a suit of +1 plate that also boosted his strength to 19. By wearing the belt, he gained a +2 to hit and damage and also freed himself to equip a +3 suit of plate we were able to procure. (I need my cleric to be able to hold the front sometimes while I rush in to kill a caster or the like. I want his AC high!) I did not feel slighted. My Mountain Dwarf Fighter in the same loot haul found the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords. (Major Chaos Demon) The amount of damage I can do now is truly obscene. I mean it was obscene before, but now!!!
I would say a Butcher's Bib for bludgeoning would be called either a Mason's/Forger's Apron.

Make it Mad Mason's Apron, since there's blood on it at all times

And for piercing damage it could be a Fisherman's coat. Maybe for this one you always smell a little bit like fish? That'd be a funny substitution for the perpetual blood

I would say blacksmiths Bib and it smells like fire or hot coals. the fisherman's vest for piercing and it smells of seawater or seaweed.
I gave the Butcher's Bib to the Echo Knight who had already taken the Slasher feat and Great Weapon fighting Style. They had never heard of it and didn't see it coming. They where very excited to receive it and it fits great with their build. Perfect magic item for them.
Personal favorite item for me has to be the eagle whistle, especially for barbarians. Non attunement, doubled movement speed flight that you can activate as an item interaction and that leaves your hands free is really good. And since its is duration is based on constitution which barbarians should have as one of their higher stats there is less concern for it running out of time. Not to mention it's just hilarious imagining a massive muscle man zipping around like superman, face red as they madly blow into a whistle.
My Storm Herald made heavy use of Winged Sandals and played very well like a Jump Pack space marine from 40k. Being able to close the gap with almost any enemy regardless of terrain quickly make you a focal point of any encounter as the DM has to deal with you and your party members can take advantage of your meatshield status.
currently playing a Barbarian/Fighter that I built as a grappler. Steintenner has both the Eldritch Claw Tattoo and the Bracers of Defense. I also managed to find an Insignia of Claws. Being able to ignore an enemy's AC is a beautiful thing.
Thank you this will be very helpful!
For the bludgeoning version of the Butcher's Bib, you could call it "Mauler's Gauntlets" or something similar make it work like the Claws of the Umber Hulk (giving you a d8 weapon in addition to the reroll/crit properties). You could also give the gauntlets the heavy property if you wanted to let unarmed barbarians really shine.
Whoa, this just appeared! You're livestreaming the end of Dragons of Stormwreck Isle right now!
Great video. I have watched it many times
With having a bugbear barbarian, who has an extra 5’ reach, would the tattoo that adds 15’ reach then remain 15’ or 20’?

Black Tentacles, Entangle, Telekinesis, Earthen Grasp, and some Graviturge spells apply restrained condition.
Awesome, curious to see what would work best for a Raging Monster
Butcher's bib is favorite item in the game ever since it came out.
Wrt the Watchful Helm and more helmets, i homebrewed a load of different Menpo's for my players, and they work great. They can be basic and plain, or have elaborate animals or demons visages.
For the bludgeoning equivalent to Butcher's Apron, how about Gallager's Poncho?
Animated shield could be better then braces of defense simply, because that gives you 2 slots for other magic items. Some other bracers and armor.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
I’m surprised blood fury tattoo didn’t make an appearance. Great list though, butchers bib is something I need to keep my eye out for
For piercing damage it could be a Fisherman's coat. Maybe for this one you always smell a little bit like fish? That'd be a funny substitution for the perpetual blood
Intangle, web, sleet storm, black tentacles, slow, hold person, plant growth, spike growth, mold Earth, grease, ice storm, bade barrier, maelstrom are just a few spells that cause difficult terrain
Butcher's Bibs: slashing, Marinator's Bibs: piercing, Tenderizor's Bibs: crushing
Belt of strength is what I'm next week during game play
Oh, just missed out, my AL group just cashed in downtime and gp for the final dungeon. I kinda spaced on upgrades for my Barb, and just got barding for a party Sidekick instead.
@kylethomas9130

Ps: RAW barding for endgame prices was more expensive, so I went with a rare quality Barrier Tattoo.
I wish Freedom of Movement also prevented the Stunned condition.
Would the Butchers Bib work with natural slashing weapons like claws?
"FRESH MEAT!" -The Butcher
My Barbs going to be STR 24 DEX 20 CON 24 at level 20 so bracers of defense is just icing on the cake.

The barbarian in my campaign, rolled 3 16s on stats and currently at level 12 had 19STR DEX20 CON22. He has the manual of bodily health, and bracers of defense. So dudes got a 24AC and 187 hit points already.
I would love to see a video on magic items for all spellcasters

@@NerdImmersion I mean at the end that way you don't need to cover certain magic items every time and can still cover them. Absolutely do class by Class I would just like to see one at the end.
I want to do like a Jaugernat character with the belt of fire giant strength!
I was thinking that the replacement for Butcher's Bib could be called Stonebreaker's Chains: These rusted chains can be worn on your wrists or ankles, with broken links hanging loose and clinking with your movements. Wearer's skin is constantly albeit harmlessly bleeding from the point where the chains are attached. Gives it a kind of escaped prisoner vibe and could work for both piercing and bludgeoning damage. It could also have some other additional bonus and disadvantage on stealth to balance it out. Maybe increasing the rarity to very rare.
@tristinanderson6320
Жыл бұрын
Why would you add disadvantage on stealth? It's already not a busted item and that would just make it not worth it.
@backonlazer791
Жыл бұрын
@@tristinanderson6320 I did say that if you add another bonus on top it could balance it out, not that you have to do that. You could also remove them when you need to be stealthy and put them on when expecting combat. It's not like it's heavy armor that takes 10 minutes to don. This also won't be a problem to someone who's already wearing armor with stealth disadvantage.
@tristinanderson6320

@@backonlazer791 I'm pretty sure it requires attunement so you'd need a short rest to put it back on.
@backonlazer791

@@tristinanderson6320 You can wear a magic item and not be attuned to it, you can also take off a magic item without losing attunement to it. Most magic items just won't confer any benefits if you're not wearing them. Here are a couple of excerpts from the basic rules regarding magic items: "Using a magic item's properties might mean wearing or wielding it. A magic item meant to be worn must be donned in the intended fashion: boots go on the feet, gloves on the hands, hats and helmets on the head, and rings on the finger. Magic armor must be donned, a shield strapped to the arm, a cloak fastened about the shoulders. A weapon must be held." "A creature's attunement to an item ends if the creature no longer satisfies the prerequisites for attunement, if the item has been more than 100 feet away for at least 24 hours, if the creature dies, or if another creature attunes to the item. A creature can also voluntarily end attunement by spending another short rest focused on the item, unless the item is cursed." Nothing says that you have to end the attunement in order to remove magic items from your person. However, some magic items can't be removed, at least not willingly, but those kinds of exceptions are mentioned in the item description.
@backonlazer791

They also won't apply their negative effects if you're not wielding them, unless they are cursed.
There is a hard limit of 20 common rarity magical tattoos. every magic tattoo in tcoe has a table indicating the size and location of them. Basically 4 on each limb (arms and legs) and one on each hand and foot.

Great video! I have at least two items on this list that I want for my Dragonborn barbarian, but I don't think my DM will let me use them. He thinks I'm already overpowered in our campaign. How do you know if you're too OP? How do you talk to your DM about it when you don't see eye to eye on the game?

Blacksmits Bibb, fletcher bibb

I don't understand why the belts and other similar magic items doesn't just do "It increases your strength by 2 to a maximum of 22", etc. Here, your ASI seems pointless and redondant or another PC becomes as strong as you while doing nothing for it.
@ElJefeRules

I never liked those items because it feels like all the points you put into strength went to waste. I like the ones that set a stat to 19 a bit more because it’s more like a crutch while still not being as good as actually having it at 20.
conan wore armor
Butcher's Bib for bludgeoning? I see it as a Batter's helmet. Hmm, Battery Helm as in Assault and Battery? Or gloves could work too, Gloves of Battery. Would work for monks, too
I hate butchers bib with a passion because it's so powerful but so bloody disgusting. Like, unless your character is a maniac, you'd be harming the believability of your game wearing it.
Ted,please do other classes for items please sir....Thank you.
Im disappointed the Blood Fury tattoo didnt even get a mention here. Its the Crystal sword on freaking STEROIDS. Out of ALL items i could pick for a Barb, even a Belt of Storm Giant strength, i would absolutely take the Blood Fury Tattoo first and foremost. 10 charges of dealing 4d6 necrotic, and healing for that total? hells yes! Meanwhile id be happy taking a Fire Giant Belt and just lose out on the +2 in exchange for it.

Really dont like when wildemount (third party, setting specific homebrew) is tiered next to other items from the standard books without explaining the difference. Wildemount is setting specific partner content at best. Never allowed in adventurers league. Will never exist in a wizards book. Never been through unearthed arcana. Banned on most tables.

It's a wizards book. It is official 5e content produced by wizards. It's no different than the Acq Inc book or the Magic the Gathering books
Yeah you are! You are a lesser barbarian if you were half plate. Here comes Conan the Barbarian! And suddently he comes running around the corner clunk clank clunk wearing half plate armour. It would look ridiculous. If I wanted to play an armour bearer I would have chosen a Fighter or Paladin. Isn't there any magical hide/Leather or mail armor that a Barbarian could wear? And ofc a round shield but that goes without saying. My Barbarian wouldnt want to be found death in something as half plate. Thats only for the weaker melee fighters. Also his god might probably find it a weak gesture wearing armour so there is chance he wouldnt let him into Vahalla when he dies wearing something as half plate. Those Bracers of defense look totaly okay.
