Dickerson had 6968 yards rushing between 1983-86. That's just under 1800 yards/season. He also added 874 yards receiving. He scored 57 TDs in 4 seasons. I remember the trade as being HUGE. Walker's trade eclipsed it, however.
Never realized the Browns used the pick from the Richardson trade turned into Manziel. As they said, lose lose trade 😂
They forgot to mention about Marshawn Lynch being caught with a hand gun in his gym bag while at Buffalo, it was one of the reason's Buffalo let him go. As a Bills fan at the time, I agreed with it, but it turned out good for the Hawks because he didn't get to any more trouble but it was an issue at the time.
Not only did they create a dynasty with Herschel Walker, but the Cowboys got him back in the late 90’s as a kick returner
The Carson Palmer trade to Oakland wasn’t the worst trade at the the time. The Raiders were improving d every week and then Campbell went down and they needed a QB and Palmer seemed like a pretty good option at the time.

Easy to say Moss was a mistake now. At the time it really wasn't. It's easy to the future after it happens. NFL history is full of "ifs" for every team. Trouble is we all know you can't tell the future. If you could then no team would ever lose. Kind of hard to do:)
Seeing Marshal Faulk as a sports analyst tells me how old some of these trades were.
My opinion, the Cowboys getting a first round pick for Amari Cooper in 2018 was a big trade because it turned Dallas' season around, from 3-5 to finish 10-6 and in the playoffs.
This list will have to be updated in the next year or two to include the Cowboys’ trade for Amari Cooper. 😁

In Walker's first full season in Minnesota (1990), he led the NFL in all-purpose yards. 2051. He also had 9 TDs. In 1991, he dipped to 1112 a-p/yds. But he had 10 TDs. This notion that he was a complete failure in MN is a bit overstated. He was a disappointment to be sure because Minnesota didn't win with him in 1990 or 91 (14-18). However, Walker's career has been undermined by the perception that he was a 100% bust in Minnesota. That is not true.
When Lynch left Seattle, it was clear Russell Wilson needed Lynch a lot more than Lynch needed Wilson. Lynch made Wilson look great. Wilson is just good.

Why did the Vikings shun Herschel Walker after they traded for him? He was that last piece of the puzzle that should have them the Super Bowl that year? But, after they traded for him, they kept giving the ball more to Fenney than Walker. How much is Walker going to do with a mere 3 to 7 carries a game? Walker was an unstoppable force who was only stopped by the suicidal coaching decisions to not utilize the most explosive running back in the league at that time.

Getting rid of him and getting anything for him seemed like a blessing, at the time. Bills fans were still absolutely gutted we picked CJ Spiller, as we did not want him (we had so many other holes to fill!) but yeah - Did history prove Buffalo wrong on this one? Absolutely. Anybody saying that Herschel wasn't good with the Vikings didn't actually watch the games or else they didn't know what they were watching. Look at his numbers. He wasn't the problem, the owner was. Herschel's contract was incentive heavy. I watched him get 90 yards in the first quarter numerous times, only to see him pulled from the game to make sure he didn't get 100 for the game. 2 QB'S ended up losing the ability to audible because their kept changing the play to give the ball to Herschel. He was catching 60 passes a year at a time when the average for a running back was around 25. And he averaged over 4.5 ypc in a outdated, useless system that was set up for failure
@danlorett2184
5 жыл бұрын
Yeah Walker was screwed by the Vikings system, that's for sure. He was a fantastic player. It still made a massive amount of sense for Dallas to trade him - the rest of the Dallas squad was near useless. Having an all-pro RB surrounded by a bunch of nobodies doesn't equal a winning team. This video doesn't really do justice explaining how they structured the trade to get one over on the Vikings either. Originally they traded for players but Dallas brought up that they wanted some kind of guarantee or consolation if the players they traded for didn't work out. That's what prompted the Vikings to offer the conditional draft picks - they knew the players they were trading were almost assuredly better than what Dallas had (which was mostly true) so the Vikings didn't think they'd have to give up the picks at all. Then Jimmy Johnson just cut all of the players because he was REALLY after the draft picks. There was a significant amount of subterfuge involved in this trade and the Vikings were blindsided by Johnson cutting ALL of the players to take ALL of the draft picks. On top of that the practice of trading up draft picks was pretty much never done in the league at this point. Johnson took his raft of picks and started calling other teams offering them draft picks in earlier years so he could get more or better picks in later years. He was able to parlay those 6 draft picks he mugged the Vikings for into nearly an entire team of top draft picks just 3-4 years later. Of course since then, teams have wised up considerably and now they value draft picks much more highly. Johnson played a trick nobody had really used before and he got the maximum value out of it, then turned that windfall into even more by innovating draft pick trading and being patient.

@@danlorett2184 Another reason to hate Dallas, if you really needed one.
oHH MAN does it feel so good to watch Matt Ufford again. I am glad ESPN has hired him and he is moving on to greater things.
As big as the Dickerson trade was, they got it right with #1. #2 was moreso win win all around. The Rams got more out of Greg Bell than the Vikings got with Walker. Indy got needed franchise legitimacy and the Bills got Bennett/Shane Conlan, key pieces for their SB teams.

I guess the Colts got legitimacy. As far as I know from my own experience most Hoosiers remained Bears fans only the 1995 season when the Colts were a missed hail mary from the SB, then Manning came along a few years later.
