Tabi tabi po is similar to the Guamanian (Chamorro) belief in the "Taotaomona". If you pee in the jungle, you have to ask permission.

If you’re hiking in the woods and have to answer the call of nature, just say “excuse me sir/ma’an before you do. It’s sort of respecting the surroundings.

it is bro, it is. and also new year, when light shows and firecrackers are lighted all around the city. it's not just in one place. even residents will light their own firecrackers up to 12mn, and it's like you're in the middle of colorful, bright warzone. btw, when you notice filipinos staring, you can just smile, wave and greet them. they're just curious, and will immediately return the warm smiles. and, when trying their food, never be shy to ask how they're supposed to be eaten/enjoyed("Halo-halo" for one, needs to be mixed first. many "need" to be dipped in some sauce. most of the food should be eaten with rice, or they might taste too flavorful). watch the locals light up, when you ask them how to appreciate the food/culture. and yes you can ask waiters, even the guards, heck, even the guests next table. they are a patient and hospitable people. treat them as a friend, and they'll treat you like a family. it is highly recommended to interact with the locals. googling can only give you so much info. the locals can guide you to a deeper appreciation of the culture. it is mostly a culture of respect, friendliness and inclusivity.

Mano mo tradition in philippines is pre hispanic. Not from spain. Indonesians too practice this to their elders.

Wrong. "Mano po" began during Spanish occupation in the Philippines. "Mano" means hand in Spanish and Mano po translate as "May I Have Your Hand?"

Expat me , been in the filippines 13 years . Immigration is a pain in the azz for sure and it can be costly . Shit Marcos quit trying to bleed us dry . I am on SS and at times it's not easy with all the bleep sheet changes . I don't have 200 million piso like Manny .
