What’s funny about the Cubs winning the 2018 World Series is that the victory was a loss for the amusement park Cedar Point. The owner of the park placed a bet on Cleveland and because they lost he was forced to rename the Top Thrill Dragster coaster to Top Thrill Cubster for the rest of the season!

I know that it was ancient history, but the reason that Lou Gehrig"s speech resonates with me so much is that he maintained a grace that is lost among most individuals today. This was a man who was scared out of his mind as he watched his dependable, athlete's body betray him. He still remained the humble, gracious man that he was. I have first hand knowledge of ALS as it runs in my family. I have lost a great grandfather, grandmother, and father to this awful disease. To have it, and not give in to total resentment and selfishness is rare.

El Capitan had a flair for the dramatic and meeting the moment. That was the only game he played in The Bronx where his team was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and he still went out and played like it meant something. Because it did. don't forget about the 2004 Atlanta fall race that Jimmie Johnson won a week after the Hendrick Motorsports plane crash. that was a emotional race for Jimmie being one of the drivers that had been driving for HMS at the time of the plane crash, which the plane was meant to be landing at the airport and instead crashed in the mountains of the Martinsville area as they were going to go to Martinsville Speedway to watch the race scheduled for the day of plane crash, the race was also won by Jimmie but NASCAR did not do the normal post-race victory lane celebration but instead told Jimmie Johnson, his teammates at the time Jeff Gordon, Terry Labonte and i assume Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers (if they hadn't left the track yet as both wrecked out of the race at lap 24 for Vickers and lap 265 for Kyle Busch) about the tragic plane crash while in the NASCAR Cup Series office aka the hauler as the office is a mobile office inside a hauler truck trailer.

Dan Wheldon's death in 2011 broke my heart, he was such a good man along with being an amazing driver and he was taken from this world way too soon in an accident that happened not because of his own fault but becasue an incompetent person was put in charge of something he didn't fully understand and decided to go somewhere indycars shouldn't have gone to hold a race. Watched the race live and I just knew that he was gone when I saw the replay of his car sailing into that catch fence cockpit first at over 200 M/PH, watching the drivers weeping in the pitlane after they were told of his passing is one of the most heartbreaking things I've seen on a live race broadcast and the five lap tribute they did in missing man formation instead of continuing the event is one of the greatest examples of respect and sportsmanship I've seen in 30 years of being a race fan.

One of my ex girlfriend’s whole family is from around the area of Chicago. We’re still friends and even though we had broken up a few months before when the Cubs won and we’re going to the World Series I immediately texted her and asked “Have you heard?!!” She had just gone to bed so she wasn’t aware, she hit me back with “What?” I then told her the cubs were going to the World Series, she freaked out and began calling all of her family. Fast forward to game 7, when that final play hit and all of Chicago erupted into celebration, I called her. She was crying as was her whole family who’d gathered at her parent’s house. Her dad was especially emotional, which is what I think made everyone else cry because the year before he’d lost his dad. Her whole family are life long Cubs fans and her grandpa and her dad had spent a lot of time going to games and watching them on tv. That moment broke him, it was something he had wished his dad had lived to see. I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it and I wasn’t even there. Lol

Why no mention of Bobby and Davey Allison's legendary father-son 1-2 finish at the 1988 Daytona 500? Or Alan Kulwicki historic victory in the 1992 NASCAR Winston Cup Championship by a single point (awarded for most laps led) in his famously rebranded "underbird" at the Hooter's 500 making him the last driver/owner to win the title in the sport in a race which also saw the beginning of Jeff Gordan's career and the swansong of "The King" Richard Petty's near 40 year career? There's also Paul Tracy's emotional win at the 2000 Molson Indy Vancouver which he dedicated to vancouver area native and fellow canadian driver Greg Moore who died at the season ending event of the 1999 season, immediately after the race he went to greg's grave and laid the checkered flag from the race over his gravestone as a tribute to his fallen friend.

#1 on the list was definitely deserved. I'm a monster Braves fan, but I was pulling for Chicago to win that one. Also, while I'm glad to see Mike Piazza's homer get an honorable mention, I think it should have made the list proper. It may have been off of our pitching staff, but that moment needed to happen. It was not only a great moment for the city, but for our nation as well. In the end, that's more important than winning a baseball game.

That moment with Tiger hugging his kids is one of the most beautiful moments I have ever watched as it echoed his first Masters win where he embraced his father and was a passing of the torch from his last Masters win in 2005, the last major Tiger would win before his father passed away.

When the Chicago Cubs won the 2016 World Series, the owner of the amusement park Cedar Point was disappointed as he was rooting for Cleveland and had placed a bet on them. After the loss, he did something that resulted in public embarrassment. You know the high speed roller coaster Top Thrill Dragster? Well for the rest of the season, it was temporarily renamed Top Thrill Cubster!
