Hey!! Can you please do a “ what to do when you bring home your chinchilla “ video..... because when I get my chinchilla I’m super nervous about scaring him or something else.. so can you please do a tutorial! ♥️♥️I love you so much!! And your videos are awesome! Thank you 💫💫😊

I have another danger to advice to avoid, from personal experience. Avoid letting your chin out when there is any small furniture light enough for them to push (and by light I mean 'less than 15lbs/8kgs). Our chinnie actually manages to push a very heavy mirror we have dismounted and were about to throw to the garbage. She went behind it as it was rather well tilted on a wall, then climbed under it and pushed it si much, that it went the other way. As a result, she has a broken paw and damaged tail. She's recovering well, but please avoid having anything that is heavy and unstable during playtime (even in the slightest). They are so curious you never know what they can do.

Hello! I have found your channel and love it! You have a new sub! I have always wanted a chinchilla but never got very into it. After finding your channel it has convinced me to save up my money for one! I am kind of young, but old enough and mature enough to take care of a chin. My parents seem fine about it. I have found out that a chinchilla is perfect for me! I’m so excited to start saving up! It may take awhile, I don’t know if I will be getting two or not, it depends on how the chinchilla is around other chins. Thank you for the information! I love your channel!! I would also like to mention the ladders that come with most 2 story cages, recently my 4 month old chinchilla got her leg caught in the ladder while everyone was asleep and she just recovered from her amputation which costed around $2000. PLEASE be cautious of what you choose to put in your chins cages because theyre extremely playful and energetic!!

So I wouldn’t recommend getting one.....

Great advice, I’ve read lots of books before getting my first chinny 17 years ago. I unplug and roll up my cords move lamps put the tv cord on the stand; there’s nothing for Nillaz to chew when she plays but, the paper towel/ toilet paper tubes is a Genius idea. Also, exercise time should always be supervised! I had my first chin end up in the drawer under the stove and couldn’t find him until I stared to make a pizza and heard him trying to get out once it got too warm. They can fit through a hole the size of a racket ball. My advice is, I can close off my living room and hallway using; baby gates!! It helps expand her run area

Your videos have been super helpful, but I noticed the bell in Merlin's cage, I've heard that they can be dangerous because they can get their teeth stuck in them. The same with chains.

@@TheChinchillaNotebook Yeah, I've heard from quite a few chinchilla owners that used to have bells or chains of their chins teeth getting stuck, some of them sadly broke their jaw trying to get their teeth unstuck.

Sticky things as well! One of my chinchillas somehow got hold of a small piece of masking tape and it was such a mission to get it out of his fur without hurting him.

Nicole Godwin Looks like it’s a Midwest Critter Nation cage. I have the Ferret Nation cage, which is the same except the bars are mainly vertical and the space between the bars is a bit larger (but it’s a cheaper price).

I have been doing a ton of research for about a month and I’m a little stressed on the temperature. Would like 71-73 be ok if it’s not I can get a thermometer and leave a fan on and see if I can get it cooler

My chinchilla just got... attacked by my mom's dog and the vet is closed she's WET and theirs a Lot of fur missing and I feel like we just lost the Bond my mom said that we can take her to the vet tomorrow I hope she's okay

Where do you get your fleece I’m a new owner and trying to figure out how to set up there cage and I’m so confused. There’s so much they need and I’m getting two females and I want them to be happy and comfortable. I’ve never had a chin

Your videos are helpful and informative. I am surrpoised that you did not include plastic in this one, though, as chinchillas seem to have a major penchant for chewing plastic. :-\ And, chinchillas, actually, CAN have bread in small amounts.

I give my chins goji berries and rose hips! You can get a little bag of goji berries from the grocery store (but only give once a week because they are high in sugar). I got a bag of crushed rose hip petals from amazon and I give my girls a small fragment every night after play time. Ideally, if you gave them a normal size rosehip, they should only have one, once a week. Since these are tiny fragments, I am able to give them a tiny piece every night and it is the sweetest thing seeing how excited they get when they hear me open the bag. Hope this helps!

Hi! I have a question. We are debating on getting a chinchilla but might actually do it. We have a big bird cage that we were thinking of transforming into a chinchilla cage ( adding platforms, ramps, toys, etc.) Would that work?

there's not gonna be any problem when you go to school. I have three chins, and I work and am in high school. All you need to do is be sure to clean them in the mornings and give them a good amount of attention when you come home

Milk Mochi I’m currently working a part time job, full time in college with a lot of courses, have gymnastic classes, and I travel a lot and still manage to find time for KZread and Merlin. It’s all about time management and making time either early in the morning or in the evening for the chinnie. It’s not easy but it’s doable. You just gotta make it a priority. I’m sure you’ll be just fine 💕

Im using my dad's account so dont mind the profile picture but. it was my birthday yesterday and we went to the pet store to get me a chinchilla but when we went to the pet store it was the managers chinchilla they had an instagram and the coworker said that they are trying to breed it and sell the baby chinchillas in december so this will be good tips for me when is get my own pet

I think it’s ok!! I didn’t give my Chin a wheel bc I heard stories of chins getting their leg amputated due to some accident with wheels. My cage has many levels for him to jump around and I let him out everyday. He seems happy so I’d say it’s ok not to have a wheel 😊

Mine is like 6 months old, chews on everything except my fingers.. he would even try to chew the iron door or start nibbling on furniture 😮 Yesterday i saw that his drinking bottle started leaking. He actually managed to chew a little whole in it. (He seemed fine with the bottle he came with, so i didn't buy an expensive glass bottle.. but now i will have to) i hope he manages to drink from a little bowl for today

Kewl kewl I have popcorn roof and it’s ok cuzzzzzz roof :| it’s not spider chinchilla XD but I do have cats but I will keep my Ginger, Moon and Umbra away from them (I have not gotten my baby) I will also take away ALL potted plants of course aloe plant cuz the juice may be toxic so ye :3 we don’t have crumbs tho >:)

My chinchilla isn't bothered by my dog or cat. I had him out on my bed and he kept trying to get close to my cat but my cat kept moving away.

Christoff Benade Hmmm. That is strange. Maybe put him in the bin and sprinkle the dust over him and pet it into his fur. He’ll most likely shake it off but at least he’ll have had a little dust on him. I can’t remember exactly but I think when we got our first Chinchilla, he had the same issue and that’s what we did until he started using his bath normally

Kawaii Suri apples are fine just remember they are a once every couple weeks type treat. And if you are adding it to their diet then go very slowly so you don’t upset their stomach

I have a question My pet Chinchilla Toyo when i let him out he scratches my dog Fendi tail and i dont know why and i dont if the fluff. And Fendi is very old and have cataracts, and fendi and Toyo get along very well and they really play. Please dm for more info

Personally, I say no. Especially toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls since they have leftover glue residue. Also, the first and last time I let my chins chew on cardboard, one of them appeared almost like she was choking, so I took it away immediately. Also, it could expand in their bellies, which wouldnt be good.
