Great video. I love your narration and the tone and intonation you use in your descriptions. This was a great list, I've played food chain magnate and I will definitely look for antiquity. I always wanted to try Agra, almost got it new for $19. I have Dominant Species and enjoy that with the right group. Gloomhaven is OK, I feel it is like programming a video game fighting monsters. I love Pax Pamir, it is a top 5 game of all time for me. I must try a Lacerda game, perhaps something I need to add to my collection. This was an amazing list of games. I will certainly follow your videos more often.

I'm glad you liked the video. Pax Pamir is now in my top 10 and possibly top 5. Just an amazing game. And if you enjoy heavy euros then definitely check out Lacerda. I've made playthroughs of Kanban EV, Weather Machine and Inventions, so you can check those out. I'd also look into the Gallerist and Lisboa. It can be hard to pick a first Lacerda game. Best to just jump into whichever one seems most interesting thematically. Thanks for watching!

Once I saw your number 10 I knew I was in for a fantastic list. If you haven't, I'd encourage diving into the pax series with Transhumanity and Renaissance. Thanks Aaron. Glad you enjoyed the video. I definitely have had my eye on the rest of the pax series, but never dived in. Arkwright nearly made the list but I need more plays. My couple plays were several years ago but I remember having a great time. Heavy economic games are tough for me to get to the table. I almost put Three Kingdoms Redux on the list, but again not enough plays. Thanks for watching!

What a great list. I haven't tried anything Lacerda yet and keep almost getting there but not quite. Super curious about the video you will make about them. Also, I'm curious what you think about Spirit Island. And ... if it ever comes up, I'd be so intrigued to see a tutorial playthrough of Pax Pamir because I've tried to wrap my brain around it, it is so elegant and beautiful (visually and game-design), and I'm still like not quite grokking it. Sort of how you described it. Your videos are frickin' awesome! Thanks for all the work you put into them.

My games must have a theme i connect with, great board presence and player interaction and/or take that, which is important in our cutthroat group 😁 I'm contemplating Feudum at the moment, but im also mesmerised by Anachrony, especially since they glammed it up. @@TotallyTabled I felt the same way and bought Cuba Libre, but I have to say I was disappointed. The rule book is one of the most complicated I have ever come across and I have played far more complex games than Cuba Libre. I've probably now played Cuba Libre around 12 times because I wanted to make absolutely sure I'd given the game a chance. (This includes playing solo, which I wouldn't recommend as you have to manage 3 different factions which all have separate rules with a flowchart for each. I actually ended up drawing up my own flowcharts to make the process more streamlined, which did help, but I was still left feeling underwhelmed.)

Ooh, 'Pax Pamir' is incredibly good. So good. Really, really good. Wakhan (solo) is good. I'm eagerly anticipating Cole's 'John Company' right now. 'Lisboa' is 100% fantastic--like, few will ever top it fantastic. Challenging to teach, but worth it. I desperately wanted the same from 'On Mars', but... uh... it just didn't land in the same way, even with the brilliant theme. I like to play games a lot before putting them on lists and whatnot. And while I've played all the Lacerda games at least a dozen times, I've not played them all solo that many times. My current plan -- Inventions: Evolution of Ideas is on the way to my house (once all the ice melts). I will try to make that list after playing it and making a playthrough video. All Lacerda's on two? I do not mind the cheat but it is wrong ... On Mars for example is a lot heavier than Gallerist... there is a lot of difference between the Lacerda's. Your list is interesting, but mine is totally different, but that's to be expected, ask a 100 gamers and you'll have a 100 different lists. Great choices. The problem I have been s not the complexity of a game but the rule book ! If the rules are logically laid out then a bit of time and effort will suffice. However, if the rule book is badly written ( mainly due to lazy translation ) then it becomes frustrating and eventually boring trying to " decipher" how best do I play this game without cheating ! Robinson Crusoe: Cursed Island (1at Ed) had my head spinning but I did so want to play it that I started writing notes with lots of ??? Did "this, that it the other make sense " ?......The answer was invariably no ! You may have guessed by now that I started playing a sort of " my own game " version ! Not a good idea at all because it can become a habit and a bad one at that. What helped ? Yes, watching UTube. Needless to say, some videos are better than others as are the ones explaining. Shaggi, you are calm and collected and that helps so much whearas there are others that talk fast, camera angles and audio problems to boot and " well, that is it ' attitude......I cringe at those. Congratulations for being the best. BTW: Yes, I lost again playing " This War of Mine " and not due to fighting this time but due to the cold and lack of food. Will try again next week 😊 Kind regards and more great games.

Thanks so much for the confidence boost! You are not alone struggling with rulebooks, especially Robinson Crusoe -- I still have nightmares! Adding poor translation to the mix. Yikes. Rules are definitely the number one obstacle to the board game hobby and I think KZread creators are essential to opening up the hobby to a greater audience and just making life easier for gamers. I hope I'm doing my small part. Thanks again and good luck with your next This War of Mine play. I'm rooting for you! :)

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. This is a very good question. It is sort of a perfect storm of things I don't like: 1. trains as a theme does not interest me at all, in fact it often infuriates me; 2. economic games are not really my cup of tea, especially when I'm not really building or creating something that I care about; 3. the gameplay-to-bookkeeping ratio is WAY off. It felt like I would take one or two small actions and then 10 minutes of boring bookkeeping. It is so long with so little action and in one game we just "calculated" the final round because the gameplay had all dried up. Yikes. The design feels super rusty to me and I just don't get that excited about making slightly more money one turn to the next. I find the route building to be more interesting in something like Age of Steam. But that is just my taste -- similar arguments could probably be made against my beloved Lacerda games too. Considering how lonely I am, yet actually a pretty nice guy, but also intelligent I am, its ironically embarrassing how outgoing I try to be- but being so poor most of my life is easily makes people like me seem easily: boring, frankly dorky and unappealing. That's a tough question Richie. My first rec is to always try before you buy if you can, which can be difficult with these sort of games. With Lacerda I recommend the Gallerist if you want the easiest way in. If you don't care about weight then I would go with theme -- Kanban is my personal favorite but I feel like most people would go with Lisboa. You can't go wrong really. For Mindclash, I really love Anachrony. I haven't tried their newest game (I forget the name) but a strong recommendation for Anachrony if you like worker placement. @@TotallyTabled Toph here. I've got to chime in before my friend throws me under the bus. Brad just, well, doesn't appreciate the finer things in gaming. Through the Ages, in the limited play time that we've had, was too long and too difficult for him. I, on the other hand, appreciate fine game mechanics and the beauty that is TTA. Don't fear, I'm working on bringing to the right side of gaming. But, in the meantime, know that I've got your back in this duel. He is, after all, Bad at Board Games 🤣

What do you think about pax pamir solo? Btw putting all lacerdas at 2 should be considered as cheating 😂😂

Yep, sorry about the cheating AG Gar. :) I haven't played Pax Pamir solo, only several times at 4p and several times at 5p and maybe once 2p, if I remember correctly. People seem to want to see the solo mode, so I'm moving that up the to-do list. Thanks!
