    Richard understands these little incremental value cards like Spirited Companion so well. Yes, white has strong cards like Sun Titan or Smothering Tithe. Those are the big game winning ones everyone remembers at the end of a game. But it's the "filler cards" that make a deck work more smoothly which is exactly what white needs more of. Spirited Companion is a simple 2for1 (a body + one time card draw) and in the entirety of possible magic cards, only Wall of Omens is the other 2cmc draw a card on etb card in white, which already sees a ton of play. Plus with possible synergies for enchantments, blink or white weenie, this card will become a silent auto include in many decks.

    Spirited Companion is going directly into my Cycling Zur control deck. I use the Astrals to blink creatures that have removal or card draw when they ETB. The doggo is amazing because it's a card draw blink target that Zur can tutor to make sure I find a draw creature I can start blinking to churn through my deck to find Approach, my sole win condition.

    @@MTGGoldfish Absolutely. Both it and Yuriko kind of present a similar thought on running other ninja cards in my opinion. They both have effects that say "we work well with other ninjas... (Yuriko triggering off of ninja damage and Satoru triggering off of ninjutsu which other ninjas may be able to do for less mana) but we work just as well/better *without* other ninjas". Biggest build difference seems to me to be Satoru wants a big creature(or combo) top end instead of Yuriko's spells with alternate/reduceable costs top end... and Satoru doesn't need to run the enchantments that turn its little unblockable creatures into Ninjas.

    Great picks. I am honestly happy to see mechs and hacking in magic, but the one thing I just never want to see is guns. I think they were right to steer clear of them in Kamigawa: Neon Genesis, but they seem pretty integral to warhammer designs. I hope the magic versions that get printed on The List are more in line with the kamigawa aesthetic.

    Richard is right about Spirited Champion. It is a very good card for blinking/recur in Commander. Low mana cost can-trippy creatures are very good in other colors as well and this will go into any deck wants that and has white. I'd rather getting an incremental value over time with blinking/recurring effects than one mega X=7 blue Sun's zenith.

    What’s broken about an unfetchable land that taps for one colour and can be a spell you’d never run if it were a spell on its own? The closest I can see is it being an ability rather than a spell so much harder to counter, but they’re far from busted especially in this format. They’re just good cards. Also rare cards should be good, if they weren’t people would complain about junk rares and them not impacting draft. WotC serve many masters.

  • @alaraplatt8104

    @alaraplatt8104

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@deifiedtitan fetchability doesn't really matter anyway since these are monocolor and have no extra abilities on the battlefield. if you have any basics in your deck these are an upgrade unless you're terrified of blood moon. its definitely still a bad idea to buy packs just to get rares but when isnt that the case when it comes to draft, i think itd be a lot more interesting if the rare slot was reserved more for solid buildarounds, signposts, and a few weird tools for constructed instead of just jamming randomly superpowered cards into packs, which leads to formats like the recent Crimson Vow, widely considered suboptimal as a draft format because it so often came down to who drew their rare bomb better than the other player. in that department the channel lands are obviously not offenders since they're definitely not bombs, so i actually think theyre great for limited too... can you tell im way off topic

    Agreed, it should a bit more restriced in my opinion. Even a simple "Choose two" would have been super strong. I liked the way they made different white board wipes that you could run in specific decks for additional value, like Celestial Judgement or Promise of Loyalty. Farewell just puts the bar so high for "medium power" that it will be difficult to justify running something else at that cost unless you really don't want to exile your stuff or you have something that is more synergistic with your deck.

    No, Spirit Sister is a replacement effect not a trigger. Since the blink effect exiles it, the Spirit Sister is satisfied (it’s already exiling so no need to replace exile with an exile) but since this exile is tacked to returning it, it returns the card. Then since it left the battlefield and reentered, it is a new object thus it ‘forgets’ the previous inhibition placed upon it by Spirit Sister. Does that make sense?

    I just noticed that Kamigawa has "Unquenchable Fury" as a commander extra in set boosters, but that name was already used in original Theros for a sorcery (as a special seperate format). I knew there were cards with the same name in translations since those are not the main language of MTG, but here it is. Has that happened before ? It's the first time I noticed something of the sort.

    @@michaelearthur93 I was thinking of maybe putting it in my Yarok deck. It’s become more of a reanimator deck with double ETB triggers. Kinda serves as a Meren deck.

    6:27 - B's land might see some play, but is it worth cutting a basic swamp? Cabal Coffers + bad Cabal Coffers like swamps. There are already a lot of utility lands a monoblack deck runs, so cutting a swamp for this really turns on how often you'll play this is a spell, where as the others do not. Being -1 on Cabal Coffers mana (when you don't draw/tutor Urborg) is a significant cost, and a 4(or 3) mana raise dead effect isn't THAT exciting. I don't even know if this goes in Syr Konrad, and that's probably the mono colored deck it has the most synergy with.

    I don't believe I say this, but I miss mono red, as someone who hated Mono Red, it's been more than 2 years almost where Mono Red is literally unplayable. It's going to be fun to play some explosive fun mono red or even boros in standard.
