@@hoabui5532 They are. It's not unusual to have multiple military installations in a single county, or city. Another example in this video is both NS Mayport and NAS Jax are located in Duval County, Florida and are about 28 driving miles apart from one main gate to the other (depending on the route taken, it could be longer).

When we entered the Naval Base in Norfolk in 1977, we were deeply impressed by the size of the ships. We stayed in the USA and the Caribbean for four months and completed a five-week training course in Guantanamo with the Fleet Training Group. We achieved the grade Outstanding at that time. I served in the German Navy from 1975-1979 and was deployed on the destroyer ROMMEL. Our ship belonged to the John F. Adams Class and it was built for the German Navy in the Bath Iron Works - Bath / Maine. We had three ships of this type that formed the 1st destroyer squadron in Kiel. I like to remember that time.

Sad enough that already at this time in the 70's americans had to build german destroyers. But it is even more ridiculous today to see housewives as our minister of defense running the German Bundeswehr. Don't we we have an pride no more that we let these people making a kindergarten out of our soldiers and the German army and these and other politicians who have absolutely no clue, what they are doing, running our once so beloved country into the ground? Shame on them.

Was stationed at Pax in late 70's to early 80's. Involved in rotary wing flight test aircraft, but went all over when test requirements dictated it. After 4 years in the Navy separated and went to work for Dynalectron at USNTPS, then Force Warfare Aircraft Test Directorate. Good learning experience and pointed me toward a airline career, just retired after 32 years with a major US Airline. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. Been to J'ville and Mayport along with Kings Bay...the good old days which I'd never trade in...been on northern runs (blue-nose)and places that are probably still classified...miss my old shipmates...some are gone and some I've lost contact with but I am thankful for the privilege and honor of serving my country in the best military force in the history of the world !

Nice run down, During my time in service I saw about half the list at one time or another. I recall taking a course at Naval Station Norfolk in June of 1990. I'd often have lunch at the McDonald's across from the carrier piers. I was an awesome sight to see with most of the fleet in port. When I returned in late August it was quite different and looked like a ghost town as Kuwait had been invaded and a lot of the Navy had deployed to the Middle East.

San Diego's base is huge. In the late 90's there was a seaside hotel called the Ocean Park Inn right on the boardwalk. It was very affordable and we slept to the sound of the waves. We saw those ships go out to sea from our balcony which was amazing. Don't know if that hotel is still there, but it's definitely the place to stay if you're going to San Diego.

Bremerton WA (PSNS), Coronado (North Island/San Diego)), 32nd Street (San Diego, CA), and NS Mayport Florida, and For a week at the Navy Base in Long beach CA (1985). All during the '80s, and I had a blast at most of them! 😉 OH! And as a kid, was a Navy Brat in Algiers LA! :)

Jacksonville, FL is a big Navy town. It was even more so when I lived there because Cecil Field Naval Air Station was still operational at that point. Just north of Jacksonville, on the Georgia side of the Florida/Georgia border, is Kings Bay Naval Submarine base as well. So right in that area you had, when I lived there, NAS Jacksonville, Mayport Naval Base, NAS Cecil Field, and Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base.
