Any hit that Chrome takes will be at the expense of Safari or Edge. Chrome is pre-installed on Android systems, Safari on Apple and Edge on Microsoft windows (he said, educating no one) and the three will keep market dominance because of that. Debian might come with Firefox but by the time someone's realized they should switch to Linux they've already learned that Firefox is their home.

Firefox wins by default because of Multi-account Containers that lets you isolate tabs so they're on different sessions and use separate session cookies. Let's me run KZread Music without music recommendations invading my KZread frontpage. I unfortunately need to keep using Facebook to stay in touch with family so Facebook stays in it's own container so Zuck can't track me even with Meta Pixel invading the web. I can have my throwaway and personal Gmails, which are both separate Google accounts from my KZread, all open at the same time on different tabs on the same Firefox window. I can have my two Reddit accounts open at the same time on their separate containers. It's just so indispensable to me.

Will the api removal affect chromium browsers?

I got tiered of this controversy, so I use edge. it comes built in, it's fast and it' slight on the ram. finally I'me really impressed with the copilot thing.

I would disagree with the listed downsides of Brave and instead mention that the UI is kind of clunky (a mix between Chrome's simplicity and Edge's overwhelming amount of features) and that it's heavily crypto-oriented (although you can disable most of that and still get mostly normal browsing experience)

Been using Brave for a long time and the experience is entirely normal. Don't know where you get the mostly part. I haven't had to disable the crypto stuff because none of it was running to begin with. Outside of the start page i see few nags about crypto. It is without doubt the best for privacy if someone wants to stick with chromium based browser. The crypto stuff is opt in.

had firefox on my last rig. currently using edge on my current rig. something about crome that i just keep going back to it. getting a new rig sometime this year and most likely just stay with crome

Edge for me wins hands down with a far greater feature set yet still managing to hold well in performance benchmarks. A few milliseconds here and there between chromium based browsers isnt worth changing my daily driver for. PDF annotations, webshot, translator, shopping coupon scanner, and native vertical tabs are features I use daily.

Arc uses more ram and felt heavy too many unnecessary customization. I am using m2 pro MacBook pro 16 gb ram version .

Microsoft Edge is underrated. I've been using it and never had any issues. I use Edge and Brave.

honestly firefox has won me over lately especially because of chrome / windows 11 NVIDIA video playback issue with flickering unless i playback in openGL which draws more power i will say though adblock on KZread seems to cause a memory leak where it just goes up 1.6gb+ for one tab when disabled only 960mb but i have youtube premium so it doesn't matter and it's only on KZread.

In the past, I have used Firefox. My memories of it was. How dumb it became when I went to Google Chrome. And now it's acting just like Firefox did. Today you present some good choices. Question for you, on the VPN. Which one is good for the non-tech guy. Which would be me. How easy does it operate. If it has issues, which one is easier to figure out? Again thank you 👍

I know Opera GX is kind of controversial but i honestly love the look of the browser, yeah some people might think that its spyware but most people don't tend to care if a browser is spyware or not.

Been using firefox for a while (I switched to firefox because of the youtube ad issue I felt in Chrome). Honestly Firefox feels great. No annoying ads with ublock on. No issues whatsoever. Firefox can be a bit demanding on low-end systems because it takes up more resources than Chrome but if you have a good processor and sufficient RAM then it should run smoothly even if you have multiple tabs open (like me). I have also tried Edge and it is great but I prefer Firefox.

For me Edge is the best browser! Like many, I used to have Chrome and my default browser. However, I changed to Edge three years ago now Edge is my default Browser. I also have Brave and Chrome installed. I find Chrome's new personalization colors sooooooooo ugly now.

So no 'spyware' category today... that's a fail. Promoting 'privacy' and ignoring the dominance of google's Chromium code is a mistake - Firefox also works perfectly for me.

word of caution: do *not* install opera. it was bought by a "dodgy" company that is *known* to harvest all your data. when this happened, some of the original developers of opera, forked it into vivaldi. again, do *NOT* install opera. rather do vivaldi. (for me: Librewolf FTW)

KZread has pop ups? I'm on every day for hours for years and never saw one. I'm driving Firefox since about 2006 or 7. I used to use the plugin ABP but switched a few months ago to Unblock Origin. The last browser I used before Firefox was Netscape but back then most webpage designers just ignored that anyone might use something other than Internet Explorer so Netscape became unuseable. Amazing browser tho'

Because YT is irritating me with theire advertisements, sometimes during a 1 hour docu I get every 5 minutes, at least, some advertisements, till I installed an Adblocker, allready a long time ago. But then they started to complain and cancell you from YT. Since then I took Brave, and since then that is my favorit on my (Linux) desktop, my (Linux) labtop, my Android smartphones and even at my Android TV. Brave the number 1 (for me).

I'm not a fan of bells & whistles. Browser features are like glitter.

Give it a shot if you don't care about your privacy, however take what people say about Opera GX with a grain of salt as they literally provide no concrete evidence.

Safari is not the best for Mac users. Orion is also based on WebKit but allows Firefox and Chrome plugins.
