I was actually also trying to make gpt-4-turbo/gpt-4o to work with stocks or crypto for the last 2 weeks, but it seems to be quite bad at actual trading, i tried giving it charts with different intervals, news data from trading view etc. but when running against historical data in a simulation it goes into into "minus" profits

Thanks for the comment. I made this within an hour of the announcement, so definitely didn't do any rigorous testing. I did notice it was much better than my previous tests with GPT4 Vision. Will share more as I experiment.

Harry, can you make a video about xAI? Explainable Machine learning? and how to find out a high winrate strategy out of xAI? I prepared a huge dataset 1 min for last 15 years for both stock and options and merged with fundamental data over years. I have tested this parquet file using different xAI platform both free and commercial ones. It found out a 90% win rate day trading strategy with feature generation ML; it looks promising but not sure about its further performance.

...uhh, if you already have the underlying data, you could save yourself the trip by getting the max and mins over the interval. Actually a lot of stats are already available in the data itself through quantifiable functions.

Thanks, I did exactly that in the last video, which is why there is a horizontal line drawn at the high. I've done a lot of videos on pandas and associated data analysis libraries already. I have simply been testing out vision capabilities and thought it was interesting.

I would be hesitant to rely on the results provided by gpt4o unless you have ground truth test cases which can be evaluated for accuracy. Your multi asset heatmap would be a good test for this. Take 10 of then and ask for the known values of several of the assets listed. (In unique requests) and compare that with truth. This would be an important tool to have as the model evolves.

To do what's in my previous video, I have the US Securities Snapshot and Futures Value Bundle (10/month, fee waived if monthly commissions reach 30USD) and US Equity and Options Add-On Streaming Bundle (4.50/month). Sometimes I subscribe to other things (eg. News and Research, other market data bundles), but don't talk about that much.

Yeah totally for a simple case. This is a Python programming channel, so I am thinking more in terms of programmatically capturing info to a database or filesystem, so I could automatically have something happen thousands of times, for instance. I am more API developer / app builder focused and think about how to integrate features into your own app or pipeline. Some people just want to use ChatGPT itself, which is awesome.

i like the idea! though, actually, being involved in algo trading on my own, i do not see, how this helps here? is does not tell you, when to enter a position? it does not tell you, when to exit a position? it does not give you basic TA-KPI which you would likely use to enter a position (like ADX, RSI, MACD....) and lets assume you do not need this TA-KPI, and let us assume that this output includes somehow a little bit of magic- then, still, i do not see how the AI system is helping me beyond(!) what i can see on my own with all these KPI enabled? the project has some output and i fully understand the motivation of linking these two funcationalities together, though its actually - yet - not really useful for a trading day?

Google just dropped a vision model on HuggingFace today, haven't had a chance to see if it knows anything about charts: huggingface.co/spaces/google/paligemma

Where have been Larry....almost disappeared.

So it only reads what the graph shown, thats not analysis, is reading the graph. But still good I guess

All the pricing is on the openai pricing page. I think the costs have come down so much that I don't really think about the cost anymore -- it's just part of my life at this point and I expect to pay $x a month on AI-related consumption and research. You are right, I should have mentioned it though.

but you could just save time and paste directly into gpt

It’s data . Financial Analysis is meat and potatoes. So is accounting.

What’s the point of this analysis though? You cannot invest based on such cursory analysis. These types of programs ( not from images but from raw data feed) have existed for a long time now.

Very cool, but I don't see how this would be useful as it tells you what you see with your eyes but you have to waste time reading it or listening to it while you know all that in 2 seconds when you look at it. Maybe if you take it further and have some agent analyze the output and alert you on something

That's an oversophisticated and too complicated method of achieving a black hole in your wallet. There are way more simple methods than that with the same degree of "success" widely available out there.
