You didn't include the scene with the death of Marshall's dad! It's one of my favorite HIMYM behind the scene facts! (other than the countdowns within the scenes) The actor of Marshall (Jason Segel) had no idea what the bad news was during their whole take and was told to react with what Lily will say by the end. It was pretty cool and such a raw and emotional moment

I think it has some truth to it. Not because of Britney's acting but, because she was in it more people started watching it. Britney's fan base is huge. HIMYM had some bad rep being compared to Freinds and all. Of course it sounds ridiculous to the fans from day one. But for someone like me who started watching after season 5 has finished, I may not have started watching if it got cancelled before that.

What I heard is that they filmed the ending (with the children) back in season 2 when Ted and Robin was still together, and this was very early in the seasons before everybody had really evolved. They wanted to inclue the children in the last episode, so they did that 360!

@@Msptomb yes, but they also filmed an alternative ending too. They just didn't know which one to go with, until everybody kept saying that they better end with Ted and Robin. That's why the last season completely wrecked Barney and Robin. Before that season, Barney had done a 180 and became a mature, caring person. And then people complained, so they had Barney sabotage himself.

The kids knew the ending for a decade and kept the secret!!! Damn!!! Now that's dedication !!!!

Also, when Lily told Marshall about his dad's death, Jason Siegel (or however you spell it) had no idea about the scene's contents beforehand. Marshall's reaction on camera was Siegel's real reaction to hearing the bad news for the first time.

I dont think they knew who the mother was ( because it was never said during their scenes about her) the one thing they knew was the part about telling Ted to go after Robin so in a way they keeping a secret was a bad thing , if people knew they planned to do that they would change their mind and maybe do a better ending....

@@2005StangMan I read the opposite, that this ending was planned from the second season and regretted the fact that they were stuck with the story how it was by the end. Personally, I loved it this way so it doesn't really matter to me

Either the Lindsy and David contract was pretty stern or they are two of the most reliable people to keep a secret or both ... Damn, eight years!

Another fun fact is that every significant other of the main cast that appeared shared a scene together Scooter/Bill asking Barney were they ask when someone objects Sandy Rivers talking to Lily at Robins award ceremony And Gary Bloumen talking to Robin before her wedding

I love that they used Lyndsay and David in the promo for s9 how they're all grown up and flip their sh!t on 'Ted'

Everyone seems so pissed about the ending, but if you rewatch again or you could remember how madly and insanely in love Ted to Robbin and how Robbin always not that sure to be in relationship after she broke up with Ted gave a sign that they both could end up together. I love Barney and Robin together so much, but two of them are so independent and it’s not gonna work if the relationship will go for last. They have to balance each other with that Ted and Robin is totally more make sense. Beside, Robin and Barney learned a lot from their relationship and become a better person each one of them... Barney finally say the words that he thinks he couldn’t say it to another person at the first place (his daughter) and Robin achieved her dreams.

Loved this show until the last season.......

I drifted away from the show in the middle years and then reconnected with it in the last season. So for me, the last season is the most meaningful. I never liked the idea of Barney and Robin together.

It does but it doesn't, being honest, I think it's better if the whole story lacks a final point over forcing the characters to move backwards in order to fit what you thought 10 years ago. You can always give a generic reason like "I just really miss her" or "I wanted you to know more about me, your mother and your aunts and uncles", at the end all those seasons that you enjoyed are there, changing the characters at the end for the worst, on the other hand, ruins it a little.

well i also think that it makes a lot of sense. Just think about it: ted always loved robin, no matter what. And with tracy he found a woman that he loved just as much. BUT the huge difference between the girls is, that tracy gave him the kids he always wanted, but robin never did. So, in the end ted gets to be with robin but also has his two kids.

Out of all Ted's escapades I really thought Victoria would've been the one

It did not ruin everything grow the fuck up. You can still watch the episodes and laugh at them, you can still enjoy everything up until the final episode. Fuck it, just cut it short in the final episode and watch the alternate ending

what they shouldve done to prevent the kids aging being a problem they should’ve just made Ted tell the kids the story every now and then as punishment or something and he would just continue from wherever they left off

I've been watching HIMYM for years and I didn't know the cast members OH's were in it! Blew my mind

But Cobie Smulders met Taran Killam when he was on the show in the first season, so you can't really say he had a cameo because of her.

NPH was a bit of a jerk for withholding from the others when they campaigned for higher salaries that would have made them nearly equal to him. Alyson was as much of an established name as he was but they didn't spring for a bigger pay for her. That's messed up.

@@TheLeonardbz He was a child actor that successfuly transitioned to a moderately successful acting career even before HIMYM. It was a cult following for sure, he wasn't mr. Hollywood, but he already had a dedicated fanbase because of his genuinely great ability to do improv and his musical/dancing chops. I don't even remember who Alyson played in American pie, and I bet too many people do either.

Brittney didn't "save" the show, as obviously no one managed to save the producers to drown the show's ending in liquid poop.

Ted is a notoriously unreliable narrator, passing on a story from Barney "A lie is just a cool story someone ruined with the truth" Stinson. I didn't see it as a real inconsistency.

I really hate that himym is always in friends shadow , how I met your mother DID copy off friends but it's also a fantastic show that doesn't get enough credit

'Actress' is a very loose term for Britney Spears.

Carl wasn't the owner until "the future". They tell that on the last season, in the same episode where Gary Blauman appears for the last time.

The filming of the kids early on is why the finale ended up being a let down. They wrote themselves into a corner by planning out the ending (Robin) instead of adapting to how the show was progressing. The character arcs/development was tossed away because of the pre-planned ending. Didn't even care about the kids smh.

I didn't know those "jerks" were real life husbands of the cast, that is so cool! 😍

They are only in different clothes in the pilot. Maybe one or two other episodes in the first season, but other than that, the kids wardrobe never changes.

Only issue I had with the ending was the last season. They spent the entirety of it on the wedding when they should’ve focused on Ted and Tracy and the group.

In a Bro code copy of mine, Article 89 is "A Bro shall always say yes in support of a bro" I guess some are re-numbered
