Had it not been for Bruce McLaren, they wouldn't have made an impact in F1 AND made the car company. Big thank you to Bruce McLaren for creating a legacy for all to follow.

Yes indeed, Brian... He won his first won Grand Prix at the 1959 United States Grand Prix. He won it at 22 years and 80 days old. It's a shame he died in that crash in 1970. I would've loved to hear the story from the man himself...

He also won Le Mans at the age of 28 or 29 in 1966 and that's pretty young

Whenever I watch Tooned, I think about where the company might've been if Bruce wasn't sadly lost. I'm just a young adult, but I still do tear up a little when it gets to the transition into F1/Can-Am. The music makes it even better. Cheers from America, mate. What a character you were.

Such a shame he died at the age of just 32, ironically the same age as Bruce Lee and also just like Jochen Rindt he crashed in an MD8 while testing it for the CAN-AM series after his brake shaft failed and was unable to stop the car and collided into an embankment. Would love to see Bruce McLaren proud of how much of an impact the team he made and became a car company as well and became almost the equivalent of the British Ferrari.

I don't disagree with you, but I think more people associate Lauda with Ferrari than they do McLaren, even if one of his championships was with the latter. Plus, Prost is supposed to be in the room that night. Lauda is the one that he lost the championship to in 1984, that might get a little akward. XD

How did Russel manage to fly in that dirty air? 😂

im a kiwi and i have had to do a project on bruce mclaren and i loved every moment of it. i have also seen his first F1 car

Just love the fact that the engine in Bruce's car turned into a V8 after Bruce tore the roof off it

I’m currently am in the progress of saving for a new mclaren 570s. I’m Half way there and I Can’t wait! Definitely the coolest supercars imo

Yeah, I’m agree with you, back in 1966 24 Hour Of Le Mans really should count as Ken Miles won the first place. He is the hero, bring the GT40, overtake every Ferrari and other race cars and reach the finished line.

He was designing the McLaren M6GT roadcar and wanted to make roadcars based on his successful Can-Am racers. Had they been powered by the big-block Chevy V8's I have a feeling they would have made easy work of all other supercars in the 70's. Sadly his premature death ended the road car programmed he was so keen on starting. Bruce would have loved the F1 even if he had had no part in its design. Only a handful of McLaren M6GT's were built but the well-known and respected American car magazine Road & Track tested a M6GT in 1974 and they were very impressed by its handling and performance which were incredible at the time. Anyways. His sprit remained in the team even after his passing. He had permanently imprinted those who worked with him and they kept up his philosophy.
