Tool Time Tuesday: Tomyvic 21v Mini Chainsaw Kit - Perfect for the workshop AND the yard!

Ойын-сауық

I got a chance to check out the Tomyvic 21v Mini Chainsaw Kit and I am so impressed! I’ve been wanting to get a battery operated baby chainsaw, but don’t let the size fool you - this is not a toy! This makes trimming workpieces on the lathe a breeze, and it’s a perfect pruning saw for the property. The kit includes (2) 21v Lithium Batteries plus the charger and (2) chains and a one year warranty. You can use the affiliate link below to get one of your own - I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

    I've been a long-time subscriber Lisa... since you went live. That said, I've really been missing your woodturning and truly hope your plan is to move back in that direction at some point. For now, though, the infomercial content is not what I'm looking for. So I think I'll take a break from it for a while. Hope to see you back soon... V

    Yep, I get it. Woodturning is my main thing and while it has been fun trying out the lasers and integrating them into my work, I’m not planning to do any more laser reviews. Shoulder surgery is coming up in about a month so have been recording some projects to publish while I’m out of commission so there is turning in the near future! Thanks for sticking with me, I appreciate it!

    Hi Lisa 🖐 I guess good things can come in little packages ! Glad you find it useful. Me ? Prolly not 'cause we've down sized and don't have mush landscaping and the occasional lumpy log cuts OK by hand. Take care. -Mike

    Hey Mike! I’m planning to start trying some bigger, gnarlier workpieces so I’ll def get some use on the lathe. And living in the forest, well…yeah. 🤣

    I’m most excited about using it to trim pieces in the lathe - so much more manageable than the sawzall or my bigger electric chainsaw

    Would this be good enough to cut a near finished piece of of the lathe instead of a hand saw? I presume you would have to leave a little bit more wood.

    I think so and will definitely try it. I’ve used a sawzall before but that’s a bit unwieldy-this thing is super light so as long as you’ve accounted for it and left some extra at the base I think it’ll work nicely

    Is it designed for up to certain diameter limbs?

  • @LisaRamlow

    @LisaRamlow

    I think it says up to 6” limbs and that is the size of the bar. I did some that were just smaller diameter than that, so the tip was still clearing the other side.

    It is too bad they don't make it with an automatic oiler it is a pain in the neck having to constantly put oil on the bar and chain especially if you are doing a lot of trimming

    Yeah I can see that. In this price range I’m not sure that’s a viable option. Perhaps the big name tool manufacturers have those features? I have Ridgid battery operated tools and they don’t (yet) make a mini chainsaw but I know some of the others do and since the price for just the tool is almost double this whole kit, they might have some added features like the automatic oiler?

    @@LisaRamlow yes I believe some of them do have auto oilers I am like you I do have one without we get what we pay for.
