Adam Jones created the band in 1990 (guitarist). Maynard James Keenan is the sole vocalist; Justin Chancellor from the UK is their bassist, has been since 1995; and Danny Carey is their drummer, quite possibly the best percussionist of our time. He can handle four different time-signatures simultaneously.

Here comes the Tool Army! Please do more. You have a good ear 🌀It's very helpful to read about them early. And if that's herb you're smoking, this will be your favorite band. Also, in terms of being a rock virgin, you just went to the pinnacle of bands. It's all downhill from here 😂. I'm 62 and Tool is my favorite band. Lyric reading is a must with Tool. Maynard is a poet. Subbing for Tool!

Tool has so many outstanding tracks, but here are some of my favorites... Vicarious, Schism, The Grudge, Parabol/Parabola, Reflection, Pneuma, and Descending. Those last two are Tool at their pinnacle, just true masterpieces.

Loved your ratm reactions and now you've found my favorite band ever! I can't wait to watch you become part of the tool army! The only advice I can share is to focus on the audio versions, the music videos (although great in their own way) can be distracting from the sound itself

Tool’s music takes you on a journey thru your mind. Lateralus, Descending, Schism, are just a few songs from Tool. Tool doesn’t have a bad song at all. Spiral Out 🌀

One doesn'tsimply listen to Tool, one experiences it lol. Love your energy and that you are branching out. Definitely do the live Danny Carey drum version of Pneuma for a whole other experience. And much like Ren, i feel Tool is in their own genre category. Their songs are basically orchestrated by each musician before being conpleted by Maynard with vocals. Hope you have plenty of time for this dive, its a long one!❤

I subscribed because of your Ren reactions, and I cannot wait to follow you on your Tool journey. I was late to the party myself, I never listened to Rock or Metal until I found Tool thru reaction channels on KZread, and I immediately became a fan. Just bought tickets to their concert in Cologne next year in June, and I became excited like a child on Christmas Eve when I finally had them in my bag.

What to do next? Fans will recommend that you start from their beginning album and, since they only have 5 albums, and sense each album has a storyline of sorts, I sense that you will love hearing their evolution.

The only thing modifying those instruments are the hands that are playing them. Tool is a master of their craft

Maynard is singer, Adam Jones on guitar, Danny Carey drums. It’s best to react to Tool with lyrics. No one will judge. Just voice is low on purpose.

Tool very much treats the vocals as a 4th instrument - usually mixed at the same levels as the bass, guitar and drums. They are absolutely fine using anything as the lead melody - drums, bass, vocal, guitar. Not any of this is typical of anything in R&R.

Yes! Tool is def a rabbit hole worth doing. Their music is an experience in mastery of sounds and sensations. Tool live, well, that's just other worldly. The sounds go all around and through you. Love that you're branching out! Luhya!! ❤

Welcome to The Tool Army good sir, glad to have you. This is not a journey that will disappoint you. Pneuma drum cam, descending, Lateralus, 7empest, invincible right in two... the list is too long to mention everything you need to hear. Which songs are the best is really up to personal taste but despite what you like you can't listen to this music without admitting these guys are on a whole different level than most bands. One of your other comments said you started at the pinnacle and it's all down hill from here... unfortunately they were right. Hard to move upwards from Tool. There are very few bands that are capable of creating the type of masterpieces these guys create. I'm subscribing right now and clicking the thumbs up, I can't wait for more tool reactions. Oh yeah, and by the way, I also saw in one of your comments someone mentioned focusing on the audio versions... just saying in my opinion that's a good suggestion.

TOOL ARMY 🪖 following them since 1992..... Spiral out ❤❤ Check what the golden spiral and the Fibonacci sequence(Lateralis) is about it has a lot to do with this bands music. This is more of an experience than just music I can tell you what is being used for the guitar sounds your hearing but you wont believe it!!! Danny Cary (the octopus) is a beast on the drums and Maynard is a lyrical genius and Adam is also the visual effects and musical art and Justin Chancellor was an awesome replacement to complete the conception for the band . this is metal for you, metal and the rock has the best lyricism... emotional, motivation, depression, politics, social problems and a lot of analogies, methaphors, poetry also.. or descriptive visuals, like telling a tale... depending on the metal genre.

Lol! You entered the cheat code and jumped all the levels right to TOOL and Rage! Both bands are 4-piece with only guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. TOOL will occasionally incorporate synths and electric drum pads, and both bands use effect pedals to make the sounds you'll hear. TOOL falls into the prog-rock/prog-metal category, while Rage is like if Led Zeppelin and Public Enemy had a baby that grew up in the late 80s/early 90s hardcore punk scene. You're going to enjoy these rabbit holes!

Another super underrated band ive recently discovered is Ra. I started with the From One album and its a top 5 band for me. The Papa Roach Infest album would be an awesome listen too. Check out the song Bottom! Kind of obscure and older, but great nonetheless and I think you will like it. There’s 30 other songs easily that someone would suggest to hear before this one The last TOOL song you heard will always be your new favorite. These age with wine. This band will change how you listen to music forever. On the 10th listen songs sound even better than the first listen. You will beckon the Tool army as well. spiral out. 🌀

That's not simply production but master musicians/vocalist, recording live sound. No auto tune or layering... just music Rock n Roll 101... Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Allman Brothers... Just for starters. Great reaction! BTW... the song is essentially about hypocrisy.

Hey! You're touching on the lyrics, which is great. Maynard, the lead singer, goes deep. And his vocals are mixed evenly with the instruments. Sounds weird at first, then you get used to it and appreciate the music. In live shows he's set up near the back of the stage. Tool is different. Your official journey should begin at the beginning. Starting you off: Intolerance Prison Sex Sober No music videos. They're usually way too weird and distracting. Enjoy!

A bajillion sub generes and styles of rock and Metal. Tool is considered Alternative progressive psychedelic metal. if you like them, you might like another band called Porcupine tree and their song Anesthetize.

Don't know if it was mentioned that Tom from RATM and Adam from Tool grew up together. They were in a highschool band called Electric Sheep. Tom's mom was Adam's teacher. So I'm sure their techniques rubbed off on each other.

Apparently, a friend of the singer got busted and fined for weed, and then it turns out the judge in the case had himself been busted for cocaine and hookers, so the entire song is "are you serious... ?" "Ganja, puh-lease!"

You mentioned RATM...The lead guitarists from both of these bands went to high school together and were in a band they called "Electric Sheep".I think Adam Jones of Tool played bass,but could be wrong there.Sonically similar and hugely influential artists.
