Repugnant is the creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven conscious of its fleeting time here...

One of the best parts of history😂
The song is from the perspective an angel, looking down at the humans that squander and take for granted the gifts of the Father, wondering why they act the way they do, like "monkeys". They look down at us as lower creatures, trying to understand our misguided actions.

Theres another layer here too. God created angels as the perfect beings. But we are his children and imperfect. He favors us and in their jealousy Angels look down on us and refer to us as talking monkeys. Remember a literal war took place in heaven over us amongst the angels and many fell from God's grace hence Satan.

@@wallchris75 Maynard is an outspoken atheist, I feel like people don't truly understand what this song is truly representing. He's mocking the hypocrisy of religion and how they always split man and god, when there's just men. Ego and the self, god and man, land and identity. These are all common things in this song that he refers to.
A Perfect Circle When the levee breaks live at Red Rocks live at Red Rocks. Led Zeppelin cover. It’s simply amazing. One of Maynards best performances 👍
Songs to induce meditation

Epic reaction! This shit is deep and so relevant today. Tool is always ahead..
The reason the first video didn’t have words is because it was a karaoke video and the vocals were edited out.
Tool tickets on sale buddy for their upcoming tour. You won't regret it if you go see them live
Angels are "perfect" beings, following God's purpose & orders without question. They don't understand humans (silly monkeys). Humans are given the gifts of reason and freewill from God and all we do is fight, kill & divide ourselves from each other.

This is not at all what he's referring to with this song, especially not in the literal sense. He's an outspoke atheist, he's mocking religion and how they always split man and god, supernatural and natural. Monkeys and angels are a split representation of how religion works, angels are wondering why monkeys are fighting each other when they don't realize its their own religion causing it, its THEM causing it because religion splits it to begin with and monkeys are just following the religious doctrines put in place. Other themes in this song: Ego and Self, Land and Identity... All concepts in this song.
Incredible! Thank you!
Danny - Drums, Adam - guitar, Justin - Bass, Maynard - Vocals.... This could be a movie soundtrack!
Open a second window so you can follow in music time. One of the best albums ever. Love me some Tool!!

My guy......you never fail me
You're killing the vibe....just letit play... and enjoy the ride...
Great reaction!!! The song is about human nature with some biblical references thrown in too I believe.
I appreciate you so much!!!!!
My read of it - it's about Darwinian game theory, multipolar traps, and tragedies of the commons (long before most of us got to hear Daniel Schmachtenberger speak as eloquently as he does on those things).
This is about man's inhumanity to man and the angels looking down from above scratching their heads in disbelief. To put it in a nutshell.
"Where there's one your bound to divide it right in two". Cutting one into two is a never ending cycle because no matter how U cut it there always ends up being one of something to divide again untill there's nothing left
I seen TOOL @ the Universal Amphitheater back in the day 😎 shit was off the hook 💯
lol, you almost had it.... you do realize the audio will still play if you have the other tab showing
anyone that says this is a racist song, has a small mind and can't understand meanings.
Look up Zachariah Sitchin and read about the Anunnaki to get a deeper dive into the meaning of this song.

I think he is calling us monkeys to describe how the angels are viewing us (this creation of Gods), as primitive. The angels are amused and then become confused as they watch what we do when God gives us free will and the ability reason. This is truly an amazing story and picture he paints with this song.
Evolution...set in motion by an almighty creator.... Love ya buddy. Gonna send ya some music soon
Welcome to Tool.
ha, i thought that first video sounded odd
Wondering when this tug of WAR will end. Spiral out
Tool has no bad albums.
Damn son, they ain't give you no love on this joint
You should have listened to Intension first. The two songs flow together perfectly.
First video literally said karaoke.
Already
Welcome to the channel ..lol ..I feel you might be evolving to actually hear them ..flash back to White men can't jump ...you here Jimmy Hendrix ..but you don't HEAR it! Weasly said to Woody ....Much love 😍I come from the age before we had these lyrics I had to rewind the CASSETTE to hear it ..young Padawan you have made it !
A number of the songs off the 10,000 days album were a reflection of the ugly side of human nature.

vicarious being a prime example
You missed the very first part where he says "these talking monkeys", WE the human race are the monkeys, and we fight over land and tend to always divide. "how they survive so misguided is a mystery" monkey killing monkey is how we keep destroying the earth and our humanity with ongoing wars.
Dude.....as far as the ANGELS are concerned WE R just talking monkeys!!?? And we squandered all the beauty GOD gave us n the Angels don't understand how stupid WE ARE!
Damn, you missed the film clip.
Why did father give these humans free will....now they’re all confused
Let me help you...what you're trying to say, basically, is that TOOL is waaayyy deeper than we think they are when we first dive in. It's funny you called it a "hidden message", the truth is precisely the opposite. 🖤🤘🏾🖖🏿
I think it has to do with the dichotomy of what we think an alien is. Some extra terrestrial life will come with extra awesome abilities and we might look at them like gods because of them.
Gojira - Amazonia
It could be interpreted as a racist topic by some, separation,?but it is not a racist song.

Wild song. Some of those lyric videos out there really suck.
You want a couple thousand views? React to Tool songs. 👍
@ThatSingerReactions How does the monkey metaphor impact you're experience of the song, since it inevitably evokes the racist slur of blacks as chimps?
Subbed, could you check out Janis Joplin, Summertime?
