You are SO right when you speak of Tool’s intelligence, and teaching deep meaning. The song lyrics to ‘46 & 2’ speak of a genetic evolution to higher consciousness. The syllables of the lyrics to the song ‘Lateralus’ are timed to the mathematical concept of the Fibonacci sequence. 🌀✨

  • @swismotion

Jamel, as long as I've been following your reactions, I've waited for you to do this song! Given how you feel the music & look for meaning in the lyrics, I knew this song would be an eye-opener. Indeed, Tool, both music and lyrics, gives us an opportunity to reflect, to analyze, to give our brains a workout. Be it social commentary, theological, etc., they give us the platform to think! From day 1, this song has really struck a chord with me. It so undeniably true. We've been given a gift - a beautiful Eden and the ability to think & reason, but what do we do, we create chaos, disorder, destruction. We continuously 'beat our brother down'. Never content with what we have, we need to split it 'Right In Two' - sad, sad reality!

Specifically, visit Lubbock, Texas. This is the spot...Buddy Holly’s hometown. Texas Tech is here, Mexican food and BBQ, cotton, wine, peanuts, pumpkins, watermelons, “Friday Night Lights” towns pepper the landscape. It’s not East or west coast, but, folks aren’t in a hurry, they’re helpful, they’re pleasant and nice, they hold doors open for everybody and most folks go to church. Great school districts too. Most people sleep on places like this... 😎

Fun music geek fact. The meter that they’re playing in could be considered a direct reflection of the lyrical theme. The musical “phrase” is felt in 3 (often considered a holy, perfect, and balanced number) but on the bars where he sings “right in two” they always change it to a 2 feel, instead of that 3.

When 10 000 days came out i was young (don't remember exactly how old) and my grandmother bought it like the day it came out (i lived with her at the time) and would constantly blast this album on her speakers and in her truck. Little blonde 50 yr old Canadian woman just blasting tool driving around in a truck looking back its hilarious. She came to pick me up from a friends house and we deadass heard her coming a block away. This whole album helped shape my world view, amazing music too. One of my favorite albums ever.
