I know right I don't know why but I love the way he moves its hot makes me feel so much . An look at that package I love his choice of clothes or lack of.

8:33 Cool thing to watch; Maynard taps his right foot for 2 beats during the pauses in his "prying open..." bits to make sure each of them come in on beat with everyone else. I've always enjoyed little things like that from this band and especially this era of the band; For as trippy, organic and wild as the music gets, the execution and performance of the ART is taken VERY seriously. You can tell that all of them are committed to getting the details right, otherwise the vibe could completely fall apart.

Just notice that Tool's music is highly polyrhythmic and complicated. 'Eulogy', for example. It's impossible to perform it without controlling,without being deep 'inside' of these time signatures. EVERY member of the band have got to UNDERSTAND the whole melodic structure of the song and use it. It helps not to fuck up during the performance. P.S. I'm from Russia, and my English is fucking terrible =\

Nothing like a live TooL show....but don't ever cheat yourself and let videos be your only live TooL show experience. I'd punch a Wal-Mart greeter in the throat for another opportunity to see TooL live again.

Jordan K. No. I came to from a three or four day acid trip and poof...I was in San Diego at Lalapaluza or whatever you call it back in 93 or 94. Many bands played. I didn't realize what I was witnessing back then.

+Derek Boni Damn straight. I didn't get to see them until later in their act in 2007, but it still blew my mind. July 16 2007 at the Sovereign Center in Reading. Two hits of ecstacy and a drop of ecstacy and I was flying through that show. Will never forget Cody of Big Business and Danny doing a drum battle during Laterallus. Was fucking epic. That kid had some serious talent, but the rest of his band was shit...probably why he was the only one allowed to play with Tool.

My senior year in high school.... my life forever changed by the power of this concert. I remember standing in the crowd and after 15 minutes of waiting for TOOL to come on the crowd collectively realized that Ions was being played, with the volume slowly raising until, if you stood still, you could literally feel your clothing shaking against your body. I'll never forget that feeling. Going right into Third Eye might have been the best thing ever, and solidified that tune as my favorite TOOL song of all time.

Seeing third eye and Rosetta stoned live will always stand out in my mind. Though the one moment that stands above the rest was when they opened with the Grudge in 17. The band was locked in from the jump and Keenans singing was so crisp through the completely dark stadium. lights didn't start until the intro ended.

Holy shit! I'm so glad we have these videos someone was smart enough to record because this is pure gold. They still sound good in their late 50's but back in the Aenima and Lateralus days Maynard used to rock hard and he was so animated and sounded unreal! What a great concert. I think my favorite time of Tool was during their tour for Lateralus. I think that is when they sounded the very best.

Thank you for your gratitude. I went with teams of bootleggers to these tours. We snuck in equipment as teams across Texas, Louisiana,new Mexico and Oklahoma when the Internet was new. We organized in the "tool hub", some local network that would allow us to host pirated material. TOOL themselves fought hard to prevent this. I like to think they regret it now that there's a product to reflect on. May God forgive us for our sins.

Maynard's dance/performance to the drum solo in 46&two is absolutely amazing

I saw Tool twice with Maynard out front, one in 1997 and once in 1998. Both times were utterly amazing. But if you go to a Tool show and they OPEN the show with Third Eye...you gotta know you're in for a ride. I feel lucky to have seen them the times I did. I can't imagine any show that could beat it, except maybe Queen at Live Aid or something like that.

I definitely remember this show...Maynard still played a great show even though he was sick......like a real musician would!! Love Tool!!

There truly is no other band thay will ever reach this kind of insane artistic ceiling. Truly the only muaic act who can give Rush a run for the throne. The vocals and lyrics, the riffs, the tone, the polyrythms, and just the raw emotion it all brings out of you. Tool is the perfect balance of thoughtful artistic creation and raw unbridled emotional outburst👑

Man I miss the days of Maynard the performer, front and center.

I just read the chapter in his book where he talks about why he started standing in the back. Everyone talks about the "emotional" and "emphasizing the band" aspects, but he said it also keeps a lot of the bleed from the speaker cabinets out of his mic.

I was working for Electric Factory concerts when Tool played this show-been a die hard fan from the Undertow record on to present day Tool evolution.

Really good show. I actually saw them live for the first time earlier that same week in 1996. 11/18/96 at The Garage in Cincinnati. Almost 20 years later, that show still qualifies as the best I've ever seen.

So grateful for this type of artistic expression ... to be able to sublimate one's mental and emotional chaos into coherent artistic expression ...I'm just so very grateful this type of art exists in our world. So very grateful.

I can't get over how good this sounds! Maynard's even sick during this performance.

tool have been the greatest and most inspiring band ever for me since i first heard them around 20 years ago. I dont expect that to change any time soon. Adam and Justin's riffs (and Paul) made me love guitar, and Danny was the first drummer to really open my eyes to the world of drumming, and Maynard made me think... Seeing this performance just made me feel all these feelings even more keenly... Even all the live imperfections are so real... Huge huge respect for this band And bigups to the people getting these vids up! It's so good and musically inspiring to be able to see how tool have grown and changed over the years through these collections

I was there as a 17 year old kid at the Electric Factory, 11/23/96 show in Philly. OMG. I was front and center, when ALL hell broke loose at 8:00 mins inside this video. At that point shit unleashed and it became a matter of survival. Hands down, the most AWESOME thing I have ever been a part of. I've seen Tool like 8x and APC even backstage, 100s of other bands. but nothing will ever come close to the cataclysm that occured at 8:00 in during this video and just did not stop. "I came out to watch you play." "Why are you running away?" 😳

Sometimes words can’t describe music. My god! Just mind blowing good cool unique music to say the least. Dudes broke the mold.

Wow, thanks for this video. I've been to many Tool shows since my first in 1993, and seen a few videos on youtube, but this particular recording of Ænima tops it all. Simply amazing. Wiping tears every time I hear this.

Sacramento 1998

I've seen tool twice live on the lateralus tour and I have to say that while those concerts were mind blowing amazing (especially the trapeze artists) but seeing a video like this is also special... because you get to see tiny details and unique aspects of the performance. I love watching parts over and over again. The booming bass frequencies and VIDEO CALIBRATING just add character and good old VHS charm to the video. THANKS FOR UPLOADING!

He should be sick more often cuz this is one of his best performances

This concert was the first time that I saw Tool live. A fantastic experience; my third eye was pried right open!

Amazing show at the Electric Factory. And to think, Maynard cancelled Boston the following or next night because he was sick, after this Philly show. We were lucky to all four members of Tool show their brilliance in such a small venue.

This is one of the best ones I’ve seen of the older shows. Perhaps the best. Wow. Stinkfist is ...wow

To watch this video brings back memories, and to be there in person is an entirely different experience.

Maynard’s total expression is worth gold to me.

I love the vocal effects! Wish they used those same ones today.

Audio is great, so is the video...I actually miss seeing those tape ripples. Awesome.

Never got to see them back in the 90s but managed to catch the show at Oak Mountain Alabama back in October 2001 in the pouring rain with the Melvin's opening. Still the best show I've been to.

Electric Factory.... About time it's made it to main stream.. One of the 1st rare shows I collected.... I think about not being able to have this show posted on your Trader list....

An artifact, a masterpiece

The Third Eye performance on this particular show Is one of the most important moments of human experience when the tangible tapped into divinity and channeled greatness before mankind. I have seen them 14 times over 30 something years. This is a very focused tapped in and ethereal expression of third eye. I'm very proud of them.

Not sure if that was the show or not. We also saw him at the providence civic center when Lateralus came out and during one song either the mic malfunctioned or his voice was cracking and he slammed the mic on the ground and “took time off” for a minute
