Took me 20 YEARS to get this jacket (literally)

As I continue learning minimalism, I've realized that I'm not getting rid of everything; some rare things, even though they don't serve a functional purpose, are sentimental enough to keep. Today's video is a story more than 20 years in the making, about the Polo Sport Snow Beach Jacket, that I first saw when I was 9 years old, finally picked up more than 2 decades later. This, is the story of that thing.

In a previous, I shared my truly embarrassing relationship with clothes since I was a young teenager. It's still a work in progress, meaning, I feel like I'll be able to minimize even more, but going from 275 pieces of wearables, to 75 was pretty darn satisfying. But one outfit is so sentimental to me, that I had to keep it even though I never wear it.
I have way too much stuff in general. It's not ok. So although, no matter what, I'm going to be doing some spring cleaning, I want to figure out if creating the processes and systems to support a minimalist lifestyle is sustainable and positive for me.
This series is going to be sharing my journey of learning, building new habits, and setting expectations that I hope will have a positive ripple effect throughout all other areas of my life.
I feel like I have a lot of clutter, both in my physical space, as well as in my head, and have, over the past few years, realized that one of the keys to happiness is simplicity; no drama, no complication. And although I think I'm on the right track, at least from a work and relationships perspective, I've always been someone who likes to collect things, buy things, and way-too-easily justify acquiring new things.
Forget how wasteful it is from a personal financial standpoint, it's wasteful for society, and the world. Seeing dollar-store shelves really makes me wonder, who's making all this stuff? Who's buying all this stuff? How long is it used before it ends up in the trash can?
I think, even from a selfish perspective, we should all consider the state of consumerism, how much money we spend, how to save money, how to stop shopping, to stop being wasteful, and simply considering and being conscious of everything we have, and how to build good habits. Knowing and being aware of everything we own might be a great place to start. It's where I'm starting and I can't wait to see what I learn!

Probably one of the coolest videos ever made. What an awesome story. I thought oversized clothes were on point in the hip hop community.

Thanks for watching, Catherine! I think oversized is definitely on-point, but when paired with my pants which are all on the more fitted end of things, wearing this makes me look like a figure skater, hahaha.

I’ve also had my eyes on this jacket for years! Two days ago I bought a lot of vintage cassettes from an old friend of mine. And in there was an original OB4CL Purple tape. I only paid $30 for the bin. Made my day!

Thanks so much for watching! I don't play the violin anymore, no... I think the amount of pressure from my folks as a kid really turned me off, so the moment I was old enough to run from it, I did and never really looked back, lol. Folks tell me that I can probably get back into the swing of things in just a few short months though... however, no time nowadays 😜

@@MauriceMoves I totally get that. I had a similar experience playing the clarinet and visual art, where my connection with it was very mechanical and not really mine. Wasn't til recent years that I discovered that composing is what resonates with me. Sometimes the skill in something is just a symptom of potential but the fulfillment is in another area :) I could see you playing some badass hip hop violin.

Snow beach pulloverlooks hella dope baggy. but then again I'm 185 and 5'8. You look a lot skinnier them be. But the pullover is meant to be baggy. Even the smaller sizes still tend to swim as well

I also called Polo.on why the snow beach runs big compared to.there pullover and its made big to layer. That's my I helps wanted the greens purple hooded rugby cuz that'll look dope underneath with the yellow.hoodie on some wu tang shit. I like mixing and matching the snow beach line. But if you are helps small the large would be swimming on you

I'm with that Lo Life the only thing I don't like is the way hats come it's really too small especially the regular hats with the horse polo label .So if you have big head you might as well rock the bucket hats

I bought the black series large too. Size large. I'm 5'8 185 and it fits a little.big, but I actually like the baggy look of I'm its made big because its a layer piece. I literally just copped the purple.hooded.rugby. I love the way the black pullover looks with the yellow hoodie popping out. But yea the snow beach was meant to.be an oversized piece. Them again I don't know how tall and how much you weigh so it could.me !ad huge on you

Oh man, I wanted to get the black series one as well, but budget-wise, could only pick one. I definitely agree that it should be baggy, and maybe it's because most of my pants are on the tighter end, so when I slip the Snow Beach on, I look like a damn figure skater 😭
