Have you ever thought of starting something but thought I'm too old for this?

I was 11 when I started in photography as a hobby and 36 when I got my BA in Photography - I'm now 45 and currently studying for a masters degree in photography. You're never too old to start learning.

What a lovely and inspirational video, Katja. Thank you for creating it. I'm about to go to photo school in Los Angeles, entering as a junior so I only have two years to do. If I graduate on time, in the summer of 2025, I'll be 70 years old.

I think it's never too late for photography as long as it's a personal thing - your passion with a bleeding heart. Economically it's not easy and maybe you should have another (no matter what) column to keep your life standard. ;-)

One should always reinvent one's self, ever so many years or decades. OK, you don't have to, but having new things to do or goals, ever so often does help. At 32 you are a baby compared to someone nearing 70 :)) Professional means you make money and have certain skills. Being a good artist at photography, is something you are born with. The eye for photography, and then going out and shooting to the point you understand the relationship between what you see and how it will look in a photograph, is all you need for being at artist. A great example is a band group called the Beatles, which played instruments in their own way, and did not read music. Of course George Martin being trained in the music field was of great help, without a doubt. I just do not see learning how to make an image the way someone in the past did it, adds a thing to the future. There are millions, if not billions of professionals at many things, and they can replicate like a Xerox machine -- so what. Be yourself. Many of the "greats in professional world" are those with the skills to promote. In other words, they may not be any greater or as good as the rest, but they are able to promote themselves as something awesome. Vivian Maier was a great photographer -- she never promoted as such and was unknown until after her deaths as a great photographer - sadly. That may have been an advantage however, as her works were focused on just the images she was taking and not that of fame or having a business. And it is true, business considers aged 35 as a norm for being in a profession. Ah yes, do break the norm! You are so right in saying the older person does make a better student, as they are more focused and interested. Often, when young we haven't the clue as to what we want to do, or where are interests in life will lead. Take care, Loren

I graduated last year from a photography degree at the age of 47 😬 I graduated with academic excellence and a masters scholarship. You are never to old to learn. The societal ideologies you talk about with regards to age are just that. F&vk the expectations of this capitalist society.
